Default What do you use the most....SU related

I just sent in for my starter kit, I'm so excited! I was looking through the catalog last night and was looking at all the accessories. I don't have hardly anything...just mainly stamps...well, I have a couple punches. I was making my "wish list" for my next order and had no idea what to get. I know I want accessories...stuff that I can demonstrate. Okay, my question is...as a demonstrator what do you use the most out of the accessories? What do your "customers" like the most? TIA. Sorry, if I didn't make any sense!

I use ribbon on every card. And brads. All SU color-coordinated, of course.

Welcome to the demo sisterhood! You should join the demo forum and you'll find lots of tips from the demo perspective.

Some of my must haves to spice up cards are the colored brads and ribbon. You MUST get the Word Window punch since there are so many techniques that can only be done with that.

Good luck to you and happy stamping!

welcome to demo status. I love SU ribbon. It is such a great buy and it cooridinates so well with our cs. I also love the ticket corner punch! Cardstock, cardstock, and more cardstock! I can't get enough of our cardstock. Love that the colors match our inks! Oh, and I have to say Hodge Podge too! get a kit, or two, or all three! Have fun, and don't say I didn't warn you-it is soooo addicting!

Thank you for all your replys! I will definately be getting some paper! I can't seem to get enough of it! I do have some Hodge Podge. And I will definately be needing some ribbon and ink pads!

I've found it to be addicting already...that's one of my main reasons for becoming a demo...I was ordering from my demo (now my upline) every month! Thanks so much for all your help! Still love to hear what other say!

If you have the hodgepodge, then you need the oval punches, too! I agree with ribbon, too, I get one roll on all of my orders (but, I am not a demo!) Have lots of fun!

The ribbon is such a great deal! I always show the math how those $1 rolls at Michales for 3 yards are more expensive than SU's! (Yea, I still buy the occasional $1 roll, I mean where else could I have possibly found watermelon ribbon?!)
Also, the heat gun and white embossing powder looks sooo cool. A white craft stamp pad will sell itself. I love perfect layers, if you have a lot of scrapbookers, they will bite on this. (I don't know what I ever did without it!) Get a couple of markers too, so you can show them how to color on the stamp and then stamp to get different colors. Oh, and don't forget wheels.
You can keep going and going......
P.S. My customers don't spend the money on the brads, eyelets, etc. they go to the big craft stores for that. But they know SU is the place for stamps, paper and inks...Good luck!!

My one recommendation, if you don't already have them, is the full set of markers in a caddy. You can do almost everything with a marker that you can with an ink pad, and it's a great way to get all of the colors! That was by far the best purchase I made, both from a user and demo perspective. I use the markers every day.

I would also get brads and ribbon and the heat tool and embossing powders. Also a couple of punches -- the word window punch is a great choice and my personal favorite is the square steps corner punch -- you can get a big impact with a punch in just one corner of a mat and corner punches in general seem to be a favorite of card makers and scrappers alike. Finally, I would highly recommend a 2 way glue pen and dazzling diamonds glitter.

HTH.

ribbon, ribbon, ribbon! after doing a ribbon club, i ended up with all the grosgrain and love having all the colors at my disposal! ribbon goes on just about everything i do.

Not a demo, but as a customer I can tell you what I love

Ribbon
Buttons
Brads
Cardstock in 81/2 x 11
Stampin Spots and Classic Pads
Twill tape
2 way glue pen
dimensionals

I love it all, but I guess these are what I buy the most other than stamps.

Perfect layers are two plastic rulers that have grooves on the underside at various measurements that help you get straight, even mounts. I think they do come with directions, but it's really easy. First glue your photo onto the piece of cs that you want it mounted on. Then bump up the ruler to the edge of the photo using the measurement you want (1/8 in, 1/4 in, etc.) While still holding the ruler, use your xacto knife to cut down the side. Voila! Instant, perfect, straight cut! After a couple of times, you will be a pro. HTH.

How could I have possibly forgotten about twill tape and dazzling diamonds on my last post?!! I agree with the last poster )

I'm a customer...
I LOVE my full set of markers. I use them every time I stamp. Ribbon and brads are also on my list. Love the ticket corner punch too. My mother has the wheel guide and says she can't live without it!

My favorite Stampin' Up products are:
- Dimensionals -- I put them on every order!
- Word Window Punch
- Blender Pens

...and of course their solid cardstock and stamps.

Hehe, I'm not a SU! Demonstrator, but this looked like a fun thread to post in. I definitely use ribbon the most. I'm not sure if you could consider this an 'accessory' or a 'tool', but I use Pop-Dots on TONS of stuff.

I'd say ribbons too. For my ribbon club I have 5 ladies who each order one roll of different colors and we split them. So you get 5 colors for the price of one. That is how I started my ribbon collection, until I could get them all slowly.

Not a demo..just a good customer! I love my tag punches...I have used them on so many cards (with and without the designated tag stamps) and I still love them. You can make any image into a tag and even if you just get the larger size punch, you can trim the edges of it and layer it.

I second the twill tape...that was one of my first accessory purchases. Cardstock, inks, and reinkers also rock!!

Good luck!

You need ALL the colors of ink and cardstock. And just a comment from my experience as a demonstrator - get the full-sized inkpads if you possibly can afford it. I've had a few customers get the Stampin' Spots because you can get more colors for less money, but if they're really hooked on stamping, they ALL have ended up getting the full-sized pads eventually. I have the Stampin' Spots in the CRAFT (pigment) inks and I'm very happy with those. But I don't use my Craft ink all that much, but I LOVE having all the colors available to me.

As for accessories, ribbon, markers, brads (you can get just gold and silver first since they go with everything and add the colors later) and Dimensionals. I use them on at least half my cards and they really add a lot!

Heat embossing is very cool too, but I'd wait a little while before jumping into that, unless you've already fallen in love with it. <G> And be sure to get the SU Heat Tool, not one from a Craft Store. The quality is much better, and if you show it to your customers, they will buy it and soon it will pay for itself. Our embossing powders are the best too. And you need the embossing buddy too. So you might want to wait until you can get all these things at once. Also, I don't use the Powder Pal thingies, I put my Embossing Powder into the Gladware sandwich-size plastic containers, one color in each container (maybe that's obvious, but...). Then you can dip your card in there and shake off the extra powder and not have to mess with the mess of getting the powder back into the little jar. I keep my jars to show my customers how their EP will come, but I use the Gladware containers and write the name of the EP (Gold Glory, for example) on the lid with a Sharpie.
Oh, and if you're going to emboss, you'll need Versamark.

Be sure to get SU's Whisper White and Very VAnilla cardstock and if you get Glossy cardstock, there are so many EASY but cool techniques you can do with it.

Oh, how could I forget PUNCHES! I use mine on almost every card. Circles, squares, Ticket Corner, Word Window, Ovals, Tags, they're all great! If you get one large circle, try to get both so you can layer them - same with squares, tags, and ovals.

I've had some HUGE shows for my demo and, on occasion, work for her doing organizing and other behind the scenes stuff. I am in a unique spot to see the insides of this business as a customer and how trends affect a demo.

What I have observed is that when she shows simple, inexpensive techniques almost everyone buys the products and helps to boost hers (and my!) sales. Remember that the local hobby store has many of what you sell so you need to showcase what they DON'T have!

White Gel Pen...this one is the best!
Mat Pack...Paper piercing is SO easy and effective. The guide is worth the 10 bucks!
Roses in Winter...it's impossible to make a bad card with this set! I've convinced her that this set SELLS!
Glossy paper...there is so much you can do with this that is super impressive.

Have fun, and good luck. If you are even half as successful as my demo you will be awesome!
