I am always looking for good masculine cards, so thanks for this thread, I will check out all the postings!

If you do a search in the gallery for certain sets, you will find lots of great ideas. For masculine cards, my favorite sets are: Noble Deer, Lovely as a Tree, The Back Nine, Set Sail, Angler, Nature Prints, Coast to Coast.

Here's one of my favorite masculine cards from my gallery that I made for my brother's birthday using Noble Deer: //www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=349423&cat=500&ppuser=7835

Hope that helps. :)

Unfortunately for me my DH likes bold bright colors and my Noble Deer just looks silly in yo you yellow, KWIM??? So I tend to make him polka dots or other simple designs but with big bright colors. He likes flowers too!

lbirus 03-16-2007 04:28 AM

I was determined to make a masculine card from this set! Pailseys can be masculine!
Here's how it came out:
Man-ly Paisley

Oh yes, geometric shapes and designs! Great suggestion!

I also use Little Pieces a lot for masculine cards. There is a great one on the Little Pieces inspiration sheet (sorry I don't have a picture of one in my gallery).

qvande 03-16-2007 05:27 AM

Here are a few of mine. It definitely takes more thinking to do a masculine card:

Here is a card from my gallery using the ARTIFACTS stamps. I also used the Ranger "country cottage" alcohol inks for the background.:)

Here is one from my gallery that is pending approval right now (as of 6:45a.m. AZ time)

http:////www.splitcoaststampers.com/...0&ppuser=22306

And this one would work for a guy...matter of fact I gave it to a guy

http:////www.splitcoaststampers.com/...0&ppuser=22306

Here's one using leaves...I think anything with leaves and fall colors could work for a guy or woman

http:////www.splitcoaststampers.com/...0&ppuser=22306

Here's one with the vintage truck...you'd want to change the saying though. I did give THIS one to a guy but he'd just helped me fix my car and he's a brash kind of guy so I thought he'd get a laugh out of it.

http:////www.splitcoaststampers.com/...0&ppuser=22306

Here's one I made for my brother.

There may be more in my gallery but I HAVE to go to work. I should be dressed and ready in 8 minutes and I'm still sitting here in my underclothes using SCS. Yikes! ;-)

Here are some from my gallery. My DH isn't into sports or hunting or cars, so I just try to go with a nature theme (we both love to hike and camp).

I think the best thing to do is search the gallery for "Masculine." Nature, sports, and any sort of transportation set work especially well. Some of my favorite sets to use for guys are: Lovely as a Tree, Close to Nature, Fantastic Foliage, Set Sail, Yukon, Fly Fishing and Calm Seas.

Masculine Cards from My SCS Gallery:

I gave this to my FIL for a recent birthday. It uses the pear image from All Natural:

//www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=461278&cat=500&ppuser=26422

This card features a greeting from Cheery Chat and uses scraps effectively (imo):

//www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=461265&cat=500&ppuser=26422

This masculine card features the fern from Touch of Nature:

//www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=434593&cat=500&ppuser=26422

From Other SCS Galleries (in My Favorites):

This one by CrabbyAbbe uses the faux leather technique:

//www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=76972

I love the color combo CrabbyAbbe used on this card. If you change the flower to a pear or some other less-feminine image it could work nicely:

//www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=71649

This card by Indy_Patti has a very versatile layout:

//www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=223031

I really like this striped birthday card by Christeena:

//www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=258507

I like the colors in this card by cindy501:

Wow, blueheron, I gotta say, you do some beautiful work! Thanks for sharing. By the way, what happened with the job interview as per your first card sample (curious minds ...:rolleyes: )

blueheron 03-16-2007 11:56 AM

:) GardenB-
Thanks for the compliment! You made my day--make that MONTH!

As for the job--I didn't get it. He called to tell me that he thought I was "overqualified" and would be bored with the job, so he offered it to someone else. Can't argue once something is already decided. Got that same response at several other job interviews, too--but the good news is I START A NEW JOB ON MONDAY!!! And the interviewer called to tell me how beautiful my thank you card was. Even though I mailed it on the same day as the interview, she didn't get it until four days later. By then I had already been offered the job, so the card had nothing to do with it. But it was nice of her to call! (And maybe it makes her feel better about her choice).

blueheron 03-16-2007 11:59 AM

Sorry to hijack---back to everyone showing samples of masculine cards!

I have a really hard time with masculine cards. If I could sneak away and visit a Hallmark store (or the card section of Wally Mart) I could get some ideas!LOL But if my husband caught me I would be worse than dead. I couldn't buy any more stamp stuff!!!!!

Here's one from my gallery with Faux Metal.

I made this one for DH for new years because he loves crab season.

I love Balmy Breezes, Lovely As A Tree and the retired Coast to Coast for masculine cards. I don't have much in my own gallery, but here are some cards that I saved to my favorites to use as inspiration. I think these are great and I hope these wonderful stampers don't mind that I share their cards on this thread.
