I opened my Glitz glitter gel to use this morning and was quite disappointed to see the jar was dried out. I thought I remembered reading somewhere how to revive it but when I did a search I couldn't find it. Can anyone give suggestions? I wasn't sure if I put water in it...glue...alcohol????Any help would be appreciated. It's less than a year old and stored in a place of even temp....Thank You....Merry Christmas!!!
I just recently pulled out a container of the glitz gel I received is an SSS kit and it is dried up. Very disappointing. I had the same thing happen to another brand. Needless to say I won't be buying an of that type of product again. I used it once and it's now headed to the trash.
Oh, and I did watch videos in the past on how to revive it and none worked for me.
I did contact Gina K and they responded quickly...here is what they said:
Hi,
Thank you for contacting Gina K. Designs. We appreciate your business!
It depends on how hard it is. Glitz
Glitter Gel like all gels will eventually dry out and harden. This
is the nature of the product because we do want it to dry on our
projects. I have contacted Therm-O-Web and they told me that
you can add a small amount of warm water to
soften the product.
Hope this helps.
I've had pastes and other products made by Golden for years, and they haven't dried out at all. I do find that many of these "newer" companies' products seem to dry out very quickly. Unfortunately, I usually end up throwing them away, so I won't be buying them anymore. What I'll be doing instead is mixing up my own using some glitter and clear gesso or white modeling paste. Sorry this happened to you. I know it's disappointing and frustrating.
Tim Holtz recommended Press N Seal or Saran Wrap under the lid to help keep glitter paste from drying out. I haven’t had mine long enough yet to see if it works, but I put it on my Nuvo and Gina K jars under their regular lids.
Scrapjanny you are right it wasn't totally dried out but I have been working to "revive" mine but don't think it will work like it did when first bought so this is a good alternative in using it.

Thank you for the suggestion of using clear gesso & glitter! I have both so I will try it.
I am late to the game! I just saw the glitter gel yesterday while watching someone on YouTube and wanted to get a jar or two. Now that I know it dries out relatively fast, I won't waste my money on it.
My Nuvo ones all dried out also..I had several colors. I was able to revive them somewhat by using small amounts of distilled water. But in the end, it became a pain and I threw out the rest of what I had. Luckily, it was only a couple colors, but disappointing.

Did it actually work with warm water? And how much is a small amount? 1 tsp or less?

It did in a way...I used distilled water....just add a little at a time and stirred. It was never as smooth as it was brand new. Could use still, just not in all applications. I looked at it the other day and it is somewhat usable but not as nice when first opened. Hope that helps.
