Default Retirement cards for men

Hi everyone, I am a basic card maker, don't have all the tools, all the goodies and not so talented---that being said, does anyone have some cards to show me about retirement cards. Perhaps they will inspire me to do something similar with the little that I have. My father-in-law is retiring in about 2 weeks. He is a mans man---as in no flowers, no foo foo---don't have a clue how to spell that!! So, if you have some ideas---please share. I appreciate it!

Does he have any hobbies? Golf, fishing, cars, etc that you could stamp?

Great idea---if he had hobbies. He works in the computer industry--his hobby--he comes home and works on computers. He is WAY involved in church activities. He is a long time Boy Scout---even went on a 50 miler when no one else would go at the age of 70ish. And every year he gardens---as in a huge garden---father of 7 now only he and my motherinlaw at home but he still gardens for a ton!! I have no scouting, computer stamps. And I think all my gardening type are more flowers But you have me thinking. Hmmm---thanks for the idea---I will have to check my supplies.

I did one with an Aloha shirt on the front of it and then on the inside I wrote this:
"put on your Aloha shirt and start enjoying your retirement". Hope this helps.

Nice idea but sadly I do not have an Aloha shirt---or any shirt stamp. Hmmm...just not sure what to do. Guess he'll get something really basic and plain----but at least he'll know we are thinking of him. And that is the important thing anyway. Thanks for the ideas. Now I need to sift through my "stuff" and figure something out.

Check out THIS awesome card by Nancy Riley. This is a graduation card, but i think it would work great for just about any occasion with a different sentiment.

I was going to suggest the same thing!

Try googling origami aloha shirt. And fold it with patterened paper or stamped paper.

I did a similar thing and used an old map as a background. Or you could print a tropical map type picture. I guess I'd suggest if you don't have a stamp that will do what you need, try to use your computer. Good Luck!

Search the gallery....I'm sure I've seen some retirement cards there.

Taking a break from painting my bedroom---and sadly not sure if I am totally fond of the color I chose---and decided to come play on the computer. Nice ideas. Perhaps tomorrow I will have time to work on it. I did try to search the gallery---but you get all kinds of weird things that don't relate to the search---well at least I do. And all I did see were very feminine type cards. But I will keep on searching and trying.

People often suggest using Stampin' Up's Lovely as a Tree set for masculine cards. It isn't specific to your father in law, but you could personalize the words on the inside. ... The new Occasions gallery will help with situations like this; two of us suggested Retirement as a category.

Here's a retirement card I made.

Instead of a boat, you could use a computer or computer monitor as the focal image. I'm sure you could find a picture if you do a search on the internet. I think it would also be fun, if you do have computer as the image, to have the retirement message on the monitor.

Hope that helps.

Well, I went to my local stamp store and found a laptop stamp and a dad stamp. I am working on the sketch challenges and the 217 was the perfect lay out for it. And I discovered the Congrats SU set and it was perfect too. Thanks for the inspiration. Here it is Lynn's Retirement
