I use both..the three ring ones are less of a hastle, but the post ones make the two page layouts match up closer together...it is really a personal preference..Kerilou
I use post bound if I am making a gift where I know exactly where I am starting and stopping and have a "set" number of pictures or pages. I also use them for "theme" books such as vacations, etc...
For my family I use 3-ring. I have found that the 3-ring binders allowed my the freedom to not feel like I had to scrapbook cronologically. I got really stressed about this!
In a post bound you have to "plan ahead" to know what are on opposing pages or know what is going to be on the back of the page you are working on. Sometimes that was too restrictive. I may want to scrap summer swim pics and then Christmas!
Both have a purpose, so increase your order and buy them all!
I like the 3-Ring personally, because I don't have to take the back off to add or change pages. For gifts for showers and such, however, I use the post bound. They lay flatter and are easy to wrap.
I have used post bound my neighbor prefers strap hinge!
She has to mount her pages though before she puts them in her book with the post bound I don't have to do that!
I have had no problems with my books coming apart either!
I always use postbound. I hate straphinge! I have never tried 3 ring, because I think that it will bug me that the pages don't match up.
What I do, since I don't always scrap chrono, is have a 12x12 box where I keep the completed layouts that are too far ahead for the books. Then I just put them in as I catch up. Granted, this wouldn't work if you were skipping around a lot, but I am mostly caught up so it works great for me.
Right now I have mainly Postbound but am thinking of going to Ring Albums. I have a terrible time adding the extra pages for the post bound. I also tend to add a lot of emblishments and need to add extra strips between the pages. If I am doing a gift album, I'll probably stick with the Postbound since I don't need as many pages.
i have been doing a ring album, i picked it because my pictures are in such chaos, i thought it would be easier to load the pages into a ring album. i do think that the post albums look more finished when they are done, but the ring also looks nice. i do intend to make 6x6 albums for each of my boys, and i think i will make those post.
have a great day everyone!
kirstin
