You know you have a husband who pays attention when....
Yesterday I was stamping when I realized I didn't have my stampin' scrub (I had left it at the sink to dry the night before), my hubby was sitting at the computer next to me, I said "Honey, could you go get my thingy, its at the kitchen sink," he looked at me, noticed I was holding a stamp in my hand and went right into the kitchen and got my stampin' scrub....you should of seen the smile on his face, he was so proud of himself, he knew exactly what I was talking about without even asking "what thingy?"
He's soooo sweet. I know its just a little thing, but I'm ALL ABOUT the little things!!!
Thanks for letting me share!!

Maryanne, that's a lovely story. So glad you also have a husband that understands what *thingie* is. Many times I think I'm not being observed, but then DH reminds me that he has learned a couple of things by observation.
He's a keeper.

Mine would have looked at me like a deer in the headlights and asked where the sink was! LOL He has NO domestic skills, but he tries hard anyway.
I consider them "trained" once they leave the toilet seat down on a regular basis and are careful in other ways. Once I made my sons start cleaning the toilets in the house because they're the ones who make them messy in the first place, you'd be surprised at how conscientious they were in the water closet after that.
My husband probably would have said, "Isn't there something else you should be doing?" Or maybe wondered how he could use said thingie for something else! You are truly lucky!
You're all lucky! My DH probably would have thrown it away since it was sitting there for longer than .5 seconds, and then spent the next 10 minutes denying it!

hehe! Cute story! I was online chatting with a friend last night and helping her pick out some things from the Stampin' Up catalog and he pops his head into the office, sees me with the book out and asks, "What are you ordering?" and not in a bad tone of voice. hehe
That's too funny! My DH pays a fair amount of attention to my stamping hobby...Funny and true story...We were in our pool last summer, hanging out with some friends and family. Some how we started talking about my Cuttlebug. I was trying to describe what embossing meant, and my husband proceeds to compare embossing with the raised areas on our pool floats. I was impressed!
My sweetie not only knows what that "thingy" is, he knows how to use it! He has made cards using my stamps and cs and is very careful to clean the stamps afterward. He even knows which side of the thingy is for wet and which side is for dry. Any wonder I adore him?
My DH bought me a Cuttlebug for my birthday, buys most of the stuff on my SU Christmas wish lists, and patiently looks at all the cards I make and am so excited about.
I love reading this thread! I am one of the lucky ones, too. I made my DH a birthday card and, I swear, he asked me "How come you didn't use the Fastenater?". I am so in love!!!!!!!!

Okay.. here's the thing... we're going to set up a sting for my DH. I'll rent a hall and tell him it's a World War II history symposium, convention and/or trivia contest..... then - all of your wonderful DHs who somehow got the "I understand stamping" gene will be there and indoctrinate him properly. You know, nothing extreme... just your basic brainwashing.
And I bet a bunch of you think I'm really kidding, don't you?!
That's so cute! You lucky gal! My husband usually talked to me in "riddles" like that. "Babe, did you get the thing for the thing tonight? I can't do the thing without it."
I never thought my DH paid any attention to my stamping (I get "that's nice" for every project I show him) until this past Mother's Day, when he actually went to craft stores himself looking for a CropADile that he knew I wanted. He couldn't find it, so he then took me shopping for it, and proceeded to tell ME about the different models and features.
I use to ask my husband if we could go by Hobby Lobby or my favorite stam store - sure! he would say.
He then proceeded to drive "by" it and keep on going - refused to stop cause i just asked to go by it. I now ask if we can go and stop in for me to shop!
I have to - or he won't stop at all!

My husband and I have been married 42 years, and, honey, it's always about the 'little things'. That's what keeps you going when things are tough!
Looks like you have a keeper, too!

He he, my DBF warned me one day that I was going to come home to find that he made the best card in the world...I wonder when that day will be.

