OK - I know it's not supposed to be safe to breathe. But, I think I'm addicted. I feel bad for my aquapen, wcw crayons, watercolor pencils and blender pens because they've been so sorely neglected since I started using my prismacolors and gamsol. Not only that, but I bought the box of 72 because I knew I'd regret it if I got a smaller box and now I'm wishing that I'd gotten the biggest one!
Me too! I am DYING for the big set of Prismacolors....I want them so badly I can't stand it. Must pay off bills first! Must!
I just want to take a moment and thank PRINCESSINK because she is the one who started this craze! I saw a post several months back titled "coloring lessons from PrincessInk" and was hooked from there. So...THANK YOU!!!! THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU! Hehe. ;)
Which one of you want to sell your old set to help purchase a bigger set? I want to give it a try and hate to by the big set first in case it's not for me. So if one of you want to sell yours let me know.
I love it too! I bought my prismacolor pencils for half price and a $15 refund after Christmas, and I haven't regretted it for a SECOND! I find the pencils and gamsol SO much easier to use than any other method. I color in my scrap room, then move to the KITCHEN to gamsol! I turn on the fan in the kitchen that sucks up the vapors and send them outside, and so far no more headaches doing it this way.
I am, however, going to have to replace a couple of pencils individually because they will look like nubs soon!
I have done nothing but prismacolors and Gamsol since you all got me addicted!
Yes, PC Anonymous, is there such a place for junkie pencil freaks? Gamsol, well, can't smell it so I can't say I'm addicted, but my mood sure has been better! LOL
Helps with the PMS if you know what I mean?

I'm just learning, but I love them already....My only problem is that it seems like I have to color almost the entire image to have enough color to spread around, know what I mean? Am I doing it wrong? Do I HAVE to have the stumps made in Taiwan? Help me, all you talented ladies!!!

Whew...I sooo thought you were drinking it. LOL. I was going to ask straight up or on the rocks....with an olive or a twist. I love the gamsol/prisma technique too.

HI All,
Here is a step by step pictorial- This will really help. Remember, after you've wet your blending stump- rub the color in a circular motion toward the center of the picture. http://www.ashadeofblue.net/Boards/portal.php?page=2
Hope this helps,
Gina

The stumps made in Taiwan DO spread the color better - I've used both the stumps from China and Taiwan, and the ones from Taiwan are definitely superior!
Ok, dumb question ladies. When you do this technique what type of ink do you stamp the image in? Regular SU black or basic brown that are watercolor safe or Stazon?

I got the 120 box of prismas. I hear they are cheaper on ebay, but I got mine from DickBlick.com and if you sign up on ebates.com (another tip I got here) and shop through the rebate site, you'll get another 6% off that comes back to you in a check when you accumulate over $5 in rebates.
ANYWAY- I paid about $106 total with tax and shipping for 120 prismas, Gamsol 16oz and some stumps. Granted, my stumps are from China, b/c I didn't see the others on the site. Will get the other ones if I see them.
I stamp with Stazon ink on whatever paper I'm going to use. I haven't had a problem yet with the outline running into the image as I color or any of that. HIH
I use Basic Brown and Basic Black when I use this technique. I only use Stazon on acetate, because I always have such a hard time cleaning my stamps after using it.

I have all of the supplies for the gamsol technique but haven't had a chance to play yet...I have several big projects in the works that need to be finished before I can start something else and I have a feeling that once I start this awesome technique I'm not going to want to do anything else...LOL I am starting with the set of 72 pencils...used 40% coupon at Hobby Lobby.
I love doing the penciling. But, I have to be relaxed. With summer, kids, etc....there is so little of that time. I hope in FAll to work on it more, and develop the ability to shade and use a variety of colors together and make them work. So far, I have only had a chance to do very basic coloring. But, I love the technique and love the gamasol..... Wish I had the big box!!
I jumped in with both feet -- got the 120 colors to start with, and so happy I did. I am so loving this. I don't think I've used my pastels once since I started doing this technique. I'm giving my set of SU WC pencils to my sister. I haven't picked them up once since I got the Prismacolor pencils! Had a little trouble finding Gamsol but did eventually locate it at an art supply store.
