Question What is your favorite bird stamp set?

Hi,

I am an avid bird lover and this is our first year putting up bluebird houses...we have one couple building a nest in one of the houses. Yahoo!

Anyway, I have realized that I don't own a "bird-themed" rubber stamp set. What a crime!!

What is your favorite bird set??

P.S. If anyone has any bluebird suggestions, feel free to advise me!

Congratulations on the nesting! We had our bluebird box up for 10 years before we got our first pair. We have a couple back again this year and five eggs (I have pics on my blog).

I have a couple of small stamps with generic birds on them that I've colored as blues, but the one that I found that I like the most was SU's Avian Toile. Unfortunately it's retired. I was lucky to find someone selling it on Craig's List. Here is a card that I did with it.

I'll be following this thread for any other ideas that pop up.

Good luck with your Blues.

pidgesmom...I just looked at your pics on your blog. They are so great! My box opens in the front, so I can't even tell if there are eggs in it yet. The couple is hanging around alot today, more than usual.

Hi!

I'm only just realising how fab bird-themed stamps are to work with! I have two sets that I love working with:

The first one is from The Stamp Barn - check out a card I made using it here

The second is from Inkadinkado - its a set called delicate branches. I love working with silhouette stamps, you can create some fab scenes. Here's a card I made using this set here

I guess it's all down to personal preference at the end of the day but I love pretty much all birdie stamps ;) LOL!

I have a set that I love and have used it many, many times. Its made by Cavallini Papers & Co. INC. They are a San Francisco company and make the most wonderful stamp sets.
The one I have is called "Birds & Nests." I think that they can be found on ebay or Paperstudio.com.

The Saltbox Studio has three bird-themed sets...they're called Tweet, Tweet Houses, and Tweet Companion. You can check them out at:
www.amuseartstamps.com

The Cavallini set is lovely. Crafty Secrets also has some adorable bird stamps. I own tons of SU bird-related sets...Feathered Hope, Friends 24-7, Seasonal Birds, Avian Toile, A Little Birdie Told Me, Nellie the Nest Lady, and so many more!

Default 1 egg

Wow!! These are all great birdie images/sets. Thank you so much, it will be tough to decide.

BTW, I checked the bluebird nest today ( I had to use a little mirror to get a view into the nest)...1 little blue egg so far. I hope all the little meanie birds/animals stay away...keeping my fingers crossed.

I have a few that are actually a certain breed. But, most of my bird stamps are kind of generic and are always made into bluebirds.

Grey Wolf Graphics has some gorgeous birds. Very realistic. His stamps are an artwork unto themselves. I usually prefer unmounted stamps, but his are so beautiful and the wood is polished and so smooth. He doesn't have a website (darn), but he does have a small catalog. Someone gave his address awhile back though I don't remember which thread. Maybe someone will chime in.

I'm so excited to see this question!! I have a bluebird stamp for you ;)!! Cornish Heritage Farms has a new release from my stamp line, Shady Tree Studio, on Tuesday and there's a lovely little bluebird. I'll upload a sample in a bit and give you a link.

Two other bird-related stamps will be released Tuesday also and hopefully there will be more in the future. I'd love a set, too. I just love birds and bird stamps ~ glad to see I'm not alone and some great ones mentioned above!

I love coloring birds! My favorite set is from The Angel Company. The birds are very realistic. Here's just one of the birds in the set:

Here's my favorite little bluebird ;). Hope you like it ~ please check out the other releases on Tuesday! You can never have to many birds.

(After seeing some of these suggestions, I'm thinking I should have a separate special place just 'for the birds!' So many wonderful images!!)

The love of birds, birding, and backyard feeding are a family business with us. I have several bird cards in my gallery, and am always looking at bird sets. One line I found w/ very realistic stamps are by Gray Wolf Graphics at a website called krittersinthemailbox.com.

As a new bluebird mommy you should know that bluebirds love, love, love mealworms. Once you get past the creepy, crawliness of them it's not so bad, and it is truly exciting to watch mama bird feed her fledging babies. Many people put out the worms at the same time everyday, and it doesn't take long before the birds will start to let them know if they're late. We have many bluebird customers that buy their worms in lots of 5,000 (that's a LOT of worms). (I've also seen cardinals court their ladies by bringing them mealworms...very sweet). Another interesting bluebird fact is that they can have up to 3 nestings per season, and the previous brood(s) will help raise the newest brood. Finally, keep a close eye on the house sparrows and any other predators that may be around (racoons, ants, snakes). Have fun and take pictures!

Oh yeah, one more thing...bluebirds and robins are closely related. If you can't find a specifically named bluebird stamp, you could very easily use a robin and color it as a bluebird.

I love all bird stamps and I have about 40 of them! The one bird I would love to find a stamp for is my dear little Killdeer...They nest out in my rocks, yes, they nest on the ground in the gravel of my yard, they lay an egg every other day until they have 4, then they sit on them for 24 to 26 days...the little babies are born fully feathered and can run about 90 miles an hour with just hours of their birth...

Oh my, this is so exciting for me. I think I will end up starting out with about 10 of these bird stamps, they are all so great. I"ll have to start a list for Mother's Day!!

Birdbrain: Thanks for the tips, we did put out mealworms, but they (and other birds I imagine) ate them all. I will try putting out a little each day this time. Re Predators: we did see a few sparrows, so we put up a "sparrow spooker" as soon as the first egg was laid. My kids loved it (hanger and a cut up mylar gift bag). My husband is working on making a more permanent "spooker". Hoping this works out for our first time bluebirding!!
