Default Adorable Poem for a Blank Card!

I received a RAK from Zoe Dougherty today, and it really brightened up my Monday!

Here's the cute poem she put on a loose paper inside:

I didn't sign this card
Before I sent it off to you...
Instead it holds my warmest thoughts,
Iinvisible but true.
And if you find a time you need
To brighten someone's day...
Then take this card and sign it
And send it on its way.

Very Special!
I got such a kick out of it!
Had to share it with you gals!

That's so great! I've tried to express that same idea in cards I've sent but I think it ended up sounding like I was saying that my card was so great they should sent it to someone else - like they weren't good enough to have it themselves.

Love the poem - really wonderful. When I give b-day cards to gals at work I always sign on a post-it note saying "this card is re-usable". Gotten to be a little joke around the office. I'll have to start using the poem

That is so nice! Do you think she would mind if we all start using it with our RAKs???

On an insert, usually parchment type resume paper, I have printed in small font on the lower right "my frugal partner suggested that this page should be an insert, so you can remove it and send it on to someone else.". Obiously, in used for light-hearted cards, never sympathy, etc.

What about the envelope? The recipient would need an A2 to mail it out. The average non stamper wouldn't have those on hand.

Warning, this will be a Debbie Downer moment on this very old thread. As the recipient of this type of card (I'm guessing it was back in 2004 or before, when this thread originally started), I can tell you from personal experience that the recipient may not appreciate this "frugality".

My former sis-in-law (now deceased), was a SU demo and she would send me cards with this kind of insert inside - they might be a birthday card or thinking of you or something else. Anyway, i can still remember how I FELT when I opened a card with this kind of message - I felt unimportant...and deflated.
Why didn't I get a card that was intended just for me? Was it a waste of her time and talent to make a card just for me? Why would I send a card she made to someone else, when I make cards myself? Ugh...after all these years I can still remember how low I felt after getting one of these cards. And what made it worse is that she thought it was such a great idea!!!!

As a wounded-receiver of more than one of these frugal cards, I caution you to be mindful of how how the person you are sending this to may perceive it. If you want to make a gift of cards for that person to use, just send them some cards! Don't fiddle around with a card with an insert telling the person to use it for someone else.

Coming down off my soap box now. Hoping that my comments don't hurt any feelings, just want to open some hearts to "the other side of the story".

Susy, I agree with you. I understand people are trying to be helpful, but when I have rec'd blank cards, it always felt weird. I never send people cards that I didn't make myself, and I save cards (with personal notes inside)I have received from others.

I have often made card sets for family members so they can send hand crafted cards. That is my way of paying it forward.

I guess it comes down to personality...I'm just super sentimental and hold on to a lot of stuff. Maybe too much.

Thank you for your kind words of understanding. I, too, am sentimental and tuck away little tidbits of memorabilia that bring back good memories.

Suzy, thanks for speaking up. I agree with what you have said. I've never received a "frugal card", but I would feel the same way as you if I did.

I never got the point of swaps for kind of the same reason. I don't want to have a bunch of cards that someone else made so I can send them out.

I love making cards and put a lot of myself into them. I really enjoy sending them to friends and family. I think sending cards that someone else made would feel like sending a store bought card, which I never do anymore.

I think I would join Susy, and Kim, and Bugga on the soapbox. While I understand the idea of the re-send, it is impersonal...on both sides. I wouldn't be likely to send out a card that I got that way, since my cards are made FOR the recipient.

I am a chemo angel which means that I send out cards once a week to patients undergoing chemo therapy. I often will send my buddies two cards at a time. One that I've hand written a personal message in and another blank card so they can send it off to someone else (I also include a folded A2 envie). More than once, I have received my own creation in the mail from a buddy with a hand written note inside!

I love this idea! One special card for the patient and another special card for them to bless someone with. You definitely are a "chemo 😇 " ! Thanks for sharing this with us.

I sell my cards and one of my clients likes to buy blank cards so she can send a note in it about reusing it. That's just what she likes... 🙂
