Have any of you used The Wizard? I am thinking of getting it to speed up dry embossing. I am so busy stamping I don't have time for all of my brass stencils.
If anyone has used it, I would really appreciate your opinions. It is a lot of money for something that doesn't work.
I bought mine in May. It was my birthday present (helped justify the cost). I love it! It is multipurpose. You can die cut, dry emboss and use the fiskar texture templates in it. HTH

What is it? I obviously don't have one ;) But I'm always interested in new gadgets!

I bought one last November, so I have the old model. I LOVE it. You can use any competitors dies along with the wonderful Spellbinders' dies. Dry embossing is fun now and I'm actually getting a chance to use all of those brass stencils I've accumulated through the years.
The tool does have a learning curve. Don't get frustrated - it doesn't take long to get the hang of it. Then you'll be using it all of the time. I haven't tried the new model, but it's supposed to be even easier to use.

I've never had a problem with mine. It is the new version. Based on my research, it was difficult to reverse the old version. Now they have a button. I've never had to use it, but I accidently pushed it and it completely threw me off?
I had a question about using the brass stencils. Many of them, esp SU, have several different images on one stencil. Is there a way to keep it from dry embossing all images? Or, do you have to emboss the whole thing, and then cut the image you want?

There is a brown polymer pad that you use to emboss. Only the image covered with the pad will get embossed. You can buy additional pads, then cut them down for the image size you need.

Thanks for the info!
I saw that JoAnn's carries them. Can you say COUPON?!
This is something I posted three days ago to someone's question regarding stencils.
Don't know anything about the zipemate but The Wizard is nice. A friend and I bought one together, though we don't use it very much. It eliminates the need for a light box, you can easily dry emboss on dark cardstock, metal, etc. In addition to regular brass stencils you can use the Sizzix, Fiskars templates and other templates with it and you can also use diecuts with The Wizard. Two things I do not like about The Wizard is that it outlines the edge of the stencil which is fine if you want to layer. The other problem is that some brass stencils have a little hole at the top which will become embossed when using The Wizard so you would have to be carefull when purchasing brass stencils. And, there are other things you can do with The Wizard. It is a fun machine.

Thank you for those opinions. Thats the kind of thing that helps me decide. Also I don't want to pay the $129. Anybody know where it is cheaper?

Unfortunately the Joann's coupons cannot be used on the Spellbinders' products (dies and diecuts). However, take a look at www.scrapbooking-warehouse.com. They have the Wizard for $102.69 and a flat $5.99 shipping rate. When I first got my Wizard I ordered most of my dies from them and had very good service.

Yes! Thank you so much KHogan! That is what I was looking for. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you............on bended knees shining your shoes. Ha!

I just saw a demo with the Wizard at my local stamp store this past weekend. I ended up ordering one. You can avoid the stencil edge "ridge" by cutting the brown polymer pad just a shade (like 1/8") smaller than the size of the stencil. If you use Dreamweaver stencils their stencils come in generally 2 sizes and then the "oval" ones. So I ordered an extra piece of polymer. I plan to cut a custom sized piece for each size of Dreamweaver stencil. Also as an earlier poster suggested I plan to cut some pieces sized to use with my SU stencils. For the $20 investment in polymer I will get much more use out of the $$$ I have invested in brass stencils that I rarely use currently.
Do the same thing to avoid the "hole" in your stencil. Cut that area out of the polymer pad and it won't be embossed into your piece.
Sounds cool. I may have to investigate. After I recover from the bankruptcy the new catalog put me in ;)

Thanks so much for all of the great information and also for the above information on the pads. I ordered the Wizard from scrapbook warehouse last night and will order the pads today.
