Thanks for the reply - which I take to mean that they actually don't have the foggiest who actually has the coupons. - sounds like its worth trying to me.

Default Does that mean?

That if you didn't get the original e-mail and were not included in the test that you can't use the coupon?

They don't know who got them from their own admission; thus they don't know who was included in the test; thus anyone how has gotten either an email or a coupon sent on to them by other means should be able to use them.

I was recently told by a Michael's manager that soon Michael's will no longer accept JoAnn's coupons. Just thought I would pass on that information.

I just spoke with Ricky at Michael's customer service. I was informed that this was a pilot for the week ending March 1st and that the coupon was sent to only 8% of the registered Michaels users which he said translates to thousands of customers. Based on the usage of those coupons, Michaels will determine if that's the route they'll go in the future. I mentioned a "friend" received the coupon but I hadn't and he said there was no reason why anyone couldn't print that coupon for use but the standard one coupon per visit per day applies (like we won't come back in and go to another cashier : )Should you have problems using that coupon at the point of sale, you should call customer service with the store information. Hope this information helps

I printed a coupon earlier and my Michaels' accepted. I was kind of scared that that would not because it did not scan...she just punched it in.

Default Posted in another thread also....

jaydekay took hers to a local store and was told, "We don't accept online coupons."

That did not make any sense to me. I started typing up a very long complaint about how stupid it was to offer coupons online and not take them in the stores.

Then I decided to call the Michael's store near me. The first person who answered the phone said the same thing, "We don't take online coupons." When I told her that it made no sense she called for the store manager.

So the manager said, "It's a brand new trial program. Not all of our assistants are aware of the new policy. Because our usual policy is that we accept newspaper coupons from Joann's but not from online, many of the clerks will just tell you that we don't do online coupons. They should be taking the Michael's online ones, just not from other stores."

Here is the new Michael's Coupon. If a clerk says that they don't take online coupons, ask for the store manager.

I printed the coupon out that's linked on this thread and used it today without any trouble at all. In fact, they were excited to see it come in -- it was the first one!

Our local Michaels has refused Joann's coupons forever; however our Joann's will take ANY competitors coupons. Just drives me crazy that it is different from Michaels to Michaels.

I have NO idea if we'll be able to use this online Michael's coupon. I'm going this afternoon and will report back what happens. We'll see!

And I would think that the more people who use it (more than the 8% that received it) that will tell Michaels that this IS a good thing!

I used the online coupon at Mikes last night on a MS stamp set. The cashier double-checked with the manager on duty that she could apply the coupon and then rang it up. The bar code wouldn't scan, so she just keyed the number in under Coupon Exemption.

What I'm catching from all these replies is that there's a MAJOR communication gap between not only corporate Michaels and their stores, but also Michaels mgt to their employees.... Kinda sad the consumer has to learn all the ins and outs for themselves and let M's mgt know what's going on........

Isn't that the sad truth. Heck my boss told me to just ask the customer if the item was listed as on sale because they know our ads inside and out. Because we have to many products on sale I do this (I also only backup cashier) but I just think that is the most idiotic thing to tell an employee.

And here we have ONE of the main reason I refuse to shop at Mikes. Add the rude employees to that and I am pretty much over shopping at Mikes.

Just got back from Mike's. I handed the cashier my printed out coupon, and she exclaimed "Oh cool! This is the first one of these. Our manager was telling us about them this morning!".

Maybe the word is finally getting out to the Associates about these.

Okay - I printed it out and headed over to my local Michael's. Cashier said they don't honor printed coupons (politely) and I asked to speak to the manager. The manager's eyes bulged - "You have the coupon!" he said smiling hugely. I even told him I found it here. He was delighted to see the coupon in his store.

Stafford, Texas, by the way - so Houstonians - have at it!

I was able to use the coupon on Monday at the new North Dallas Michaels (Monfort and Beltline). They were wondering what people had to do to get the coupon, but were glad to take it.

Janet - where do you find your Michael's coupons on the internet? I'm also registered at their site and I never receive coupons from them. Actually, I haven't received e-mails from them in ages. I just checked, and I am still registered, so I'm not sure how to even get coupons. They are never in my newspaper, although my SIL gets them in her newspaper. It really bothers me that you have to beg for these coupons! I won't walk into a Michael's or Joann's unless I have a coupon, and they are both pretty stinky about offering one to you from behind their counter if you don't bring one in.

I just printed out the coupon and took it to Michaels. The clerk had to ask the manager but she told her to take it. Yoohoo.

There must be more than one coupon floating around out there because the manager said some of the coupons are only good for certain items (like beads).

My Michael's took it but the cashier had to cut the top and bottom off before finishing - and she gave me the pieces to toss...that's okay, tho - I got my 40%.

We also have Michael's, Joann's, and AC Moore in the area. Each of them will accept a coupon from any of the others - even a rare 50% off coupon. I guess it's all about competition. I have never tried a printed coupon, because I get more than I can (or should) use in the paper. My DH is a newspaper addict. We get a Michael's coupon each week in both the Baltimore Sun, as well as in our local paper. Then, AC Moore used to come in the mailbox mailer once a week. (I think they just switched over to the local paper only.) In addition, Joann's comes sometimes in the paper, and frequentely in the mail if you are on their mailing list. I can't possibly use all of those coupons. (My sister said that her DH throws them away now before she can look at them to keep down her spending.)

I'm assuming the stores have no idea whether or not you were included in the *test* area. Fortunately for me, Joanns and Michaels are within 2 miles of each other so it's easy to go to both in the same trip. Hobby Lobby is pretty good about having online coupons but they are usually for a specific department and rarely are for scrapbooking/stamping.

I printed the coupon, and took it in. The checker really read it over, and said. "hmm this must something new" and then gave me the discount. No problems!

I used a color printer to print out the coupon (so it did not look like a computer print out). The clerk never even really looked at it just scanned it and gave me my 40% off!
