Default Business Thank You's

I'm hoping that the collective creative genius here could help me come up with ideas for some thank you cards that would be appropriate to use in a professional setting. I am the vice-chair for one of the local engineering technical societies (ASM International) and as such am in charge or providing speaker gifts. I've found a great gift in the photographic essay book "Heaven & Earth" and now I would like to make some thank you cards to go with it. The speakers are predominately male and while many do appreciate beautiful flowery cards I would like to find something a little more related to metallurgy/materials engineering so that the card is a better representation of our chapter or at least a bit more manly. Any ideas? Oh the chapter colors are Pantone 287 (ASM Blue) and Pantone 321 (ASM Green).

There are some cardstocks (not SU) available in "metallic" colors, including some blues and greens (and copper, silver, gold, red, purple, etc.). The colors are more what I would call "burnished" rather than looking like chrome.

You could try one of these metallic cardstocks layered with regular cardstock. Take one of the large THANK YOU stamps (maybe the one from Wonderful Words) and emboss it on the front with embossing powder. Sorry--I can see it in my mind, but am not describing it very well.

OR -- use the polished stone technique using some blue and green re-inkers that are close to the chapter colors. Then use gold, silver, or copper embossing powder to emboss the words THANK YOU on a complimentary color cardstock that you cut smaller and layer over the polished stone.

Just some thoughts.

I do Thank Yous for my friend who supplies China dishes for entertaining events but that won't help you. I immediately thought of Lovely as a Tree or the Geometric Background stamp

Thanks for the helpful suggestions! I really like the idea of metallic emboss, I think I can see what you mean. I also like the idea of Lovely as a Tree... off to buy some supplies!

They also have some cool metallic paint chips at Home Depot. Maybe you could use those?

How about just a classy dry emboss sort of thing?

And/or, I would not try so hard that you create alot of work for yourself. Seriously. look at the wedding thank yous at Target. You might be able to save yourself alot of time. They are classy and simple.

Will these men even care about the thank yous? I have an executive husband, and honestly he would not even notice...

Default Office Ephemera

If you should decide to do something with images on it, I am thinking that the "Office Ephemera" set would be very appropriate.

How about using alphabet stamps to represent elements on the periodic table? Nothin' flowery about those!

Periodic table all the way, what a fantastic idea! I never even thought of that (which is silly because I LOVE the periodic table!).

Thanks for the compliment gaylestamps! I like your gallery too, especially your simple wedding card. I finally had a chance to make & upload a thankyou card using your suggestion so here it is :

I still haven't found metallic paper or ordered Lovely as a Tree so those ideas will have to wait until after my next party .

Gee, I never thought that the periodic table could be cute - but there it is! Nice job and what a clever idea. Will have to make some for the engineeers in my life. (I'm surrounded.)
