Default What is everyone using on their Christmas Cards?

My boyfriend had the great idea to try and get me to BUY pre-made Christmas Cards!!!!

I don't own ANY Christmas sets yet, so I am just gathering some opinions on them!!!

TIA!

For my special friends and family, I'm going to be using the Santa from the retired set Yuletide Montage (I just purchased it on the BST boards here). I kicked myself for not getting it when it first came out.

Otherwise, I'll be making various cards with the other Christmas sets I have.

I will be using TAC's "Buggie Christmas". I just love the Daisy angel. Plus, I'm using the Santa Snail to make my mom some cards to use with her Secret Santa gifts. Too stinkin cute!

I think I'm going to use a wheel somehow (jumbo or smaller, I'm not sure). Cards just get done so much faster and easier when you use a wheel...now to decide which one and coordinate a set with it...

I'm using TAC's Nativity Silhouette. I really want something that is more religious this year. Last year, I chose Solemn Stillness and really liked it.

You might want to check with a group of stamping buddies to see if you can all get together and trade the sets you used last year so you have something new but don't have to buy a whole new set just to do cards. I have lots of Christmas sets to make tags and wrapping paper with, but I don't necessarily want to use the same one to make cards.

Probably Solemn Stillness, because I just got it this year.

Sassy and Seasonal for a few of my single girlfriends

And Frosy if I get time to make cards with that set.

I also got a cat stamp from inky antics that I'm going to make a small insert "from the cat" that says Meowy Christmas.

I was just browsing the new catalog last night - thinking I am going to TRY to find time to make cards this year... I forget the name of it - but there is one that looks like Jeruselum..... it looks real "desert"y..... I thought that would be appropriate coming from Iraq.... I was thinking about getting some of the new colors to make them too....

I am using Heavenly Peace from the mini catalog. I love this set and we always send out Christmas cards with a religious theme. Last year I used Madonna and Child and embossed all 65 of them. Not this year it is going to be a simpler design for sure.

I am a Christmas Freak!!! So I make about a bazillion different cards. Even my postman and sanitation workers get handstamped cards from me!

From SU I will be using the Sassy and Seasonal and the new ornament set. From TAC, I've made some (yes, I start in June, told ya, Christmas Freak!) with Train Collage, Cheers, May Your Merry, Ho Ho Ho and the new Christmas Hostess set whose name escapes me. I'm planning on using "One Bright Star" for my religious cards.

If you don't have Christmas sets, remember, many flowers quickly become pointsettias, most foliage with a few drops of red glitter glue becomes holly, and angels are always appropriate. Gift stamps from birthday sets are too.

House Mouse's "Kitty Snuggle" and TAC's "Faith Hope Love" sentiment.

I'm still working on this myself. What stamps do I use? I actually did start my 2006 Christmas cards while at my in-laws last Christmas based on a neat card I received from my best stamping friend. (With her permission to borrow her design.) But... now I've changed my mind. I think. Or maybe I should just finish assembling them and be done. What I need to do is just DO something.

I have three boxes of cards packed away in case I NEED to send "store-bought" cards due to illness, injury or maybe even something related to possibly being pregnant sometime. I figure it doesn't hurt of have them handy anyhow, especially since I bought them at 75% off after the holidays.

My "rule" is to have my cards done before I go to any stamp conventions during the year BUT the St. Paul Rubberama has been cancelled this year and the Fargo convention that is normally held in August was held Easter weekend this year (dumb time to have a convention). So.. my motivation to get the cards done just wasn't there. I didn't break my "rule"... because there weren't any conventions.

I"m using Solemn Stillness this year with the swirling stars jumbo wheel (I think)! The colors I'm using are going to be almost amethyst and vintage violet...the same colors used in the catty to showcase this set.

Solemn Stillness has been in the catty for how many years, and for some reason, this year, it just popped out at me!

I'm making layered cards using one of the backgrounds and trees from Outlines. They will probably cost me more in postage, though, because they have several layers. I'm using some modern colors--black, silver, lime, and turquoise.

Do you own Heartfelt Thanks??

If you do you can make 3 different Christmas cards with this set. Check out the gallery. I have seen it made into a tree, wreath and the flowers used to make those christmas flowers 9which I can never spell so I won't even attempt it).

I know that I'll use Solemn Stillness. I usually do 2 or 3 designs. I may use Happy Winter, since I've had it for years and never used it (although I love it!).

I'm going to use the present stamp from Good Things Grow. I'm going to use black cardstock for the base and use traditional red and green for the stamped images. I'd like to put something on the black cardstock for a background, I'm thinking of getting the Snow Flurries from the holiday mini and emboss them in silver or maybe just stamp them in white. Believe it or not, I actually got this idea from a pop-up ad that was REALLY bothering me last holiday season. I guess we can find inspiration in anything, can't we?

Last year I used Frosty. This year, I'm using a stamp someone on SCS mentioned called "wise siamese." Maybe I'm warped, but I thought it was so funny and cute. I hope this link works, to see a pic of it:

This year my plan is to use the A Muse stamp "Santa's Cookies". I have it all designed, but haven't ordered the stamp...yet. The card is going to be quite simple because I make 85 cards a year, and like the look of a simple card. Once I have it completed, I will upload it for all to see.

I like to make a variety. I will be using:

Peaceful Wishes
Dotted Background with sayings from Glad Tidings (LOVE those sayings)
Snowflake Spot
Think BIG from Holiday Mini-I think it will look so cute paired with the 2-sided designer paper from the Holiday mini.

I like using non traditional sets sometimes.

Lovely as a Tree makes such beautiful Christmas cards. I also want to use Heavenly Peace.

I also really like Loads of Love because I can use it for just about anything.
