Default Where to Buy Used Stamps

Hi everyone! I'm interested in buying some used stamp sets as I'm unable to buy them new on my student budget. I use them primarily in my art journal and in my cardmaking. I've been trying to monitor the buy/sell forum here on the splitcoaststampers website, but all of the stamps I like, someone else beats me to them. I love cute character stamps such as Clearly Besotted, Lawn Fawn, florals from Avery Elle and Wplus9, and the Greeting Farm to name a few. I've tried the ebay route but not much luck there either. Does anyone else have any suggestions?

You could try posting your wish list in the "In Search of" forum. I'm not sure how much traffic it really gets, but I always browse there. I'm not always in a purge-and-post-a-for-sale-list mood (it's time consuming and I sometimes find it stressful) but every now and then, someone's looking for something I am willing to part with, and I can get in a single sale here or there.

I know a lot of people like to buy on facebook groups, but I don't have any more advice than that-- I'm not on facebook, so I've never gone that route.

Goodwill has an online site-and they sell stamps in lots cheap. I would keep an eye on them. Whatever you dont want you can trade with friends or re-donate or re-sell.

Subscribe to the companies you like and you will get sale notices. Also watch their clearance bins for even better pricing.

I think places like Dick Blick may offer a student discount. Check them and Jerry's artrama, etc because you will need other supplies. Even 10% is better than nothing and adds up over time.

Have you ever shopped on Ebay? I have gotten great deals there. But before you do, make sure you read everything about buying. Seriously. There are a number of rules you really need to know to protect yourself and your account. Reading the seller listings fully. And understand that the price plus the shipping is your true cost. If the stamp is too expensive....wait. Most things show up there sooner than later.

On Facebook that I have seen here but not tried yet
stamps and things, stressfree craft, and Stamping addicts are buy/sell forums.

If you have a local scrapbook store check to see if they hold rummage sales. They are a great way to purchase supplies (including stamp sets) that fellow crafters are no longer using.

Look on craigslist.com. I've seen stamps listed on there.

I second the suggestion of posting and ISO (In Search Of) here on SCS. I always check there and have posted a few times as well.

Check Overstock.com and other sites like Joann.com and 123stitch.com
Overstock has some stamps surprisingly cheap considering they are still new. And the other two sites have sales a lot. It might not be as cheap as you could pay for a used set but it might help.

I'm a big fan of those companies too... here are a few things I do:

1. I go on ebay and search for "clear stamp lot" under the general craft category. I sort it by "most expensive first." (Sounds counter-intuitive I know...) A lot of times people will bunch together different brands and sell the "lot" for such an insanely affordable price. There may be a few sets included you don't love in the lot, but you still get the ones you wanted for less than you would have paid elsewhere. This is especially true for Hero Arts clear stamp sets. They have cute sets too. For example... I just sold an 8 clear sets lot on Ebay for $25 which had stamps from Unity Stamps, Verve Stamps, Basic Gray, Hero Arts, etc. Some people don't want to spend the time or money to list things separately and just want to sell them as fast as possible so they price them well.

2. Joann.com now sells Mama Elephant, Avery Elle, and Lawn Fawn - those companies have cute stamps too. Basically every month all their stamps go on sale for 40% off. This is when I stock up. The just started to carry Mama Elephant stamp sets and they have an adorable Panda set, a critters set with Balloons, and a Puppy set. Although Lawn Fawn doesn't go on sale (I don't know why) - I use coupons when joann.com does the $10 off a $30 purchase and variations of that sale... and buy them then.

3. This one works the best for me for sure... I check the Buy/Sell forums every single day - sometimes twice a day. You are right - some sets go very fast - so you have to be sure to check it regularly. It only takes a few minutes and it does pay off with the savings. I find some great My Favorite Things sets and Papertrey Ink sets. I do use the ISO forum but that tends to help me find SU items mainly.

Those are my tips! I hope they help

Here's a "lot" of cute animal stamps like I mentioned above... it's not the specific brands you requested... but could still make some cute cards! It's 6 sets for $12.

Lot of 6 Fiskars Kids Clear Acrylic Stamp Sets, 26 Stamps + Stamp Block NIP | eBay

Here is a great facebook group that allows people to list items for sale but also post pictures of their creations and discussions. It is a little bit like SCS but it is on facebook. You have to be approved, so I guess it is what is called a close group?
