Bump to the top since I'm wondering the same thing. Other than price and shape, what is the difference between the horizontal slot and the rectangle hand held punch?
You could always use them to add a decorative element to a border...such as using the Scalloped scissors and then punching the double slot above each of the half circles?
I've used it in one of our classes(no i am not the demonstrator), as a student, in a card that one piece of cardstock sticks out more than your "base" cardstock, and overlaps the the other. So you have to have both sides open on the front of your card. Anyways, we pulled that "extra flap" over and tucked it into the punched hole. Careful now...measure twice, do once!!!
The Word Window Punch pieces (those that get punched out) slide in there.
One of my talented downline (stampingjosie) showed us this at a meeting and MADE me buy one!

it is hard to see because of the bright colors-but the top and bottom orange strips were woven through

I know it's been a long time since you asked, but no one ever answered, so I will! The rectangle hand held is a perfect, sharp rectangle... the horizontal slot is a rounded end rectangle (think a small word window punch). HTH

You can make your own ribbon slides with this punch. Punch a slot on each end of a snall rectangle or oval, stamp on the paper slide and then slide it over ribbon (or just use a thin strip of paper to make a faux ribbon).
