What is your Biggest Pet Peeve?
What in the crafting/stamping world drives you crazy? What do you find really annoying?
Mine is when somebody makes something that looks like it took a lot of work and then says it's a simple card. That the card "was so easy" to make. It makes feel really stupid because I know it would take me hours to do a card like that. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Am I the only one who feels this way?

I think it's all relative. I'm a fast colorer but it takes me forever to put together something with a bunch of folds.
Never feel stupid!

You know I am one of those who always says the card was easy. But what I neglect to say is it took me about 2 hours to do because most of the time I make up my own designs. So my bad!

My pet peeve is people post pictures in the gallery and then don't mention the supplies they used. It says see my blog .
Or they list the supplies in the gallery and then say see my blog for more information on this project . I go there expecting some information on the techniques they used and when I get there there is nothing but the list of supplies that was in the gallery. LOL
If they used a stamp, punch, embossing folder or die I have never seen I would like to know the name of it.
Tutorials if they have them of course belong on their blogs.

I hate it when they say check my blog and then they don't have much more information on the blog than what was originally posted.

I don't like when I'm looking at a card and then there is a link to their blog for more information and the I click on that link and I can't find the card. In other words, I wish more people would post the actual link with the card info and not just their blog address.
I can't tell you how many times Ive tried to find the blog post with the card I was looking for and after awhile of looking I just give up. (Hope I explained that okay).

Metalcharm, you and I both agree on this. I actually made this comment on another post. My thing is I have the freedom to pick and choose who I blog or who I buy from. I don't mind clicking on "see my blog" because I am always looking for new places for inspiration. I always need help with making my cards for any source.

Well as far as the uploading - I love that people still upload here in the galleries, and if I love the card I don't mind checking out the blog post, but like Patty said, link to the stinking card please!!! I also don't check out the blog if the card is just ok, only great ones.
I would like the name of the stamp/company and the colors here though.
My biggest pet peeve is calling scrapping - scraping. It just rubs me wrong. I know sometimes it is just fast typing but there are times you can tell it is an all the time thing.

What is starting to bug me.....the word "deets" for details, "embellies" for embellishments. Those are the only two I can think of right off the top of my head. I know, it's probably a time saving thing but I find it annoying.

For me, it's exclamation points!!! Have you noticed them lately?!!!! I read a blog a while ago that didn't use a single period in an entire post!! Every sentence ended with at least one exclamation point, usually more!!!!!!!!!!

There's a well known Blogger, can't mention her name, but everything she writes and says in her videos. is way too cutsy for me. One more "tee hee" out of her and I'm going to scream. I actually unsubscribed because I just couldn't stand it.

I agree with everyone who said that at least basic information on materials, tools, etc., should be listed in the gallery, the "see my blog for more" should link directly to the post for that card and, when you do see their blog, there actually is more!
One more thing: this isn't really a pet peeve, more of a wishful thinking, but I think it would be nice if the people who "favorite" a card you uploaded would leave a comment to tell you why...

My biggest pet peeve is the person that cannot turn off the stupid cell phone during a class, or workshop or stamping event. AND if it rings, (or even vibrates) they feel they must answer it right in the middle of a demo, or a discussion....OR doing a demo and seeing someone sitting there checking out their cell phone every couple of minutes.
If there is a life threatening emergency going on in their life, then they shouldn't even be at the event.

I'm cranky on a daily basis and don't have any excuse. I just am. There. I said it.
And yes, all the !!!!! drive me nuts. And the use of the word "sistah" will drive me up a wall. Sorry, but I unsubscribed to several blogs because I just couldn't take it anymore.
I would also like more details about products used when going through the gallery here. I thought I was all alone. I guess I'm not.

This is a quote from another thread it is a good example of one of the things that drive me nuts. Quote: I just received a video tutorial showing how simple it is to tie a bow. The simple tutortial took almost 10 minutes. That should tell ya how simple it is. |
I agree with sexymummie2005 too Quote: hate when i try a new techinque that i've seen on you tube & my various attempts looks crap : |

I hate it when demonstrators act like their business is such a hassle. There's one blog I read and the demo complains about how much work she has to do, how many e-mails she has to read, etc. and just doesn't sound excited about stamping anymore!
I used to read her blog every day but now it's not so fun anymore!

