Question Why do my pictures in the gallery show up so small?

It seems like after I scan or take a picture of my cards, I get a nice, big, clear picture and then I use Picture It to reduce the size to 480 x 640, and when it uploads, the picture is smaller and blurrier than other people's pictures. Here is a link to one I uploaded this morning:

I appreciate any help that anyone can give me.

Thanks,
Connie

Hmmm, your pic looks normal to me. Not really all that blurry, either.

The photo is large, but yes, I do see what you mean about slightly blurry.

#1. Check to see that your digi cam is set to "macro", and get as close as you can. If you hafta crop out a lot of background stuff, it reduces the quality of the resulting close up.

#2. In your photo editing software, see if there's an option to "sharpen" the photo.

Then, downsize and see what you get.

I also found that it helps to check the ISO setting. Especially if other people use your camera! If it's set to a higher number, like 400, that's wonderful for action shots, but not good for stills. Set it to 100 or 200 and you'll get less blur.

Question Another question....

Have I got this wrong?
I thought that the 480x640 requirement only applied to attachments in the forums, and not to gallery uploads.

I think you're right on that.

I never attach jpgs to forum posts cuz I never have the sizing right to make it work.

Thanks to everyone for your replies!
When I scan or take the picture, it appears sharp in my editing software, but for some reason when I upload it looks blurry, and it looks smaller than it should. Maybe it is just me? I am at work and don't have time to read through the thread that someone suggested, but I will be sure to read it when I get home.

Thanks again!
(Oh, and thanks to everyone who liked the card too!)

I think that it's not a requirement for gallery uploads, however, the moderators will downsize your picture if you haven't done it first. I remember reading a post about tips to getting your pictures to upload faster and one of the tips was to downsize it yourself because that cuts out one step that the moderators have to do. At least this is what I remember reading. If I find that post, I will post a link to it.
