Default 100 Day Ideas?

I have a picture of my daughter from 100 Day. For those of you without kids in school, 100 Day is a celebration that the lower grades have to celebrate the 100th Day of school. The kids all bring in 100 of something and they have a special celebration. Any ideas on how to scrap this? Is there anything out there for this phenomenon that I haven't seen?

12 x 12. I have one 4 x 6 photo...whatever I do is going to need to take up a lot of space! I was thinking of typing 100 in various fonts all over a page and printing a half-toned or less sheet to put behind the picture.

What did she take in to school? Mine had done a necklace of 100 cheerios she (read mom) spray painted silver. Don't have a picture, so can't show you. This was kg, so she was very proud of stringing all them herself!!

Wow...I didn't realize this was a national thing...I thought only my son's school did that! (but now that I recall, he brought home an inivitation that was a 100 asking parents to come to their 100th day party! I guess there wouldn't be invitations out there if other schools didn't do this!)

What did she bring? My son brought marbles when he was in 1st grade and put them in a decorated box. In that case I could maybe use one of the solid circle stamps or do the shaving cream background to simulate marbles.

The 100's in different fonts is a neat idea too.

My daughters both took pennies (read mom doesn't have time or energy to find 100 of anything else, LOL!) There are always lots of pennies around here since DH empties his change into a big jug every day.

Jan, I like your idea of various fonts. What about on vellum? Could you find a picture of her school and enlarge it? Or maybe enlarge her pic and have it softly in the background. I like the spotlighting idea if you could make that work. Hmmm... Or scan what she had 100 of as a background paper.

Also, It would be neato if her teacher wrote a note about that day that you could include!

Well, this was from two years ago and we are now in a different school. I like the idea of penny background paper!

You could do copper cirlcles for the background and use other copper accessories to go with the copper from the pennies

I know what you mean about using pennies because they are easy...you could also read into the same thing about the 100 marbles!

It's international. We live in Canada and our school district does it also and has for years.

Jan - use a penny, the good old Abe side, to stamp the vellum. I've used something that is sticky like dimensionals and attached a wad of paper to the back as a "handle". Also, plasticine/playdo can be molded into a handle shape and adhered to the penny.

PS. The only reason I spray painted the cheerios was so she wouldn't eat them before she got them to school. They were a favourite snack at one time.

I really like that idea. maybe you could find clip art of a penny and add that in every so often or type out one hundred in different languages?

My dd took 100ea of 100 dollar bills from some play money that we got at Chuck E Cheese. I found that amusing - 100 and $100.

100 M & M's would have been better, since they have a ton of paper and embellishments with them on it now! But the chances of them being eaten (either by me or by her, LOL!) were far more likely!

Make sure you embellish the page with pennies! Maybe find a penny with the year of the celebrated day! Soak it in hot sauce and make it shiny.
Just an idea.

I sent my kid to school last year with 100 pencil top erasers. We never got them back, so they must have enjoyed using them for the rest of the year!

How about on your title you use pennies or pictures of pennies for the zeros in 100? You know you're going to have to share the final results with us!!!

Do you know of any books they used to celebrate? We always use Ms. Kindergarten Celebrates 100 Days of School. You could include a copy of the cover on the page also.

I don't know which books and this picture is almost two years old, so it's a little late to ask.

But so far I LOVE all the ideas. Stupidly, I have spent the entire evening on this board instead of scrapbooking!!! Oh well. One more day of relaxation before my 3 darlings head off to school and my other older darling goes to work and leaves me all alone to suffer Guess I might get more done after tomorrow at that!

Default I would also include...

... lists of other items the children brought in to school. Surely your daughter remembers some of the other entries into the 100s! So, with your fancy fonts, do "100 Pennies" and "100 M&Ms" and "100 Pencils"...

One year for my oldest son (now 11) , he took 100 golf tees. Last year, my youngest (now 6) wore a stamped sweat shirt to school. I stamped 4 sets 25 balls from "Have a Ball" set on the computer iron on paper. Cut them out, and ironed them on a dark sweatshirt. Then using one of the fonts on the computer that looks like kids handwriting, I typed, "25 basketballs +25 baseballs + 25 tennis balls + 25 soccer balls = 100 balls for 100 days of fun". Seemed to go over well.

I teach kindergarten and we celebrate this day every year. How about finding something 100 years old and taking a picture of it to send to school that day. I realize it's not 100 things, but it's another way to think about the number 100. I always have my children draw a picture of themselves as they might look in 100 years. They are always funny.
Also their answers to "What would you buy for $100?" are rather humorous.

I taught Kindergarten for years...and yes, the 100th day is an international institution!
I love the penny/copper idea that has been suggested...(and a great use for all the great new SU! copper stuff!)
Jan, If you have to fill more space on your page, how about a shaker box containing 100 little items...copper beads? sequin stars? Just a thought...definitely post your page when you finish it! You are always the Queen of ideas and have helped me out so much with all your posts!
Happy Stamping!
