Default What would you do if you could only stamp 10 minutes at a time?

I would be so bummed! A fellow SCSer Jacke......(hpyscrpr2) was most recently was in a car accident and through no fault of her own, finds herself in a situation where she cannot stamp....She was rear-ended by a big jerk going 60 miles an hour as she was stopped in traffic! Her neck and muscle injuries have effected her hands...She can only stamp for 10 minutes...

Holy cow....what can you do in 10 minutes? Pretty much nothing!

If you would like to send her a card...pm me for her address. So sorry that happened Jackie!

That sucks! I guess I would buy me a Stampers Sampler Take Ten issue and case me some 10 minute cards....or figure out some on my own and do a whole lotta submissions to Stampers Sampler.

Oh, Jackie, I'm so sorry. That is just awful. I think I would build up stashes in the 10 minutes. So spend some time doing the main images, then stamp some backgrounds, then watercolor. I would build up a large pile of things, then I would be able to build a card in 10 minutes, but I can't even make a decision in 10 minutes, let alone stamp, I really feel for you!

She's really struggling right now. The physical symptoms seem to change every week and get worse. A card would be a great thing for anyone who can send one.

How terribly for hpyscrpr!. With a collision at that speed, I can't imagine the pain she must be going through.
There are many times that I will come home from lunch and do some 10 minute stamping. Granted I sure don't get an entire card done in 10 minutes, but I often stamp in short intervals. Maybe cut card stock, then my next time I'll stamp the focal image. Although it isn't an ideal way of stamping, but it can be done. And if hpyscrpr2 is anything like me, there isn't much that keeps me from stamping, even if it is in tiny time frames.
Best wishes to hpyscrpr2 to a speedy and complete recovery!

Sorry to hear about her horrible accident. I feel the same way with a newborn in the house. It is very difficult to get an idea together. It usually takes me about 45 minutes to get the basic design together in addition to actually creating and finishing the card. Maybe she could do one element at a time. Stamp a background, cut the paper, color an image, etc. I hope that she starts feeling better soon.

First, I'm sending healing thoughts to Jackie, how absolutely awful!

I've started doing morning warm up cards for those times when life gets so busy stamping takes a back seat. Anyway, more info is found on my blog if you are interested, and this is no way intended to send you there, as I am posting some of the cards here. But 3 x 3 cards are perfect for the 10 minute and under projects. Keep them simple, and clean, but make them junior versions of bigger cards.

I can usually only stamp 10-15 minutes at a time, not because I have health issues, but because I have a big family! Someone told me long ago: "If you only have ten minutes, then do a ten minute job."
That has become the story of my life, and it really can work.

I take 10 minutes or so, cut out my papers and place in a box (with a cover, so no little hands dig into it.

Then, the next time I have a chance, I might assemble all the extras (embellishments, etc.)

Then, I stamp my images...

The next installment might find me coloring in, adhering things, etc.

Jackie, I hope you recover quickly and find grace to adjust while you are on the road to wellness. Blessings to you.

I'm so sorry. I know how she feels as the same thing happened to me 6 years ago. Stopped in traffic on the freeway and the moron behind admitted he wasn't paying attention at 55 mph. It took some time and I still have residual pain but I did not stamp for months as I couldn't lean over and look down for any period of time. I did stamp a few images and then color them when I felt better. I hope she has a speedy recovery.

For me if that's all I had. I would set it up so I cut and do some prep work 1 day. The next day stamp the images. 3rd day adhere them all together. 4th day add embellishments and such items. 4th day finish the cards. stamp sayings on the inside etc.

How Terrible...so sorry Jacke..how you are feeling better real soon.

In the meantime...only 10 minutes of stamping at a time. Often I only have a few minutes here and there...I just take the times I get to do a card.
Often, I think of ideas or my layout when I am taking my kids for a run in the jogging stroller. When I get back...I figure out what colors will work with what I want to do. I use the layout I already thought of and get to work. Often I will work on different sections at a time and put it down for awhile in between.
Takes longer..but it works. Sometimes being limited to short intervals helps you make a better card because as you go you can change anything that isnt working--make it better.

I hope you are able to get up and around soon...sending lots of prayers.

Valerie---awesome idea with the mini cards...they are adorable!

