Default Why do I have all these toilet paper rolls?

I heard of some great crafting idea that used the cardboard center of TP rolls, so I started saving them. Now I have this lovely collection of empty rolls, and have completely forgotten why I was saving them. Does anyone have any ideas for using these things? I feel kinda silly saving them when I have no idea why they are taking up space in my already-junk-filled house. Help?

LOL,,,,,,, I have been saving them for the last couple of months so I can make faux poppers for my grand niece's birthday party next week. I had been saving them a year or so ago and had like two walmart bags full and decided to throw them away. grrrrrrrrrr now I need them. We will fill them with candy and lay them out for table favors.

How silly of me. My first thought when I saw this thread was that you have a family that likes to eat! I like the craft idea better! That looks like a very useful site for anyone who needs craft ideas for children.

Check HGTV and Carol Duvall. Michael Strong was on there making really cool glittered snow flakes using TP rolls. They were really cool! I bought the stuff for them and saved the cores, but never made them LOL Sound familiar to anyone?

I was going to suggest the same thing. Ever since I saw the episode (probably 2 years ago) I was saving the tubes to make those snowflakes. Never did yet tho!

I used toilet paper rolls to make torches for our Survivor pool at work. I spray painted the rolls brown, hot glued natural jute to the bottom, and used crumpled yellow and orange tissue paper for the flame. Everyone LOVED them! I had quite a few people from other departments ask if they could buy them from me for their next pool.

LOL, this is too funny. At one time I was a TP roll saver and my closet was so full of them that I was running out of room for my clothes! (That really says something when you realize I have a rather large walk-in closet!) I finally tossed them all without ever having found a use for any of them.

I do also use them to hold my tongs closed in my utensil drawer and also to hold drop cords rather than using a rubber band....

I donated mine to my son's preschool. The teacher's face lit up like a Christmas tree when I gave them to her.

I can't tell who needs a life more - me for saving them or her for being so excited about getting them! LOL!

EWW, EWW, EWW -- I guess I am in the minority being that I can't imagine putting candy or anything else inside something that was in the bathroom, never mind something near the toilet!

My DH says I belong in that bookstore that marked George's book "has been in the bathroom" so he had to buy it and couldn't return it! Remember that one?

Sorry -- my first thought was RECYCLE or trash! Do people really use these for their kids candy?

I saved some for the kids to make "binoculars" with this summer, so they could "look" for things like birds, planes, and anything else their imagination comes up with. I like the party-popper idea tho too - sounds cute!

My 5 year old DS tapes them together and makes light sabers.

I use tp tubes to hold appliance cords together, esp. blow dryer, curling iron, etc. That way they don't get all tangled in my drawer.

I use TP tubes to keep my wrapping paper from getting destroyed in my wrapping paper box...just make a cut from top to bottom, then put it around your wrapping paper (on a roll), and it keeps it all together without wrinkling it like a rubber band can!

I keep mine for the 4th of July and cover them in Red, White, and Blue Papers. Then I get the straws at Pier 1 for $2.50 a pack that have the strands coming out the top and make firework center pieces for our cookouts. I get extra straws for everyone's drinks. It's too fun!!

I realize this is isn't a crafting option--but I save my TP rolls and donate them to my local animal shelter. They appreciate having them for the rabbits' (and other critters') cages to play with and chew on. I feel better by not throwing them away, and the critters have new "toys!"

Thanks for sharing more ideas and the tube purse is really a cute idea. My faux poppers are coming along fine. I will take pictures soon and post.
