Default This is why I appreciate SCS!!!!!

The post called frustrated with stamping made me think because I too had a similar experience. I made my neice a handmade wedding card (see link below) for her wedding back in June. I framed it in a nice silver frame and included it with her wedding gift. I have not heard one word from her about it, not a thank you, not a gee that is nice, nothing. And it's not like I have not been around her, we live in the same town. I am dying to go to her house and see if she even hung it up, probably in a box shoved in a closet!

I appreciate SCS because of the comments made by all of the fellow stampers on cards that I make that I am proud of. This particular card is my "most comments ever" card and I feel like it was worth making it and posting it for the enjoyment of SCSer's since it really didn't mean too much to the person who received it. I just wanted to thank all of you that posted comments and viewed my card and thanks to the person who posted frustrated with stamping as it made me realize that I'm not alone, it happens to others!

Here is the wedding card:

You should ask your sister if she heard anything about the card at all. It is stunning! I can't imagine she wouldn't display it in her house somewhere. But I understand how disappointed you must be. A simply thank you would have been appreciated. Best of luck to you.

I don't understand (and most likely never will) why people don't say Thank You when they get something.

That is one beautiful card!

That's what we're here for! What a beautiful card! The accents are wonderful!

My mil is the same way, the canvas bag I stamped her for mothers day (at dh's insistance) is still at my house.....while the ones for my grandma, mom, and aunt were really appreciated.

Your card is breathtaking! Sometimes people who don't make cards don't understand what thought and effort (and love) go into making these masterpieces.

It's a very beautiful card. It's a shame that in todays society there is not a lot of good ol' common manners any more.

Iíll never understand people that donít say thank you either. Itís such an easy thing to do. What you made for her is beautiful and sham on her. You can tell that a lot of thought and care when into it.

About a year ago I made a crocheted beautiful baby blanket for a friend of mine. It turned out so good I didnít want to give it away, but I did. Anyway months and months went by and I didnít hear anything from her. She works with my husband and he talks to her quite often either by phone or e-mail Ė and nothing there either. I just donít understand it. Do people think a little elf comes into our house and does all the work for us?

Your card is stunning. The detail is incredible. Maybe something happened to the card you gave to your neice and she hasn't said anything because she doesn't know how to tell you that it was ruined. Maybe?

I just looked at your card and it is absolutely beautiful. I say shame on your neice. I would love to know a little more detail on how you made the flowers, pattern, what they are made of, etc. Gorgeous card!!!!!

Beautiful, beautiful work. Certainly you should have received a thank you by now, but many brides get overwhelmed and it very well could be that she really DOES appreciate what you sent, she just hasn't thanked you yet. I find it VERY hard to believe that ANYONE wouldn't be so impressed with what you did. It is gorgeous.

Your wedding card is gorgeous! Maybe the thank you card from your niece was lost in the mail. I know of two thank you's that were sent to me - one from my hometown, and the other out of town- that I never received.

Cindy,

What an absolutely gorgeous card!

I don't understand either why people find it okay not to say thank you for things. Two simple words...how hard is that? Hopefully it's just an oversite on her part. It must be 'cause this is just too pretty to ignore!

What a shame that people are so thoughtless. I can sympathize. A few months ago I made a really, really nice (and fairly complicated) wedding card for a friend's daughter and it included a $50 gift card. A few weeks ago my sister asked me to make a "special" card for a wedding. I made the same card and mailed it off to my sister in a big envelope with padding to protect it. I was telling a friend that my sister had not bothered even to call or email and tell me she got the card and then I realized I had not gotten a thank you or anything for the original card and gift certificate. I guess everyone thinks those little elves come in the night and do this stuff with their magic and for free.

I suppose we should just be grateful we have the talent and imagination to be creative and have the process be our reward!

I just left a comment on your card, but I need to tell you again that it is just stunning! I absolutely love the flowers made out of vellum, and the whole thing is just gorgeous. I think that people who do not do crafts just don't understand the time it takes to think of the design and then get it just right.

Your card is absolutely stunning. Hallmark couldn't make something this nice. Your niece doesn't deserve something this nice if she doesn't even acknowledge receipt of it.

But, I have the same problem on SCS with people not responding when RAK's or BRAK's are sent. What is the matter with people?

I think your card is absolutely beautiful, and I only wish I had ever made something so gorgeous. I think people made a lot of good points about why sometimes the gifts we give aren't acknowledged or appreciated as quickly or as much as we would like them to be. Anyone who is a mom can testify to that feeling on a daily basis! One thing that has really helped me is to remember why I am giving a gift. You are obviously very talented and love your niece or you wouldn't have created such a beautiful gift for her, but you did make it for her-not to receive accolades for your own talent. You are gifted, as are so many people on the site, and when you choose to share that gift with others you always take the chance that it won't be appreciated for the true gift that it is. Still...it is always better to give your gifts away-because you don't know how much you might touch people's lives by that simple act of beauty. I thank you and all the other people on SCS for sharing their artistic talent with me and I encourage everyone to continue to share their gifts because people do appreciate them and need beauty in their lives.

These beautiful words express the things we should remember when we give..thank you for the reminder of why we give and the potential beauty that is brought through giving. And speaking of beautiful, this card is certainly a card to be treasured....I'm sure many on this will do just that!
