Default What made you start your blog

I have noticed a big trend recently in doing blogs and I have had so much fun looking at what everyone has done. It is almost like meeting you in person. I was wondering what made you decide to do a blog? Was it to keep family members informed? Friends informed? Was it to just tell the world who you are?

Thanks for sharing.

I'm lousy at paper journals; to chronicle my development/progress as a stamper, with a combination of writing and photography, and, in all honesty, to poke fun at myself and have a good time along the way.

I changed from doing workshops as a demo to just becoming hobby which means I'll support myself through my own orders. My blog was just started last month as a means of sharring my work, ideas, and techniques to my customer, friends, and downline (and anyone else who cares to look!)

I felt it satisfied my need to share my ideas now that I wasn't holding classes any longer. I also love that it's not product specific. Even though I still use 90% SU products I don't have to feel guilty throwing a Bella or Stickles up there

My upline made me do it -- and I'm so glad she did! I really love blogging. (then again, I really like talking to myself, so I guess a blog is a natural extension of that -- LOL!)

I started mine to share my creations with my family and friends, who are scattered all over the US. It's alot of fun and really pushes you to do something creative on a regular basis. I also think it makes try different techniqes, just so that I have something to post!!

I think it is a great way to keep a record of what's happening in my life and easier for me to do so on the computer than to sit and hand write it. I also like being able to share things I make and knowledge about scrapbooking and stamping.

I "had" to start a blog. I had 127 emails requesting I do so! (From SCSer's and customers!) I haven't even told my extended family about it! LOL! I have the challenge of the day, a technique and one of Markies Adventures every day. I just started it last week, and have a lot of hits already. I also stopped getting the "blog begging emails!"

After 3 years of being on another site my gallery suddenly got deleted because I started using a watermark.....that definitely prompted me to start my own blog so I can chronicle my paper journeys. It is so much fun!

I wanted to be just like Amy R.

No really I thought it would be fun and family could see all my cards instead of just the ones I send them. The coolest part is that I can go back and see cards that are long sent to people. I really think it makes me more likely to actually send them now.

Also it's fun.

I've wanted to blog for a long time, but just never pushed myself to actually set one up. So I finally did, and it's really fun! It gives me some reason to make something. And it lets me babble, and no one can stop me!

I started mine as a way to stay in touch with my customers, show them more samples, and to give them additional ideas and inspirations. My goal is to have all of my customers actually USE the stamps and accessories they have purchased at workshops.

I wanted to show more projects to my customers and also to help test out possible SCS blogs. And it gives me a sense of accomplishment.

I started my blog just so my family/friends could see what projects I've been doing, then it evolved into a blog also for the customers from the LSS I work at so they could see pics of my upcoming classes.

Now I'm hooked on blogging and enjoy sharing my love of scrapping and stamping with everyone who drops by.

I originaly started mine for family to share my pictures when they were complaining it took too long to email them. Then I saw some others turning them in to craft blogs and I liked that idea. It's made me be more crafty. Plus I can *talk* to someone about what I did, b.c my DH looks at me like I am insane sometimes! So I blab on there!

Well, I started mine because my Dad asked me to help him with one for him. Mine sat for almost a year before I got " the blog bug". My long distance customers wanted more samples than just my monthly newsletter and my local customers are not big web surfers and were intimated by the gallery here. So I started a stamping one. Then family members wanted more pics of the kids so I started a family one. Then our wrestling club wanted one to track the tournaments.....it never ends! (but I love it!)

In addition to what pretty much everyone else is saying about sharing their creativity/crafts with others (customers, family, friends, downline, etc.), I had different reasons for turning to blogging.

I'm a teacher, but no longer working in a classroom. In some ways, blogging kind of replaces that teaching outlet that I no longer have. In my current job, I do a lot of writing, but it's pretty technical. The blogging gives me a chance to do some "fun" writing, which I enjoy. Also, I'm currently 2/3 of the way to a masters degree in instructional technology. Blogging seemed like a good way for me to combine two of my interests (stamping and technology-related stuff). Since it's a growing trend in the technology world, I thought that since I'm supposed to be developing some level of expertise in technology, it would be good for me to give blogging a try.

Hi Nicole,
I started mine to keep in touch with my SU customers after I moved...then it stopped being about that and started being a way to share what I was doing "creatively" with everyone and anyone who wanted to listen. Now it is a way for me to do some writing daily (as an English teacher...I think writing is SOOOO important) and a way to challenge myself as a stamper. I have found that I am pushing myself to be more creative and to try new things. There is pressure, but not the pressure to "be the best" or to have the highest ratings or anything like that...it is a positive pressure from myself that keeps me fresh. It does take a lot of time, but I love every minute of it...and I do it for ME. Sure, others read it (and I am happy they seem to enjoy it), but I would do it even if they didn't.

Happy Blurfing!

Smile Why I blog

I started my blog when I was in a period that I didn't feel very creative. Posting daily has forced me to set the time aside to scrapbook or stamp for myself instead of just for work.

Isn't that the truth Amy? I started mine around the same time as Amy. There were only a few, that's true.

I had resigned from Stampin' Up and missed the camraderie of hanging out with many of the stampers that were in my downline.

I was drawing my own stamps at that point and thought is was a good way to share my ideas and meet some new stampers. It just kind of took off and became a place that I really enjoyed escaping to. I still love to blog. I am so busy but I try to do it at least every other day. It's my get away. LOL!
Hugs,
Gina K.

I started mine in June of 2006, the only ones I looked at were Julie's, Linda Carnell's, and Heather Nichols blogs. I thought they were the neatest thing and thought it might be fun to start one. Thats why I started one, I kept it because I have been a journaler since I could write and I wanted to share the thoughts behind my projects.

Me too to everything you wrote!! I plan on having a monthly newsletter to my customers and a blog tutorial or project ideas as well, instead of classes. Pictures of my creations to inspire them, because as someone else mentioned, the SCS gallery overwhelms my customers.

Blogging is also a way for me to write more creatively- (i'm an english major). I just moved over to wordpress from blogspot as they offer "pages", which satisfies my OCD organizational mania.
I love reading everyone's blogs!

One of my stamping friends kept hounding me to do it. And then my coach started hounding me to do it.

I finally gave in.

When I started my blog last July, it really helped to get me out of a creative slump and I regained my joy of stamping and creating.

I've made a ton of new friends through it and have been given some incredible opportunities through it. I don't know WHY I didn't do it earlier.

Oh my goodness, that is so me right now. Luckily I do have a little girl that is more than willing to clap her hands and tell me how pretty the card is, but yes, it would be nice to show everyone else and get their opinion.

I started mine in Jan 2006 and to be honest I didn't really know what a blog was lol. Basically I had a website where I was uploading photos of my cards with a small amount of blurb - mainly to share my work with my UK forum buddies as our forum at that time didn't have a gallery. Anway the server my site was hosted on died over the christmas holiday and the back up also failed so I basically lost everything and was v upset. My OH set me up with a blog to appease me and said you can upload your photos to this and put some more text if you want to, plus you can play with the colours etc - great I thought. It was only much later in the year when crafting blogs took off that I realised that I was actually running a blog lol. These days mine is quite handy as an online brochure of my work to refer organisers too when I am applying to have a stall at craft fairs to etc - that's why I don't really put much personal blurb on mine and limit it more to the cards.
