I made my mother in law a card organizer for Christmas. Filled it with cards, etc. Put a lot of heart and work into it. I even filled in all the family's birthdays!
My DH's birthday is first this year. She didn't give him the card I had made. We were over there yesterday and the dang thing is just sitting on her desk!
I felt like taking it back! Grrrrrrr.................
I know I'm whining! ;) Going to look for some cheese to go with that whine!
I agree with the thoughts that (a) she felt funny using a card back to your household that you had made and (b) she had something already picked out and didn't want to compete with whatever YOU made for hubby.
I bet that she loves the cards and wants to save them. I know that I have some like that. I should give them away, but they are too beautiful to part with.
Maybe she is uncomfortable giving the cards back to you.....
My mother takes great care to never send back to anyone in my immediate family, cards I have designed and given to her for her use--instead, my sweet Mama attempts to make/stamp her own cards to send to us, or if all else fails, she will purchase a card to send to us. I think my mom feels like if she sends one of my creations back to one of us, it's just kinda weird?
Which I can understand! I would feel weird sending, for example, my friend Ellen, a card back to her or one of her family members, that she had given to me for my personal use. SWIM? ;)
I would suspect, as Cyndi pointed out, your MIL may feel the same way?

Sorry Patti. I know how that feels. It sucks, but I'm dying to see what it looked like!!! I would love to CASE it! I have been looking for a card organizer to make and would love to see a picture of your work of art! Do you have one you can share and do you have a template of how you made it??? Huh, huh, huh???
I had this same problem with my Grandma, I finally had my mom ask her why she never sent the cards I made. Her answer was that she didnt know anyone she liked enough to send them to. I finally figured out that she likes looking at them, so I make at least two of each design so she can keep one and send one. And I told her that if she didnt start using them I would quit sending them. I think that worked.
