Talking Wood Blocks

Does anyone know where I can get some 'blank' wooden blocks to mount some rubber stamps I have?? I made a purchase on Ebay w/out looking carefully at the write up and the stamps came on a foam form vs. wood & I'd like to switch it. Thanks!

You can buy a 1"x whatever size width you need at a lumber store or Lowe's and you can get the wood in pine, oak or maple. I think the first two cuts are free and after that, they charge a token amount. You would have to have all your sizes with you so they'd know what to cut.

You won't get a fancy grip on the side and you won't have a nice varnished look, but you can easily do the finish with your Krylon spray.

Another option is to check at a lumber mill to see if they have a scrap pile. Many do and there is no charge.

Or, if you know a woodworker, ask if they have scraps you can have.

I have lots of wood mounts from where I unmounted all my stamps. They have stickers on one side, are sticky on the other side(from where I peeled the stamp off) and might have some ink stains.

But if you want any of them, I would gladly send them to you for the price of postage. Just let me know.

What a kind offer! It's super easy to remove the sticky residue....goo gone is great for that. Then use some fine sanding paper and your blocks are fresh and ready to go! Mounting is easy and when you can get the blocks free...makes it pretty cheap also.

Default Jenga?

Another post somewhere stated that she used Jenga blocks to mount their stamps on (it was for cutting up that background stamp - the one with all the words). You might be able to find an old game at goodwill or salvation army even. A handy individual could then cut those blocks down to be smaller if needed.

Default Blocks

I have ordered them from "Addicted To Rubber Stamps" Website they offer them in all sizes and they have the nice finished handles. I am in Alberta Canada, and they are in California?? It only takes maybe 1 week to get here. I have had great experience with them.

I customer of mine received a bunch of unmounted stamps and got lumber scraps FREE from the lumberyard...she did have to do some sanding, but that just makes her appreciate those stamps more...couldn't hurt to check it out.

I just posted in the BST forum a set of 22 wood mounts/blocks that my husband is making for the Word by Word background set.

Here is the link:
http://forums.splitcoaststampers.com...ht=wood+mounts

They all have rounded edges so no blisters when stamping!
Let me know if this helps!

They are only one size, but you can buy a bunch of cedar blocks at the large home improvement centers. Addicted to Rubber Stamps sells wood mounts.

And if you have unmounted stamps, now is the time to consider trying EZ Mount backing (from .com) and acrylic blocks. Saves all kinds of space and weight in storage, and you can see where you are placing the image on a card. It's just a fun thing to try.

Did you know some of the acrylic (static cling) stamps will cling to a regular wooden stamp? Just discovered this! Of course it defeats the see-through aspect of an acrylic stamp...

I have a number of blocks from unmounting my stamps. Several of them for sets I had never gotten around to mounting on wood so no sticky residue. If you're still looking for some, pm me and I'd be happy to give you more size details and get them to a good home!