My husband came home for lunch and we read this one together -- and both nodded knowingly... Glad to know we are not alone!!
Tooo funny. congrats to him. Mine would say something dirty minded about thingy.......or complain about how much guess-timated money it costed and what a waste. Then he would not know what to look for, has no clue what a "stampin' thinkgy is"
When my DH and I were on vacation, while I was in the shower, he went through the phonebook and looked for a LSS, got the directions and took me there that afternoon. I was impressed. He always says some snide remark in front of his friends....he calls scrapbooking "crap"booking, but yet he is the worst enabler when it comes to buying the "hot" stuff!!
Okay, we were visiting my Dad once and went to get the pizza - which I ordered from a place right near a big stamp/mostly-scrapping store I had never been to. My DH came along... said, yes, of course, let's stop there... I believe he was merely my chaperone. He was surprised (and impressed?) when I didn't buy anything, I think. Yep. His "chaperone" trick worked LOL!!
And he "offered" to drive an extra 45 minutes to go to Gina K's store in Madison, WI, when we were on our way home from MN... but I declined, knowing he really didn't want to. I could only imagine the consequences of that little escapade!
Aren't they so cute when they get proud of themselves?
My hubby, the ever-so-witty one, renames all the colors -- "Only the Lonely Orange, for example."
His other suggestion for SU! is to make a Decor Element for the back of my car that says, "You can Stick It!"
For those of you that don't know, my hubby is known as "The Block Guy" (www.theblockguy.com) and secretly has a slogan, "My dream has come true, women want me for my wood."

Wow, too cool!! I mean, first, his sense of humor ;) . Secondly, that he makes blocks for stamps. Neat. (Of course, I unmounted and have a stack I should sell... guess what -- my DH never likes to see anything thrown away and figures he'll come up with some project to use them for!)
My husband has his own cricut cartidges and asks to borrow my tools (cutting board, cropodile, bind it all okay everything) He has his own business and uses them to make Vinyl letters and such to advertise. When we go shopping he's like Hey I need that! Gotta love them!
He he, my DBF warned me one day that I was going to come home to find that he made the best card in the world...I wonder when that day will be.
be sure and upload the card. We need to see the best card in the world.
My husband now has his own "stash" of stamping things. I think it is funny. But he now understands why I need four shade of brown ink and three different formulas of black!
Last year on vacation, he found a stamp store to take me to and was very patient while I was looking...and looking...and looking! He likes to look at the newest things when we go to HL or Joann's but gets bored after that.
My DH bought me a Cuttlebug for my birthday, buys most of the stuff on my SU Christmas wish lists, and patiently looks at all the cards I make and am so excited about.
oh oh!! mine too he is very supportive and I love that he gets all excited when I make something new. OK, well he's good at pretending to be excited!!
the best was when I found a brown box on the front porch a few weeks ago when I was home sick from work...I looked at the box and it said "Provocraft Cricut Expression"!!! I was like WOAHHH my birthday isn't until August! He was trying to get a jump start on my gift and it figures it was delivered on the ONE day I was home sick! I felt bad. But he let me open it. Now I have a Cricut. I'm a happy camper!!!
My hubby, the ever-so-witty one, renames all the colors -- "Only the Lonely Orange, for example."
HAHA. omg this made me chuckle. mine likes to laugh at the colors too. I will be like "it's Old Olive and Barely Banana!" and he is like "it's Banana-rama" or something like that.
he also now refers to my cricut as the "cry-cut". he just has to have his own names I guess!!
My husband would know something like that but one time he did look at me like I was somewhat crazy. He asked what I wanted for my birthday and I told him, " I want the Sizzix Sizzlet Rat-A-Tat-Tat." He politely informed that I wasn't speaking English.
What a fun thread. My husband is a home brewer and stamps the lids of his bottles with small stamps and staz-on to identify the kind of beer in them. So he's allll about staz-on, and since he got in trouble for not cleaning the first stamp he used, he's allllll about cleaning them up now too!

Ha ha, mine would say "so...it's green and yellow?"

I used to take up a new handcrafting hobby every winter. My Son knew by the spring it was a gonner. Then in 97, I took up stamping...have a basement full of 'winters'.
The only he knows about stampin is Kristina Werner...he has a huge crush on her...they're same age....lol She could recite number facts from 0 to 100 and he'd still watch her.
Maybe I'll get him to make one of her cards the next time he's here.

For each occassions, My DH makes me a card using my stamping supplies. He once told me my scrubber was dirty and asked how he could clean it for me... so sweet. He has yet to buy me anything stamping supplies, but that's okay...I do enough of that on my own :p
Aww that is sweet! My hubby is glad I have a hobby, but I am not sure how much he actually pays attention when I am stamping. Of course, I always have to show him what I made after I am done....:-)
