Default Page Protectors Purse

Hello Everyone,

I just got back from convention, and it was just awesome. What a great form of encouragement, but i was wondering to anyone who went, does anyone have directions on how to make those purses out of Page Protectors? I fell in love with them but no one i talked to had directions on how to make them. Can someone help me out with that?

Thank you so much.

Norma

I saw one and have a picture somewhere, I will have to look for it. When I asked how she made it, she said that she made the 2 sides 8x8 and the other 3 sides 8x3. She then took it to staples and had it laminated all in one sheet and cut it out. She then laced it with vinyl lacing and added the handle. Very Cute! I don't know if this is the same or not but it might help.

Default have you ever made a koolaid bag purse?

most times it is like that. I saw one a few months ago in a paper magazine done with ziploc bags and thought you could do that with page protectors.

Basically I would cut off the ring part of all of them. When I say attach either use clear duct tape or your sewing machine . I think that lacing up may be purely decorative.

The bottom is two protectors end to end with the pages permanently inside. I would make the open part go to the middle.

The sides could be 1-2 tall depending on size of protector. I would make them open at the top so I could change the insert (unless of course you could figure out how to make it open at the bottom inside the bag)

The fronts are the same as the sides. The get sewn to the sides flat (like juice bag purse)

Before you attach it to the bottom I would consider the handle. For stability it needs to wrap around the bottom and up the sides of the bag so attach it to the bottom, sew the bottom to the sides, then attach it to the sides. I usually make them one long circle so the handles are at the top.

Is that any clearer?

The purse you showed in the link is actually made by making scrapbook layouts, laminating and punching them then lacing together. Here is one in the gallery with the link to the paper magazine's directions: Gallery at Splitcoaststampers

Here is the direct link to the magazine: http://www.simplescrapbooksmag.com/m...7&issue_idx=27

There was another thread on here somewhere a while back with directions for page protector bags but they are much bigger when finished. I have to go to work now but I will see if I can find that thread tonight.

Norma,

Here is a link for a tote type of bag made from page protectors. It looks larger than the one you posted, but maybe you could use 6 x 6 and just use the basic directions. You would have to add the lacing and grommets too, as this style doesn't have that.

I saw these made with what looked to be spiral binding (like we do for our catalogs). It looked like each side was laminated and then punched for spiral binding and then the spirals were put through -- one long spiral down the side, across the bottom and up the other side. I've never seen spirals that long, so maybe it was more than one spiral, but I really couldn't tell by looking at them.

Very cool...I will have to try it.

Thank you so much to everyone who posted, i just spooke with one of the ladies i went to convention with and we remember the gal who made the bag say she used 2 8 1/2 x 11 page protectors and 1 12x12 (for the sides and bottom, she used the hole punch and ribbon to hold the tote together and then for the handle gromets and tubbing from the hardware store. I am now going to have to try it.. hope this helps everyone.

It's 3 8 1/2 pages (1 cut in half for the sides) and 1 12x12 cut in half (you will only need 1 side).

I just got my page protectors today, so will be trying this real soon. Anybody have any thoughts on putting the ribbon on for the binding? I'm presuming just thread it in and out through the punched holes? A little dense here without step by step visuals...lol

If anybody has more pics of their projects, feel free to email them to [email protected] I'd love to see them!

Cheers

These purses sound interesting, haha! The only one I've seen like this is one made from Capri Sun bags
