NO NO NO just kidding. It was a big ewwwwwwwwww. Rubber and ink, while two of my personal favorite things on earth, are not on my dietary regimen. |
"Couldn't you just pee your pants?" What a way to wake a person up! I was sitting here half asleep reading these and all of a sudden this one pops us!! ROTFLMAO

My DH is out of the country working and my son and I are going to see him in about a month. Last night my DH asked me what we were going to do all day while he was at work and my first thought was to stamp. Then I realized I wouldn't have my stuff. I am limited to what I can take because of airline restrictions and all the stuff my DH needs me to bring him, but I am trying to figure out a way to take some of my stampin' stuff. Maybe I won't take any clothes and just buy new ones over there! Since we will be going to see him about every 6 weeks I wouldn't have to worry about packing each time!

You know you're a Desperate Stamper when...
Your husband talking with a group of people and casually says "My wife is totally into rubber."
And the entire room goes silent.
Yeah...that one took some explaining. ~ K

Kaylyn,
For some reason, I didn't see your post before. That is so funny! I'll bet it DID take some explaining! Too funny. Thanks for the laugh.

I had to laugh when I read this! I ended up licking one of my demos stamps last weekend on accident! I was trying to talk and huff at the same time anf got the stamp a little too close. I had real red, yoyo yellow, and brilliant blue on my lips for about an hour! They all laughed at me, and my demo asked "please don't eat my stamps." I couldn't belive that I had done that. I will also agree that the ink does taste icky.

windycitystamper,
First, thanks a ton for starting the "you know you're addicted when" thread
I needed the laughs more than you'll ever know! Now, if I was even a little
computer savvy I'd probably be able to do the search, however I am not
so much! But thank you for the instructions on "how to". Are
you from the windy city? I'm in the 'burbs of the windy city.
Sorry for the slight hijack on the posted thread! This is also a great one!
Laughter is the best medicine! Thank you, EVERYONE!
Happy Easter!
Mary

Well, I haven't licked my stamps, YET, but I have an old toothbrush in the bathroom I use when washing some of my stamps. I went in there on day to wash a wheel & after I got finished, I realized I had use my NEW toothbrush on it. Oh well.
Then I was stamping & was using my pad & mist...I went to spritz the scrubby & spritzed myself right in the face....at least I wear glasses!!
I have caught myself wiping my stamps on my jammies more than once....so they are rainbow colored now instead of just monchromatic!!
Ahh, the joys of being a SU addict!!!

Okay I can totally relate to licking my stamps. I have done that on occasion. I get so desperate sometimes in the mornings I will go out and just stamp for 3 minutes before I go to work if I am running ahead of schedule. 3 minutes over a 5 day work week adds up to a page done
Hey you heard of the show desperate housewives why not desperate stampers.

I would agree with the calling in from work even though I have not tried that yet.. But for me is when AC Moores is having a sale and I drive 2 hours round trip to go there and purchase paper and other scrapbook items......

Licking stamps? Never tried it (not yet, anyway). But I remember growing up that for some reason, my brother would lick the plate and silverware before dinner to ensure a particular spot at the table. I think both of my brothers still do that!

I've sort of "licked" mine too so dont feel alone. I quickly put my tongue on a stamp to wet the ink and then rubbed it on my hand!! LOL it was a light colour and I couldnt be bothered to fight my way out my stamping corner to get a cleaner..
LOL

I went to a Close to My Heart gathering once, and the demo actually had us just stamp the stamp on a piece of copy paper until the ink was gone - no cleaner or wipes or anything. I was baffled, I did what I was told but couldn't believe that she never cleaned or advised them to clean their stamps. As an exSU Demo I kept my mouth shut (tongue was raw) out of pure manners, but was shocked, and it was all I could do to not want to run in the kitchen and get a wet paper towel for all the rubber babies, LOL!
But NO I have to say I have never LICKED a stamp or felt in any way driven to do that, LOL!
But you know you are a desparate stamper when you get your DD stamps for Easter, LOL! Thankfully she loves them as much as me, tee hee!

Oh, and to add to the "you know you are a desparate stamper" -- I would say you would know you were desparate when you feel that everyone else should be a stamper and you want to tell complete strangers in line at Michaels to put all those stickers back on the shelves and go get stamps instead!!!
Oh my head, Saturday there was a lady ahead of me in line with no kidding about 50 packs of stickers. My head was spinning. SHe had 11 yeras of photos she was taking out of her photo albums and was making scrapbooks. As the cashier was ringing her up, I so wanted to scream for her to put them back, she could make so many much nicer pages with stamps, but I restrained myself but it was SOOO HARD!!!!
LOL and my sister retiled her kitchen and I made sure she kept the leftovers for stamping!!

I am SO glad I'm not the only one who stamps myself into a corner...I start out with a big clean dining room table, and jump up to get (brads, another color of cardstock, ink, etc, about 50 times) until I have covered the table, the chairs on either side of me, the floor within reach, and I have a space just large enough for the paper cutter (without the arm extended) to stamp in!
You know you are a desparate stamper when...you open two windows on your 'puter...one for the gallery, and one to play on the posts while the next page of the gallery is opening!

Oaky I can so relate to people at Michaels buying stickers. The other day I was there and this lady was buying TONS of 12x12 paper to make a book. I so wanted to bring her back to my house and show her what she could do with STAMPS.

Here are my two favorite non-SU! stamps:
Enclosed is a HANDMADE CARD as such it deserves a place of honor and respect in your home and should not be casually discarded like an ordinary store-bought card.
and
This is an individually crafted WORK OF ART any smudges, spotches, or other irregularities are intentional and do not diminish the quality of this piece in any way.
They came from a company called Stamp-a-dee-do-da that I don't think is in business any longer.
I just love this thread! Have a great day ladies!!
