Default 80th Birthday Card Help

I will be attending my uncle's 80th birthday next Saturday. I have tried to come up with a card idea, but nothing is coming. I have a stamp I'm dying to use that says, "Nothing says Happy Birthday like a piece of paper folded in half." That doesn't celebrate the importance of reaching 80, so I don't think I should use it. I don't just want to say, "Happy 80th Birthday" either. If anyone could send some inspiration my way, I would greatly appreciate it.

Card front: a blaze of candles and 80?!?!?!
Inside: Set the house (town) on fire!

Great stamp - if your uncle has a fun sense of humor! May I ask where you got it?

I see it's your first post here too - welcome!

Here's a "milestone" card I did for our church organist when she turned 95!
She made it to 100; but sadly, passed away a few months later. Great lady.
I miss her a lot. Congratulations to your uncle.

The candles are made from cardstock which is embossed by a diagonal stripe embossing folder. There are 10 candles on each page.
The Chocolate Chip cardstock the candles are on is embossed with a swirl embossing folder to make it look like a chocolate cake.

love the "milestone" card pictured. my first thought would have been to go for a "funny sentiment" since when I am sending a birthday card to a "senior citizen" (I am one too), I think that laughter is the way to go. nanette

The stamp is from the Birthday Wit set by Stampin Up. It's in their new Occasions catalog. It has some very cute and witty stamps. I love it. Thank you for the kind welcome.

That's a good point. Thank you. I think I will try making a humorous card for him. He has a good sense of humor so he would probably like it.

I love this card. May I ask how you connected the cards and what the dimensions are. It is beautiful and I could add a "don't burn down the house" sentiment at the end like jeaniebean55 suggested. Great card. I'm sure the organist loved it.

I like the sentiment. I may modify it and use it. Thank you for the inspiration.

You will need 4 pieces of 4-14 x 12 Whisper White cardstock. This will give you 8 "panels" to put 10 candles on each.
Score each piece on the 12" side at 5-1/2 and 11. This will leave 1" "tab" to connect the pieces together. Take the first piece with the 1" tab on the right hand side. Glue the left side of the second piece on top of the 1" "tab".
Continue gluing your pieces until all are attached.
The back of the first piece right hand "panel" is the front of the card. Fold the remaining pieces back and forth until all are folded into a 4-1/4 v 5-1/2
'stacked" card.

I hope this makes sense and you are able to make the card.
I like your "don't burn the house down" sentiment.
Please post your completed card.
Happy Stampin'!!!

modify away, CB! sounds like you're on your way to a fabulous card.
stampindoe, I love your milestone card (now happily saved in my favs). Very much appreciating your directions and everything makes sense except the 4 pieces of 4-14 x 12. What is 4-14? Thanks so much for this inspiration!

ETA: never mind, stampindoe ... my brain just kicked in and it finally clicked. lol!

Quite some years ago, I had to make a 90th birthday card for a (male) cousin who lived in Wales (I am in Australia). I was literally just STUCK as to what I could do - but eventually came up with this simple design which you can see here in my gallery: Scallop Edge Medallion 90th I really, really wanted to put "90" instead of the sentiment in the square but I didn't have any number stamps big enough and because this was the era before there was a die for everything, I had no number dies either. So you could substitute number dies instead of the sentiment - or even use some Thickers Number stickers instead.

I was really overthinking about the card before I made it as I wanted it to be special so even when I posted it, I wondered if it was "special" enough. Some weeks later, we had a phone call from Wales saying how much he loved the card because I had made it especially for him. That was all that really mattered - he loved it because I made it Hope this helps!

Glad you figured it out. Of course I meant four pieces measuring 4-1/4x12.
Have fun making your card!

Thank you everyone for your inspiration. I just finished my card. I'd post pictures, but I don't think I can do that yet.

For the front, I found a stamp in my collection that said, "did someone turn up the heat in here..." I also put a fireman on the front with a hose that has water coming out. The inside is similar to stampindoe's, but instead of cutting strips for the candles, I used a candle die that I had. I think it turned out pretty well. I can't wait to give it to him.
