Default Why I won't be stamping this morning ...!

My avatar is Angus and Floyd, but sadly Floyd went to cat heaven last year, and we've now got this new addition who looks very like him. Her name is Eloise and she adores big Uncle Angus and never gives him a minute of peace. As you can see, they love my desk, so there'll be no stamping for me today!

I have to giggle, Angus looks so content, while the little one looks like there may be mischief in him.
I keep a box or basket on any work space I have, b/c my kitty also likes to help. He is only allowed up there if he is in his box, and when he tries to make a run for something on the table, he gets scolded to get back in his box. My DH thinks its hysterical that he listens and runs back into his box to sulk....only to try again later.

How adorable! My 2 cats always have to be in the middle of everything and are constantly on my stamp table. If we could only train them to stamp and make cards--think of how much more we could get done.

Are cats the funniest things? I have a photo of one of mine laying in the trash can as I scrapped....I think I have broke them of laying across my workspace. The only time they do that anymore is when it is past dinner... they know where to find me for the attention. My female cat, Miss Julie, will get up on the worktable and snag my fingers to her mouth. She does not bite, but her nibbles tell me it is food time.

Now Mr. Socks, prefers to visit me when I am at the computer. He likes to lay across my lower arms/wrists as I type. Fine as I type, although he is heavy, but heck of a hard time using the mouse.

Thanks for the chuckle! That is too cute! I love cats but my DH and DD are both allergic so no cats for me! Your kitties are adorable. And I agree with some of the above posters. It's cute how Angus is just content and Eloise looks like she is gonna get him. lol

Love your photo! I've got two cats, too. They always want to be on top of me whenever I sit down at my stamping table. (Gotta love when they walk in the Dazzling Diamonds!). Thanks for sharing.

So cute!!!!! Kittens are the best. You absolutely NEED this book called Ginger, by Charlotte Voake. It's about a ginger cat called, yep you guessed it, Ginger, who gets pestered by the new kitten. It's for toddlers, but who cares? I love picture books!

I think cats do things like that because they see you sitting there using that space and think "if I lay there, she'll pet me and pay attention to me". They don't realized that you are actually doing something productive with that space.

Very cute! The little kitten is adorable- I hope they get along well as Eloise gets older.

My cat has always gotten on my desk- but the other day she crossed the line. I found one of my "Hand Stamped by" Stamps in the living room and she made a total mess on the top of it too. Whe always opens the drawers and throws stuff out and I have looked the other way because she never really "destroyed" anything. (she even opens my sock drawer and throws them on the rug in front of my dresser!!) She is NOT a kitten. If anyone has any ideas on how to make her behave (not that it would work, mind you) please share them with me. She has toys, scratching posts, and I have tried a water bottle, etc. I have put up with a lot- but her messing with my stamps is crossing the line!! That is sacred ground and the stamps are like gold to me!

Awwww! Precious!

It looks like Angus is giving her lessons on how properly recline on a work surface. Spread out, and take up as much space as possible. It looks like Eloise is getting the hang of it.

Congratulations on the new addition to your family.

Your picture sure gave me a chuckle! Your kitties are darling, too!

Here's why I stamp in the diningroom, instead of quilting in my sewing room:
You've gotta love those little rascals, even when they're in the way...

WOW! My cats do that (lay across the workspace) too!

My girl cat, Pi, likes to "help" mommy scrap and make cards. I particularly appreciate when she decides to walk across my inkpad AND my project.

My boy cat, Bear, prefers to lie across the back of my chair or in a basket across the room and "observe". He's also up for "table scraps": bits of paper that fall from the table that he is allowed to chase and chew.

Thanks for sharing!

I love the kitty stories and pictures. Absolutely adorable. We too lost a cat about a year ago and replaced with a new kitty. I also got an adult cat from a friend after our cat died so the kitty just attacks the older cat all the time. They play now, but it sure didn't seem like playing in the beginning. But little kitty is a pill - she steals things from my crafting table all the time. I find ribbon and yarn all over the house. She knocks things off of the table even when I am workign at it. Its a lot of fun and things take so much longer when 'kitty helps' me craft. She gets scolded and put on the floor but that doesn't last very long. And she has this habit of turning her head when you are scolding her, and its so darn cute, that she gets away with murder in the house. I just love our cats and would have tons if I could. They really are fun and each one is different than the other. But they really aren't any help when you are trying to get stuff done. Mary

I have a big armoire style cabinet from IKEA that I use to hold my stamp stuff, and the doors clip on and off really quickly. My brand new 5 month old kitty that I got on Saturday (his name is Bear too, I saw another on this thread has one named Bear!) just did this last night. He jumped straight from the floor up to the one open spot (where my marker box usually sits.) in the whole cabinet. I was actually in the process of clipping the door back on, and he couldn't resist!

We had to put our lovely boy, Spanky to sleep last year. We decided to adopt a little girl named Chloe to come and be a sister to our three year old Cassie. Chloe looks sweet in this picture, and she really is aodrable but........she is wild. There isn't a safe piece or spool of ribbon in the house.

Tilly -
So sorry for your loss. I'm glad that you found a new friend.
My two kitties are really into stamping too. No ribbon is safe with them around.
They love the way paper crinkles too....

Awwww, that is so sweet! Thanks to everyone for sharing their stories and pics. Real kitty lover here with 2 lovely cats in our household!

We got 2 male rescue cats 2 years ago (Tingha and Tucker) after our Branny boy died. Tucker sits on his cushion in my craft room, he's a very well behaved boy, he just likes to observe. Tingha is another story entirely however! He loves jumping on my desk and laying full length for a tummy tickle. He knocks things off if they get in his way.

I'd made my friend a new home card which had taken me ages to make. I'd made it well in advance and kept it in a box. I got the card out to sign it, left it on my desk and Tingha came in with black muddy paws and walked all over it. It was really thick black mud so the card couldn't be rescued and I had to make another. He was forgiven, of course, as he is just so cute!

Maybe there should be a new challenge started - try to make a card with one or more of your pets (or a baby or toddler in your arms if you are pet free). Or find an embellishment that your pet has taken off with and then make something out of that. That would be fun!!! Our little kitty seems to like the red line tape the best. I told her owner (my daughter) that it would be nice if my tape wasn't all chewed up - it had a line of bite marks in it when I went to use it. Still held but was bumpy. Oh well, I guess I should put my stuff away now. Mary
