Default Need some help on scrapin room

I am lucky enough to have my son meet the woman of his dreams (and now mine). He moved out and now I am taking over his room for my scrapbooking adventures. Now hence the call for help! Does anyone have any ideas of how to set up a room? I am looking for storage ideas for my paper, ribbon punches etc. I was able to find some lateral storage drawers at Wallmart when I was there the other day but I need to get organized and have no idea of where to start, so I thought I would go directly to some of the "queens" or organization.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You might want to try looking at everyone's posted pictures of rooms.
Studios, Rooms and Craft Closets by barbfarmd at Splitcoaststampers

This might help you "see" what you might like or not like. I can say grab a cup off coffee and take a potty break first. There are lot's of pictures and you might be a while....

Hugs,
Joani

I agree look through the gallery of stampiing spaces and get some ideas of the size of your room and what you want to do in there. I have found that no matter where my craft room has been(and it has been many places, LOL) I have always needed an L shaped desk area---I put a long table and a short desk together and that helps me to keep a clean work surface, so i can push my things that i am not working on at the moment onto the small desk and reach right for it when i need it, KWIM. And remember that it is an ever evolving space, as you use it, you will figure out what you need to do to change it. But get a table in there and start scrapping!!!!

I just got mine all set up. You can see pix in my gallery and details on my blog. Do you have an IKEA store nearby? I don't have as many supplies as others. I love looking at all the stamping spaces posted in the gallery - there are some really creative and organized stampers out there! Have fun! Kim

well as someone who shops and then organizes more than she actually scraps or stamps here are some of what I've come up with.

All of my paper gets stored in vertical paper storage holders (by cropper hopper for my 12x12 or I get the cheap cardboard magazine holders for my 8x11)

I am a ribbon hoarder. LOOOOVE ribbon. I found giant clear glass canning jars at my dollar store and store all my ribbon in them. At first it was rolled on clothes pins- but they took up too much room. Then I had it loose but they kept getting tangled. Now I have them wound and secured with those tiny black rubber bands you can find in the hair section of drugstores.

My stamps are now all unmounted and in 3" 3-ring binders. I just finished last night.

What really helped is making a list of what I had to find storage for then seeing what I already had and what I needed. I spent hours in the various galleries looking for ideas.

This is a great tip! I am re-organizing our craft room and made a list of what items needed homes and what kind of space (wall, closet, counter, etc) there is available for them. Also, if you're an...ahem, "acquirer" like me, you'll want to make sure that your storage solutions leave room for any future purchases.

HTH!

There is a great book called Organized Scrap Rooms that I got through either Simple Scrapbooks or Creating Keepsakes but I have seen it at J's too. It has a bunch of questionnaires that get you thinking about your organizational style. Then it gives you tips and visuals on how to find organization to meet your style and needs. I thought it was a great help and it gave me lots of good ideas. I really recommend it. Another place to check is at Big Picture Scrapbooks where they are running a class on organization. Again, it is geared a lot toward scrappers but there are a ton of great ideas for stamp supplies as well. Good luck and have fun! Don't forget to post a few pics when you are finished!

Default thank you!!!!!

Thank you all for the inspiration. I did look in the gallery real quick and boy and boy what an inspiration. I'm grabbin that cup of tea and planning on sitting awhile and looking at all of the great ideas. Thanks so much. I love the idea about turning a Pringles container into a ribbon holder. I also saw on one website how they turned cheap rain gutters into holders for your punches. So many creative woman (and men) out there.

Thank you all again. As soon as I get my scrapin/stampin room in order I will be sure to post.
