Default your first SU set

Do you remember what your very first SU set was? What got you "hooked" to SU? With me it was the hedgehogs. I never even heard about SU, and when I first saw the catalog I was hooked. I had to have the holiday hedgehogs, I totally messed it up when I mounted it (didn't trim the rubber off) but I love that set and I will never get rid of it.

So now it's your turn, what was your first ever SU set that you purchased?

I think my first one was a morning glory set....don't even know what it was truly called. It had a million different stamps in it all coordinating to do one thing or the other.

Mine was "I like your style". But frankly I wasn't pulled into SU when I first saw it. I already had hundreds of stamps and I wasn't seeing anything I had to have. Then SCS and TJ happened and I slowly got the itch to HAVE the sets that I saw being used. Then the price thing got me. I like the variety of styles in the catalog.

My first set was Borders Mini....I just loved the prject that was done with it. I had never stamped before and I was right in the middle of trying to find my "style" I signed up to be a demo the next month so I can get the discount...

it's been 3 years now and I have only ever sold 1 set and I still regrete selling it. so needless to say I have 200 + sets including my varey 1st one.

Mine was Loving Memories....it was the perfect sentiment for me for sympathy cards. I also got Watercolor Minis which I completely regret! Never could do anything with it that I liked.

Ditto, I was hooked at first sight. I can't remember the name of my first set, but I, too, didn't trim before I mounted. Ruined the set trying to fix it later.

The first set I remember knowing the name of is Little Layers.

My First set was Watercolor Garden a few years ago. I have stamped for over 20 years but had never heard of Stampin Up. I just stumbled on to a garage sale of a Demo who was cleaning out her room and was hooked immediately. Thinking back I wish I had purchased all she had.

It was called Branch, or Branches. I didn't know to keep the label at that time. It had a branch, an apple, a birdhouse, and some flowers. I still like it and used it yesterday. I'll have to look it up to see if I can find how old it is. It must be at least 10 years. Eileen

For me the thing that hooked me was the stamp cleaner, spritzing tool, and the tearing edge. I became a demo before ever even going to a camp or workshop. I owned NOTHING! My first sets were the Starter Kit.

Mine was Framed Fun from the Stampin' Memories catty in 2003 I thought I'd be able to use it in my scrapbooks, but I ended up hating EVERYTHING I made with it LOL. It has since been sold along with a few others I never used.

My very first set was Stars & Swirls and I still use it fairly often. Made a card for my hubby last week with it! I was doing an order to help out a friend and wasn't so sure if I really wanted to get into *another* hobby, so I picked one I liked that didn't cost much. Dozens of sets and lots of money later...

Mine was baby firsts I think . . . I mounted it so poorly, yet I can still stamp fine with it and I will never get rid of it, I love that baby. I also know watercolor minis was my first SAB set, I am pretty sure Little Shapes was in that order too. I have them all.

I don't have this set, but I think it is really cute. Maybe someone should open a thread challanging everyone to make a card with their least used set. I think that would be fun!

My first set was Alphabuilders. I got it to use for scrapbooking . . . which I haven't touched much since because that set was a springboard into other sets and card making. Now, 147 sets later, I should probably focus on getting my son's scapbook up to date.

My first set is a foam mounted set - anyone else remember those? It's dated 1994. Don't know the name because I didn't keep the sticker thingy. It's a doll house set. You could buy pads of paper with a drawing of a doll house on it ... the stamps are the furniture and people. Very cute ... haven't used it in a million years as my youngest has out grown it. Does anyone remember this set?

I bought this before I was into stamping .. I had gone to a party and had to buy something. I got this set for my daughter ... it was probably 10 years later before i actually got interested in stamping.

I fell in love with SU as soon as I saw the catty, I ordered one stamp set, Equestrian something before it retired in 2004 and bought a starter kit before the first set even arrived. I love those horses and still use it today for cards and SB pages.

It's kind of a relief to hear from folks that not all of their sets are perfectly trimmed and mounted. I thought I was the only one who had some undercutting going on in the first few sets I trimmed.

My first SU set was Cool Cat. Love that little guy!!!!!!

First sets, how fun! I went to my first party 3 years ago, I was intrigued by stamps at Micheals, but didn't know what to do with them so hadn't gotten started. I got In the Sky (so sad it retired), Frosty, and Trick or Treat, plus a few micsellaneous ink pads. And I was hooked for ever after! Just signed up to be a demo, my kit arrives tommorrow!

Well....I decided this is the perfect thread for my 1,000th post!!!!!

I have been at SCS from the beginning and it was searching for SU sites that brought me here. I found a link on nuttnhoney's website.

My very first SU set was Nice and Easy Notes which I absolutely hate and wish they'd retire!!!! That being said..I haven't purchased one I didn't like since! I am always surprised and delighted by the sets that have become my favorites as they were not always the ones I was as wild about as others.

I find the fact SU's sets are wood mounted a big plus since I am too lazy to mount them when I need them. This way I mount them once and I am done. I am sure by looking at my cutting and mounting technique you can tell what my first sets were!

Mine was Bow Bear. Initially, the catalog was completely overwhelming. My cousin was a demo at the time and got me started, quite innocently I might add. I never thought I'd get into stamping. But, now I'm a complete addict and SU cheerleader. Who knew?

Mine was Contemporary Collection. I thought it would be versatile. I guess it was, but I "outgrew" it very quickly. I didn't really know what my style was at that time.

My first set was Simply Sketches. I liked the idea of the Two-Step process and thought it was very unique. That's what "hooked" me on SU, but what really "reeled me in" was the color coordination. I truly enjoy SCS to see the endless possiblities people come up with in only about 48 (now plus five) colors!

Mine was Painted Garden. A friend of mine had this set and I fell in love with it.
You could do so much with that set.
In fact I made a card a long time ago for a little girl using this stamp set.

I use the Swirl for the Sun and Face.
Tulip for the Bust and I turned it upside down and use it as the skirt also. then drew lines for legs, and added shoes. And for hair I used the half flower.
It was a funny card. I really thought outside the box for this one.

Thank You me too! I went to a party for the another company and kept thinking gees this is a lot of work mouting and unmounting, not to mention I would most likely loose those little clear stamps and never have complete sets.
