Prepare to squeal with excitement! I've been many times, and the tips I can give you are:
1. Bring some sort of canvas bag to hold all your stuff.
2. Bring your camera.
3. Don't be overwhelmed, lol!
I've been to it several times. It can be a bit overwhelming but it is so much fun! Do make sure to bring your camera. They have tons of sample cards to take pictures of. Some of the vendors have make & takes too.
I'll be there too! went last year - found lots of nifty stuff! If you went to the fall show and thought it was a little small... this one is usually bigger!
most booths take credit cards
...um wear comfy shoes?! LOL
have fun!

I've been at least the last three years. Bring PLENTY of money! I always say I'm going to spend a certain set amount and end up going WAY over! Most booths do accept credit cards. Wear comfy shoes and bring a backpack. The reason I say to bring a backpack is that it gets REALLY crowded in there and you won't have much room for anything on wheels. You'll need somewhere to put your goodies. People can get kind of shovey too, so I wouldn't reccommend a wheeled bag. I'm not even sure if they're allowed. A camera is a must, but be prepared to not be able to use it at all booths. I also bring a notepad and pen to write down directions to techniques, etc. I always end up purchasing something in all the excitement and then get home and can't remember what to do with it. This year I'll be writing things down. Food is also WAY overpriced. You might want to pack a lunch or bring snack food and bottled water/pop for yourself. Most of all... Have Fun! It's a blast!!!
The address is actually 4642 Akron Road, Smithville, OH 44677 but sometimes that address doesn't work. You can also try 877 1/2 W. Main St., Smithville. We're right on the edge of town, so sometimes the address doesn't work depending on what online map you access. If you're ever been to The Barn Restaurant in Smithville, our store is in the same complex. It's called TOYRIFIX! The store is primarily specialty toys, but in the back we have a whole section of stamps and other goodies!
Great advise about the backpack and food. I will probably bring my own snacks and water. I am sure most of the food will not fit into my diet plan. Plus it will free up more money to buy stamp stuff. ;)

I can't wait until Sunday:-D . I have gone for the past several years and look forward to it every year. This is the first year for my friend Barbara who is the one who introduced me to stamping in the first place. We have been friends for 20 years and I am so happy to be sharing this experience with her. I usually take $150. with me and a backpack with a couple granola bars and Propels in it. Then I leave with no money, no food, and a backpack full of goodies. We should all put a red ribbon or something on our bags so we know who is a fellow SCSer. ;)
I hadn't thought to see if there was a forum for this until tonight. I am coming up tomorrow...will be my first time....can't wait! I am glad I saw this thread. I got some good info.

My two friends and I will be there! I have gone several years in a row since I moved to Ohio. Be prepared to be overwhelmed with excitement. Pace yourself and wear comfy clothes/shoes. I tend to circle my fav booths in the program and go back so I don't spend too much money too fast. If you think it's something you HAVE to have....get it or accept the fact that it could be sold out! Take a fully charged camera and bring extra batteries. I think most booths let you take pics....except Stamps by Judith. The John S Knight center is a perfect location....plenty of parking across the street in the garage, a nice spacious building, plenty of seats in the hall area if you need a rest, decent food/snacks. I take my own water bottle. OH, yeah...and MONEY! Have a ball everyone! Take your patience pill if you don't like crowds. There are usually a few stinkers who cut in or bump you and never acknowledge it. LOL Just have fun!
Good advice, Natalie especially about the patience pill! There's an abundance of lack-of-consideration for others at times!
I have to take one daily! LOL
I think everyone just gets so excited about all the goodies or they are afraid they'll miss something. I just try to be polite despite it all. The vendors have always been very prepared when I've attended. Everyone will get to see it all! Everyone have a great time!
I am so excited about going I could not sleep. I am up and ready to go. DH is making me and my girlfriend "egg mcmuffins" than a quick detour to Starbucks and we'll be on our way. Everyone have a good time. Be safe and be PATIENT.

Wow! I just got back from Akron....glad for all the info I got on here before...really helped a lot. Spent almost all the money I took with me. But I was good and didn't bring out the plastic!!! Had a wonderful time and plan on going back next year. Gonna start saving money now so have more to spend next time.

