What music do you listen to while creating?
My favorites are Enya, Celtic Woman, and Braveheart. I also like Sarah McLaughlin and Norah Jones.
Do you find that music inspires you? I do:) |
I listen to a lot of stuff from 60's, 70's and 80's. But my favorites are Frank Sinatra, Maroon 5, Amy Grant, Elvis, Peter Cetera, Shedaisy. I haven't updated my iPod in awhile and really need to but I listen to a variety, just depends on my mood as to what I listen to.
I think I work better with music than without...but sometimes if I am going to do something really quick I don't always turn it on. |
I love music, and always have my car stereo blasting. But I don't like to listen to music when I make cards. It seems to distract me rather than inspire me.:)
I usually have a cable news station on in the background when I stamp. |
Classical ... I love Chopin, Bach, Beethoven, Grieg, Mozart, Dvorak, Vivaldi. and if I really need to get a LOT done in a hurry, Irish music!! : )
talk radio! :)

We have a classic rock station that I like when I'm papercrafting. Nothing like a little Alice Cooper to get the creative juices flowin'! Ha!
Gospel for me.
I can't tolerate the hum all of the floresent lights inn my shop, and music drowns the noise out. B. |
I listen to either the 70's or 80's music channels on tv.
A sound machine set to either Ocean or Rainforest. Bliss.
This is so interesting isn't it? So many ways to get creative juices flowing for different people! I love it:)
If I listen to rock when I want to create.... I'd end up away from my desk, dancing and singing, then I'd forget what I was doing:D lol |
Lately it's been the Black Eyed Peas!

Oldies! 70's or 80's! Love to sing along! Husband says I can't carry a tune but I don't care! Puts me in a great mood!
I always start with silence.. isn't that funny? My studio is in the basement. I usually go down there to get something else and get distracted by some pretty scrap of paper. So it's silent when I start... if it's a planned work session, then anything I know the lyrics to will work LOL!
Silence is bliss when I'm in my stamPing room. I have three kids and things can get quite loud so I enjoy the silence!
Depends on my mood. Anything from New Age to Queen or country, or Nat King Cole, or blues... been a while for the Black Eyed Peas, but I may need to put that on next.
I like quiet when I stamp. When I do craft with music I love classical. If it's anything else then I am studying the songs and get all distracted.
I listen to my itunes playlist. I know it by heart, so I am able to tune it out so it becomes background music only. I can sing along while I make cards if the urge comes. In fact I listen to the one playlist so often my DH is starting to sing along as well.
Usually Judge Judy in the background:p !! Really, I have the tv on and I listen occasionally but mostly it's drowning out the noises in my head!;)

I have noises in my head too!! My husband teases me about it, and mom used to say, "only highly creative people..." Don't ya just love moms? |
No music - horror/thriller movies!
I ONLY listen to Christian Music. SOS radio is the best!
blessings. |
I love listening to my nature CD's. My craft room is also the kids school room so when they are busy doing there school work and I get a free moment from teaching I will work on cards and the music is calming and doesn't distract them from there work. My sister calls it our zen room because of how calming and relaxing it is in here.
None, I love peace and quiet!
If I'm doing something that requires concentration - like cutting out fabric for a pattern or a quilt - I need silence.
Once I switch to auto-pilot I will listen to; New Age, Celtic, Classical, NPR radio. Papercrafting seems so much more lighthearted than sewing to me, so usually 60's oldies. Papercrafting is always fast and fun. Sewing can be ..... well.... not. |
Anything they play/sing on GLEE!!!

I taught 5th grade for many years and I often played nature sounds or classical music for the kids when they wrote. There is a book called "Mozart Makes You Smarter." It explains how listening to Mozart increases your intelligence and how kids scored on the average of 15 points higher on IQ tests. The kids would groan when I played it...UNTIL I told them about the whole smart thing!! Then they were allll for it!! lol One kid's mom told me she even listened to it every night while she slept rotfl!! One kid asked for it every day before a math test, so it would help him pass his test. Of course, I suggested actually studying  Kids are toooo funny:cool: |
Usually it's some kind of blues...Johnny Winter and Joe Bonamassa are favorites along with quite a few others really. Of late it's been Los Lonely Boys as I just saw them in concert..can't get enough of those Boys! They rock!
I guess I'm wierd...I like to listen to recorded books!
DH bought me speakers for my iPhone so I could listen to Pandorra Radio in the studio. This allows me to chose a station that fits my mood but right now I am really into the Colbie Callait station. Sometimes I like to hear the sound of speaking and for those times I listen to NPR. And then there are the times that I prefer silence......
If I am stamping at certain times, I catch the John Tesh radio show here in NYC. I find his voice soothing and the daily "intellengence for your life" rather interesting. They usually play 60,70,80-present stuff. But all mellow. If it is not on I use my favorite music (country) to stamp with. I love to sing along and it relaxes me....
Music? I get whatever is on the teevee in the living room. At night when I have the house to myself I like it totally quiet, LOL!
But occasionally I tune the satellite dish to one of the music channels, they have everything imaginable. Really don't need radios anymore. |
As of right now I have a portable DVD player and I listen to movies that I have already seen. If I had a radio or when my son has my I POd gpoing it will be a mix of Classic Rock and Country.

Adele and 80's through Pandora on my iPad.
talk radio (Philly station), the Killers, or alternative rock.
Anything fun, peppy, and gets my groove going!!!
Usually Muse and I sing along, or classical music. I avoid Leonard Cohen like the plague especially when I'm using a scalpel.
A little Led for the Head and Pink Floyd always get me in a creative mood, plus just plain old classic rock!
I go in fits and spurts . . . sometimes I'll listen to my own music collection but more often I'll tune into Shoucast Radio Rockabilly radio or blue collar radio. Lewis Black, Dane Cook and Ron White make me laugh every time.