Smile You're AWESOME Cindy

Wow, these are great suggestions and I have been doing one of them. One day cut the cs, next stamp out images 10 minutes at a time--resting for an hour and continuing until I'm done. That's how I've been able to keep up with my swaps and I've been getting them done super early too. Just takes me FOREVER to get them done but I'm not giving up.

I love Valerie's little cards, so cute and never thought about that. Will have to give it a try.

Gotta go to my specialist appt. now. I'm really scared so positive thoughts and prayers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again Cindy. LOVE YOU MUCH!!!

Jackie
Have you considered going to a chiropractor? I know that some people think negatively toward chiropractic, but it is genuinely helpful. I have been rear-ended twice, have been thrown from a horse once, and had my back slammed against a wood rail fence (left me passed out from pain every time I moved-literally- for several days). 4 years after the fence incident (continuous pain for that long) I was convinced to go to a chiropractor...I could not believe the relief! Without it over the years, I would be a cripple. I really advise you to go...if you need a referral, I will ask for one in your area.

My physical therapist & the neurologist I just saw today are against that idea. PT goes well, it's just when I overdo it---yes, I admit it---I pay for it big time. I also have to be on time with my meds or I really feel my aches too. As much as I don't like being doped up, it feels better than the pain in my neck and right arm/hand. Thanks for the suggestion and I'll bring it up again later

Yes, the regular medical profession is almost always against chiropractic...usually all the time. Some NEVER accept it as "legitimate" medical procedure. It's sad, because chiropractors have MORE training in physiology and kinesiology and anatomy than MDs and frequently are MORE able to help than an MD. Another possibility you may try is to see a DO (doctor of Osteopathy) They are at least more "accepted" by regular medical practitioners but often do the same thing as chiropractors (as far as I understand it, for what it is worth.)

I wish that MD/PT types would not be so stubborn in their beliefs!

The main thing they have against the chiropractor is the swiftness in which he'll turn my head or snap my back. That's the only problem they have with the idea. I was told that when I'm more healed, they'll be open to it but right now; they want slow movement as to not further agitate my injuries. I myself moved a little too quickly during an exercise and paid for it dearly so I'm willing to wait a bit before seeing the chiro. I'm thinking it'll feel really good especially to my neck but I'm a scaredy cat and can't really handle pain. I do appreciate your advice and we will be discussing this a little further down the line

I generally agree with this statement. I do have an MD who does believe in many aspects of non-traditional methods and I am grateful for that. I found an immense amount of relief from chiropractic and have continued on a wellness plan for the past 4 years.

That said, Jackie, you know your body, and what you feel comfortable doing or not doing. I wish you a speedy and full recovery.

Maybe massage therapy would help. No sudden movement but a lot of muscle relief. I get migraines and I have a massage about once a month and it is the best thing. Loosens all the muscles up and what a great feeling.

I agree. I get a deep massage especially in the neck area every time I go to pt and it feels great....I think it's for 20 minutes. Then they put heat on my neck and back for another 20 and I'm in complete heaven. I've now switched it around so I can have my massage & heat @ the end of all my exercises. Feels better that way to me

I've posted thanks in the RAK thread as well. I don't want anyone to think that I've overlooked their generosity. I will post pics of all the beautiful RAKs I've received when I can. Thank you all sooooo very much

Yes! This is exactly how I stamped for nearly 3 years while my children were very young. Each 10/15 minute increment was like a mini vacation from laundry, spit-up, gooey fingers etc. It did seem like it took forever to finish cards and gifts, but they always came together nicely.

Jacke--hope the healing moves quickly.

I'm following Dr's orders to a T. I've been resting a whole lot more and not stampin at all. I'm not gonna lie and say that I'm not hurtin cause I'm really sore even though I've not been *using* my arm. I pop on here every hour or so....if you check your gallery you'll see I'm quite the night owl postin comments ..... and just look around.

Gonna go rest some more. Enjoy the rest of your day, it's beautiful here in IL

I would find a design tha I could make over and over with minor changes. I would use designer paper a lot and just a single quick stamped image. Then maybe she could stamp several in one session, cut them out in another, and assemble in a third session. Then join a swap! mail them out and get new stuff in return. Also make the same over and over with slight variations
