Default What are the normal size for cards?

I was just wondering what different size cards to make. I would like to have an area set in my art room just for a basic cards ready to be made. Ginger

One of my personal standards and it is what I see most frequently is an 8 1/2 by 11 sheet of cardstock cut in half. These take the A2 envelopes. An easy way to make them is to take your cutter and score all the way down the paper at 4 1/4. Then cut it in half using the swing out arm with the ruler at the 5 1/2 mark. I actually have a sharpie mark at that point because I use it there so frequently. Hope this makes sense.

I have 3 sizes I like to make and I almost exclusively use 12 x 12 paper.

I do a lot of iris folding and I like to make 4x6 cards and then fold them over in 3 folds so that I'll have a window in the center. For these I can cut a 12x12 sheet in half and get 2 cards. My Coluzzle envie template has a size that these will fit.

The rest of my cards are either 5x7 or 5x5. Again, I can cut just one sheet of 12x12 paper to get one of each of these. First I cut a 2" strip so I have a sheet that is 10x12 then I turn it once and cut 5x10. This gives me a 5x5 and what's left (7x10) gives me a 5x7. The Coluzzle envie template also fits the 5x7 and the Coluzzle square envie template has a size for the 5x5.

Now if I can just figure out how to convert all those 2x12 strips that I have into some little mini-albums. Any advice on accordian folding so that it all matches up? =)

I do mainly 4.25 x 5.5 and 3 x 3. But I'm not a real "out of the box" crafter.

Me too. Just a regular 8-1/2 x 11-inch paper cut down the middle lengthwise - fold each piece in half and that's my card base. I do have quite a few 12 x 12 pieces of cardstock, and like Shark I have quite a supply of scraps to use for matting and what not.