Gary is my new best friend, Connie! I even got invited to the after-party at their warehouse tonight, but couldn't go! He was so nice... we talked a lot about some orders for Copic markers for the store!
Tammy! I saw you at the Rubbernecker booth! You and Bad Sherry! I was too shy to say "Hi" but I did see you! I had a blast and spent WAY TOO MUCH MONEY!!! But I had a blast!

Oh, shame on you! I LOVE meeting new people! Isn't Sherry a blast! She was exactly as I thought she would be! Down to earth, devil-may-care, and totally fun!

Ahhhh....it's nice to be home in my jammies, but man what a fun time! Hmm....let's see...the highlights for me were MEETING BAD SHERRY!!!, drooling at all the loose glitter!, seeing some old favs who returned to the show this year (DeNami Designs, Darcie's, Vippies, etc.), getting great ideas from the many wonderful samples posted, and bringing home new goodies!
We ate at Spaghetti Warehouse, then headed home. There was an accident on I-76 so all traffic was rerouted. We decided to go a different way home so we ended up in Smithville at Toyrifix (stampertammy's domain!!!!). Girl, all I can say is you rock at ordering for them. We showed up at 8:30pm so we'll have to come back when we have more time. I really tried not to drool on all the goodies. LOL I saw a lot of goodies I've browsed at online, plus you have the best clearance prices! Wow! I'll be back for sure when I have more time. We were in and out as they closed at 9. I never saw Tammy at the convention, but thought of her when I stopped at her store. It was quite a blessing that traffic was rerouted, huh?
Is it April 2009 yet? LOL
Guess what....I didn't run into ONE rude person today. Yeah! Did everyone take their pill or what? LOL
Heavy on the totally fun! Glad you got to meet her. Wish I could have been there too.
Jeanne, that would have been awesome! I'm sure those girls will be up until the wee hours tonight having fun! Maybe I should alert the local police that BadSherry is in the neighborhood???

OMGosh, I'm so sorry you got stuck in that! I was so lucky as the traffic was stopping just as I got to the 21 South innerchange, and I was able to get off I-76 at that point. How long were you stuck? But on the other hand, I'm happy you got to stop at Toyrifix, and THANK YOU! That's a huge boost to my confidence! I'm actually getting a little distressed because I've been so busy lately that I haven't kept up with ordering! I've got a lot of empty spaces that need to be filled right now! This month has been very good sales-wise and I'm hoping to turn that into a little extra budget money from the boss for May! Thanks again for saying such sweet things! I hope the girls were helpful at the store and didn't run you out promptly at 9:00? Our employees are pretty good girls, but sometimes they're anxious to get out the door!
BTW, did we meet in January '07 at some scrapping thing in Ashland? I had a whole display set up for Stampin' Up... it was a Relay for Life fundraiser.
Kidding! Got to meet her in Cincy with Jeanne S. They ROCK! Will Sherry be at the convention tomorrow?????
*waving* Hello, Diane! Yes, Sherry and Shelly will still be there tomorrow. If you go in the main doors of the hall, go to your left, and then take a right at the first aisle. They're the first ones on your right!

We were routed immediately, so really no stop and go traffic. We did a loop and headed on 545. I was secretly excited so when we saw The Barn I asked my friend if she'd just "pull up and see". ha ha The store was still open! It was a quick browse, but worth it! I was in the back and realized it was 9 so I told the girls I better get going. They were very nice. My friends had paid so we were out by 9:02 at the latest. LOL
Yes, I met you in Ashland! I remembered you from then, but had no clue you would remember me. Do you work certain days/hours at the store? If you're there, I'll say hi.

I got the CUTEST banana split stamp at their booth. The "old people" ones are hilarious, too!

I usually work 9:30 to 5:30 every day. I have every other Monday off and then I work every other Saturday. If you're planning to come on a Monday or Saturday, just give me a shout here on SCS or email me at [email protected] to see if it's my day to work or not!
OK, I went today but by the time I got there I only had a little over an hour to shop. I was going at quite a good pace and planned to go back to a few booths after the first run through. Well, the I saw the Rubberneckers booth. I was there for the rest of my time! I met BadSherry, papermoon04 and julesiana! I watched Sherry work her magic on some gorgeous big tags! How cool was that! I think I will have to make the time to go back again tomorrow!
