I remember mine...it was Brushstroke Alphabet and Numbers. For the SAB that year (2004), I received the Lilltle Love set. I like Little Love, do not like the Brushstroke alpha or numbers. I am not even sure I have used the numbers at all.

Yep, mine was an alphabet set(not sure of the name---but it is retired). Was an alphabet, because i was a die hard scrapbooker, was not going to make cards at all LOL. Yeah right, i havent touched my scrapbooks in about 3 years.

I was just thinking about this the other day, mine was Bitty Bolds ~ I don't sitll have it though ~ I gave it to my nieces a few years ago. I also remember ordering perfect plum and mellow moss ink pads in my first order! (I know that wasn't the op question, but just had to share!) And now several years later, wow ~ too many sets to even count! Yikes!

I just found my old SU stamp sets, lol, and used my craft knife to cut them down so they stamp perfectly now. One was the baby hand/foot set and the other I only have a crayon, now I am sure it came with other stamps, lol, but the only one I could find was the crayon. I also found about 20 other retired stamps including some from DOTS, lol, can you believe it, before DOTS became CTMH. It was cool finding them.

LOL! I got Watercolor Minis, too, and tried so hard to make something I liked! I'd see samples and think, "Gee, why can't I make this set work that well?" Even my CASEs didn't seem to be...me.

Can't remember which set I bought first (might have been Frosty or versatile verses), but my style has changed a lot in 5 years. I am so glad I always find plenty of "have to haves" in the catty each year!

Simple Wishes, a Basic Black classic pad, water color pencils, and blender pens. *LOL* I used that set to make some kid birthday cards for parties my children were going to, but that's about it.

My first SU set was Nice and Easy Notes. I wasn't even into stampin' at that time (summer, 1999). My neighbor was having a "book party: and I bought it to decorate my envelopes when I sent letters etc back home. I'll have to dig it out of my stash and play with it. Still a very cute set...one for many occasions. It's special cause it's my "first".

My first set was a 4 piece country set foam mounted. I can't remember the name. Yes, I still have it and have given it to my kids. I went to a party and the demo did so many things so quickly (no hands on back then in 95 at that show) that I was overwhelmed. I used it a few times and hated the flat look and burried it in my crafting stuff. Fast forward to spring 04... my neighbor is a SU demo and I went to a party at another neighbor's home and had so much fun making cards that I bought another set. This time it was Sketch and Event. I love this set. It has made many a card and needless to say I'm hooked and love stamping now. I think it was the layers that made the difference for me and getting my own hands into the process that got me bitten by the stampin bug. I think I will always stamp.
Great thread!!

My mom started stamping in the early '90s. We did some, but were not really into it in a big way. Then someone introduced my Mom to SU. A couple of years later, Flutterbys and Fanciful Flowers or Flashy Florals were given to me for my birthday about five years ago. I've been hooked ever since! (And after reading this thread, my collection of what I thought was an extravagant 50 some odd sets looks quite normal! LOL)

My very first set was Favorite Teddy. I thought it was versatile and I would use it a lot... little did I know how fast this addiction would grow! I hate to think how amateurish my very first cards were... Oh well, it's the thought that counts, right

My first SU purchase was some kids ink pads. I've since learned to get those 1/2 price at Hobby Lobby & save SU money for myself! LOL!

First stamp set: Fall Fun, then the apple wheel, then the old Recipe Card set (the one with the Recipe card stamp in it). I thought, "I can do this as it will be a tax write off for my PC business." Unfortunately I ran out of ways to consider the rest tax write offs!

My first sets were during sale-o-bration two years ago. I wanted to be able to make cards for my grandma in a nursing home, always loved paper crafting, and a friend at work was demo doing stamp camps and I was hooked. I bought at least 4 sets that I can remember....

lovely as a tree (still use all the time)
simple sketches (loved the two-step stamping, rarely use it now)
a set of greetings (forgot the name, I rarely use it)
and wonderful words (which I use all the time, even though I cut them poorly)

Thanks for the memories!

My first sets were Halloween Hedgehogs and Just Flying By. My Mom and I were introduced to Stampin' Up! right when the retired list was first out. Those two sets were just too cute to pass up!

Oh boy! My first SU purchase was so long ago that they weren't even sets then! I went to my first SU party in 1989 and bought a single stamp for Christmas that has a house with snow falling around it and the saying "All Hearts Come Home for Christmas." I still have that stamp and every so often I'll use it on Christmas card envelopes.

I remember when SU started selling "sets" and the very first one I bought was Chore Chart and it was foam mounted.

Was that a 2 step morning glory set? I got that 1 and Flashy Florals - can't remember which was first. Roses in Winter is a better but close rendition of Flashy Florals. I first got hooked on SU in the 90's because of the in-home FREE demonstrations AND their stamp sets which were reasonably priced. I could buy STUFF to stamp with rather than pay to attend a class elsewhere.

My first order was for Simple Wishes and A Tree for All Seasons... both of which are no longer my style and have passed on... Nice and Easy Notes was a second order and that has passed on, too. I don't keep sets I never use. Guess my style has really evolved!

I have no idea what it's called, but my first set was a Christmas set of 4, with an angel, Santa, something else, and a To/From; it's kind of countryish looking. I think I also bought Itty Bitty Backgrounds at the same time.

My first set was Beautiful Batik, and it is still one of my favorites to this day! I actually got it as a part of my hostess rewards along with some other sets (some of which I really am not a fan of anymore). Yes, I hosted a gathering before I had ever bought anything from SU!!!

When I had never stamped before, I attended a workshop with the intent of Stamping in my scrapbooks. I ended up buying Nice and Easy Notes and a black ink pad. (Not too good for scrapping). Next workshop (I hosted) I got Border Builders and Borders Mini. (Thought they would be good for scrapping!) Do you think I have scrapped anything since (4 years ago???) I am totally into the cards and have about 100 sets now. I don't really care for my original stuff, but can's bear to part with anything!

Christmas Peace was my first rubber stamp set. If it weren't for my neighbor Susan inviting me to her Stampin' Up! party, I would never have gotten into rubber stamping! Now I am happily addicted.

I too was a mellow moss, perfect plum, and pale plum gal. However, my first set was a Christmas one...had a snowman with wooden sticks you stamped separately as his arms. However, that's all I ordered, just the stamp set. So when it came in, I rushed home, only to realize...no ink or paper! So, then I ordered my first ink listed above!

It's been 5 years in September, technically, but surprisingly, I do! It was the smile set. At the time I had no idea what I was doing, lol, but that set was easy for me to use!
