Question Attention Washington/Baltimore People

Hello everyone,

I am planning a trip to Baltimore in April and was wondering if there are any must see scrapbooking stores or other major craft stores in the area- and of course any other sites that I must try to include in this trip.

Thanks

I think there is a shop called Queen's Ink or something like that near Baltimore. I've never been.

The Queen's Ink in Savage Mill, not far off of I-95 (at Route 32) in Savage. Their phone is 301-497-9449. Their website is www.queensink.com Maybe you will be lucky and be able to catch a class there - they have some very cool ones!

Do you like to cross stitch? There is a great store on the western side of Baltimore just off of 695 called The Stitchin' Post. I haven't explored any of the stamping stores in the Baltimore area (yet). I don't live there but my travels frequently take me through the area. The closest stamp shop I know of to Baltimore is Stamp-ede in York, PA.

The Inner Harbor area of Baltimore is really cool..... great little shops and restaurants. One of my favorite restaruants there is The Cheesecake Factory. Fort McHenry is a great place to visit if you like historical stuff. They also have an imax theater at the Maryland Science Center and of course the National Aquarium is fabulous (allow several hours to fully appreciate it). There are paddle boats (might still be too chilly for that in April) and the USS Constellation is also docked there. They even have a "world trade center" building which has an observation deck on the 27th floor. Its 32 floors make up the world's tallest even-sided, pentagon-shaped building. <end of tourism spiel ;) >

Not sure if you want to travel this far afield, but I live in Northern Virginia near Dulles Airport (about 1 hr 15 min) from Baltimore. There are TWO great stores in the area:

Angela's Happy Stamper
http://www.ahappystamper.com/index.htm
Angela is wonderful and carries a great selection of stamps, paper, copic markers. They do awesome demos on Tuesdays at lunch and a free make-n-take on Thursdays.

Scrapbooks-Plus
www.scrapbooks-plus.com
If you're more into scrapbooking, this place has TONS of paper and embellishments.

Also, I've heard that somewhere up there in Maryland is an Offray ribbon factory outlet. Not sure exactly where and I've never been but I've heard great things.

Check out the websites or just pm me if you want more info. I can also tell you that downtown DC is gorgeous in April. The weather is usually good and sometimes you can catch the cherry blossoms in bloom (see my avatar!).

Have fun planning the trip!

ooh, the Offray ribbon outlet is soo worth the trip. I can't remember where it is, but it is northwest of Baltimore. Bring like 5 bucks and go home with 2 years worth of ribbon!

The Offray outlet is in Hagerstown - not far off the highway. It is however, not open on Sundays, Mondays and Holidays. As Joan said, great bargains are there!!! As a bonus, there is an outlet center with loads of stores nearby with tons of other stuff! Sorry, don't have website or highway numbers this time!

I lived there a few years ago and now we travel up there all the time. Check out Great Scraps in Millersville(Glen Burnie area). It's loaded with the latest and greatest, huge QK stock and cool DC/Baltimore sb papers/embellies to scrap your trip with.

I second The Stitchin Post in Catonsville if you're also into cross-stitch/needlework

The Stitching Post is right off Frederick Rd in Catonsville (close to Baltimore) but I've forgotten the exit number. Hagerstown is close to the intersection of I-70 & I-81. I-70 runs east-west & Hagerstown is appx 1 1/2 hrs west of Baltimore. However, as mentioned above, there is a HUGE outlet center (I think it's Prime Outlets) right off I-70 that's awesome!! I used to live up there (15 yrs ago) & my daughter lives in Carroll county about 20 mins north of I-70. You'll find such great shopping up there!! Have fun & let us know what you come home with
