For my kids' teachers and therapists (about 13 in all), I'm making wrapped nuggets, bag toppers, and coordinating cards with PTI's Holiday Treats set.
My big family/friends project is a book of funny quotations, jokes, etc. that people have submitted to me...a collaborative miscellany. (Last year's theme was inspirational.) I'll end up making about 45 of them with my BIA. My mom does a painting for the cover, which I scan and print off on specialty cs so it looks like a watercolor painting. Very cool, and everyone loves reading the nice things I write about them in the About the Contributors section. It's a lot of work but well worth it!
Wow - that's a great idea. I have wanted to do a compilation of family recipes but the inspirational and funny are great themes, too. I wonder if I could ever get organized enough to do something like that. Yay, you!! I'll file this idea away

Thanks! If you decide to do it, I'll be happy to share my "lessons learned" with you. There are ways to make it much easier. But it's sooooo worth the effort.
Everybody's getting a Christmas ornie this year. I've got some ornament toppers stamps from Outlines that I'm going to make to match some glass balls I bought last year after Christmas. At least that's the plan at this point. It takes dangles (which are HARD to find in this age of real crystals and stones; I need cheap plastic because of the weight), rhinestones, lots of rhinestones, Stickles or AIG, specialty papers, etc. I've done exactly one and it was gorgeous but I know I can do better.
I have already made a number of these coaster sets for small Christmas presents. I started early I can not stand the panic at the end of the year.
Now I can have more time for the baked presents at Christmas.Attachment 106187
Thanks for all of the ideas...I'd love to do something unique this year! I know for one gift exchange I'm giving an A-Z cookie swap I'm signed up for along with some cookie-making supplies. Other than that, no clue........
What is an A-Z cookie swap? Sounds interesting!!!

Its full, but if you check out the other ones listed in the recipes section, I know there are several others open. Warning---once you start signing up, you can't stop!!!!
I have not started yet either. Last year I made ornaments and everyone loved them. But, I love these ideas and I needed some! I have thought about the recipe books. My mom and my DH's mom have both passed away. They both were very good cooks and their recipes were divided up between the kids. So, I thought about doing the books with the recipes we have that no one else has. My brother is always calling and asking for certain recipes that my mom had so this may be a good gift for him.

The quote book sounds like such a cool idea. It sounds like you put a lot of work into it, but is well worth it. You get a personalized gift that everyone can enjoy. And I bet it opens up great conversations.
Thanks for the great ideas. I am hoping to at least make cards this year. I haven't had a chance to send cards out for several years. I want to do a digital scrapbook for my sister, but need to find the time to sit down and work on that. Other than that, I'm not sure what to make. I did the nugget boxes last year for my family and boyfriend. They loved them.

I'd love to see a photo if this if you have one..... Sounds very interesting!
Love this idea and the idea of using them as a gift tag. I make a snack mix every year and am always trying to find a clever way to tag the bags. This will work great! I saw a bunch of games at the thrift store last weekend so maybe I can find a checker game.
So far, I've planned to make a matching game that will hopefully go in an Altoids tin for some of the under 4 year old gifts I need. I figure their moms can pop them in their bags and have something to play with in a restaurant or whatever. I also found a cute notecard idea that will be good for my two 13-14yo gift recipients so I think I'll be making a set of 6 cards for each of them. I have some odd colored DCWV precut cards that I am hoping I can coordinate up with some patterned paper scraps. Would be good to work my way through the motherlode of scraps that live at my house.
I like the idea of making tags from Christmas Cards. Any other ideas using old Christmas Cards? I have a TON.

Last year I saw a small basket made out of old Christmas cards in a collectibles magazine and scoured the internet until I found the instructions on this website.
According to one of my mom's friends, this was a popular craft during the fifties? I made one using vintage-look cards. It was fairly simply to make and cute sitting on my end table. (Would post a picture, but it is currently buried in the Christmas decorations!)

OMH! I know what I'm going to do with all those old Christmas cards I saved.
Teri - I don't take photos anymore (camera broke in Alaska last year), but if you go to Outlines Rubber Stamps' site, they have instructions for their toppers -- and lots of gloriously beautiful stamps.
Its too much to post so I linked to the thread I started. I am so in love with this. I am off in a bit to find some great Amy Butler fabrics to done with some butterlfies and flowers. I have several little girls to give too so I'm gonna do everything from onesies to little t-shirts. I did this one in about two hours this afternoon, but I also opted for handsewing the edge as opposed to using the zig zag on the machine. I just like the edge it gives better It could easily done assembly line style and knock out several in an afternoon.

I can't remember who to give credit to, but I saw these candles with bellas on them, and so I was thinking of making candles that were universal with the bellas on them. Ultimately I will make baskets for all of the couples in the family, so I am still trying to figure out what to add to them.
Funny to read this. I haven't been thinking that far ahead about gifts for the seasons. It would be nice to be on it this year with my crafty gifts. Subscribing to this too.
I love the Sock Monkey Stamp Set so everyone is getting a sock monkey and a set of sock monkey cards. Doesn't everyone need their very own sock monkey? -- I hope so!