My only pet peeve is when I go to blogs and the music blaring. Music is a personal choice and not every one wants to hear it. And I do not want to hear "turn down your sound", why should I? This is a big turn off for me as I blog when I get home at 1 am. Needless to say I will not stay but click off.

Much of what was already written are my biggest pet peeves.. no supplies used when uploaded to the gallery here, a link to a blog and either no details there either, or I can't find the darn card on the blog without serious investigating. It irks me when demos always complain about how much money they spend, and how little they get in return in one breath, but then say they're not in it for the money, just the friendships in the next breath. And one more to add, when people over use "Just sayin." Once in awhile it's fine, but not after every other sentence! Just sayin. ;)

Me too! I hate blog music. I have to put my computer on mute when I'm visiting blogs and when I forget it blasts real loud and I'm usually on my computer when the kids are sleeping.

My biggest pet peeve
is when someone showcases a card or other project and directs you to their blog for directions on how to make it and there aren't any.

I was waiting for someone to list music. I always seem to come across those blogs late at night when the kids are asleep and my speakers are on max. I'm not usually a violent person but when I come across a music playing blog I truely want to punch someone.

I have 2--
using the word stationary when the person/companies mean stationery
companies that sell products with "issues" and don't come clean until customers have to point it out.
on the other hand, most companies are terrific and I misuse words too. I definitely overdo exclamation points. sorry!!!!

Mine is bloggers who go on and on and on about whatever it is that they're talking about at the moment. Ultra wordy. Drives me insane. I actually also unsubscribed to a well known blogger because of this. I couldn't handle her constant jibber jabber! And every other word is BOLD because it's SOO IMPORTANT, ya know!!!!
And when people post photos on their blogs of projects from every angle imaginable. Just one or two would probably get the idea across. Maybe more for a really intricate project with lots of detail. But really i don't need to see it from the right and the left and the top and the back and straight on and underneath to get the gist of the project.

LOL I had a teacher who told us that when you can't remember which to use Stationary or Stationery just remember paper stationery ( E) needs and Envelope (starts with E)

I find some of these annoying as well, but I must admit I'm guilty of using "embellies" when I'm too lazy to type out the whole word. I'm also guilty of not listing supplies on cards I've uploaded to the gallery simply because I use the bulk upload feature and - again - I've been too lazy to type all that stuff out.
The one thing that really annoys me, and this is in general, when I hear people mispronounce words. What is that most people are mispronouncing the word "often" these days. Come on people, it has a silent "t". It irritates me so much that I won't watch news shows where the news anchors mispronounce this word. They're suppose to be educated people. How can you mispronounce a simple word like "often". So this follows that if I'm watching someone's You Tube tutorial, I immediately click it off if they mispronouce words - especially this one.
Ok that's my rant/pet peeve...

I am sure there are people who mispronounce words, however, some may also be due to regional accents. I believe most people in Wisconsin pronounce the "t" in often. Just as people in southern states say "Yall" for you all. Some regional accents are so acute people from other regions here have a problem understanding them LOL
People in Wisconsin say " worsh" for wash LOL
I live in Ohio for 4 years in a community about an hour from the Kentucky border. There were times I only understood every 4th word some one was saying to me LOL They didn't understand me either so we were even. LOL

I saw on another popular card forum that you are not allowed to attach a link to your blog on the post/picture UNLESS you have all the details of your card explained on the forum as well. Perhaps SCS should have the same rule.

Wow. I learned something new today. I am an educated person and I pronounce often with a t. Since I've never heard it without a t sound (like someone stated above-it's a regional thing) I looked it up and here is what the dictionary states:
USAGE When pronouncing often, some speakers sound the : t, saying 'off-ten'; for others, it is silent, as in : soften,: fasten,: listen. Either pronunciation is acceptable, although 'off-en' is more common.
