What do you think the next "big thing" will be

In stamping, last year, it was penguins, this year it seems to be owls and birds of all types and of course, cupcakes! What do you think the next big thing will be?

horseygal 06-29-2008 01:21 PM

huh, that's a good one!
Not too good at predicting, but I sure have enjoyed the birds and cupcakes.

KathiR 06-29-2008 01:47 PM

Space and circus stuff.

Squirrels and chipmunks.

More birds, owls, penguins, and more exotic birds.

Small images to go on inchies, moos, and twinchies.

tepalf 06-29-2008 02:04 PM

What are moos and twinchies?

i think moos is just another name for inched...

not sure what twinchies are tho

valeriecathleen 06-29-2008 02:28 PM

I'm seeing a lot of chandeliers lately...

KathiR 06-29-2008 02:29 PM

Twinchies are 2" squares. Moos are 28mm x 70mm (~1 1/8" x 2 3/4").

missyterry 06-29-2008 02:31 PM

Okay...I vote for moos and twinchies!!!! LOL
I'm hoping the birds, owls, cupcakes and inchies stay around for awhile.
Like Cindi, I'm enjoying them and adding to my stash of rubbah!!!

tay0479 06-29-2008 03:47 PM

I think silhouttes will be the next in thing. I think that the sizes of stamps will be smaller to go along with the trend of ATC's, inchies, moos, etc....

annebarc 06-29-2008 03:48 PM

How about bees??? I love bee stuff, like bee mine, bee well, etc.

StampingShawn 06-29-2008 04:26 PM

I think there will be more silouhette kinds of stamps. I'm seeing lots of these reverse images that are so adorable. Trees, flowers, etc.

Erin K 06-29-2008 04:42 PM

octopus are gonna be HOT. They will be the next owls.

Deer are already pretty trendy, but I think they will gain a little ground before they go "out".

I think we have a bit longer with the owl trend. I don't think it's over quite yet.

Colors will be really fresh. A little towards the bright side, but still nice. Fully saturated color. Not florescent though.

And I think the designer type cards will continue to be hot. I mean clean strong desigener type layouts.

I agree that space will remain a great theme.

buttons2 06-29-2008 04:52 PM

I hope it's chipmunks; they are so cute.

I really love the chandeliers I've been seeing. I just saw a cute card with one and it said "You light up my life"---can't remember where I saw it, though. I like how they tend to be so girly-girl!

CharityHand 06-29-2008 05:10 PM

oh, I have no idea. I'll just wait for it to come and will just hop on the bandwagon!!! I do love squirrels and chipmunks though! LOL

I love pink 06-29-2008 06:05 PM

I am not sure but I can't wait for something new, I do not like the owls!! Please don't hate me!! Just did not get this trend!!

Doodah 06-29-2008 06:23 PM

I don't know what to say... I really think Riley the MOOSE is too cute right now!!!

1busymomof2 06-29-2008 06:29 PM

I agree, I think bold bright colors, birds and cupcakes are still hot, ledger style backgrounds I am seeing more of also. Oh and felt embellishments and ribbon

Your post just made me laugh, I don't know why. I can see owls being cute . . . an octopus would be a bit of a stretch for me. :)

Doodle Factory has a funky octopus!!!

peggysue 06-29-2008 06:49 PM

Well I'll have to look that up. And maybe High Hopes has a cute octopus too for all I know. :)

GypsyRoseStamper 06-29-2008 07:07 PM

Don't forget thatm recent Flourishes rage; I don't mind at all the assortment of flourishes we have to choose from that.

Silhouettes seems like the best bet for the near future.

If I were pregnant (fat chance), why in the world would I want to receive a card with a pregnant moose???

http://fiveprime.org/hivemind/Tags/kawaii,octopus look at those! They are super duper cute. And America loves to embrace Japan's sense of cute.

Get ready for it!

Texas-Scramper 06-29-2008 07:45 PM

I am so not in to birds, I'm not sure what people see in them, lol. I am so sick of seeing them everywhere (no not real ones silly), but to each his own. I love cupcakes though. Didn't know they were a "big thing" right now , what am I missing? where are all the cute cupcakes??

Inkadinkado, Pink Paisley, Amuse, Flourishes, Papertreyink, Stampendous, My Favorite Things, and a few others all have cupcake stamp sets...and I want them all >"

Erin K 06-29-2008 08:00 PM

Inque boutique has some cupcakes, Also odd bird planet has a bunch of them.

jacksonbelle 06-29-2008 08:08 PM

I too think the bird/cupcake trend will continue. At least I certainly hope so! I think they'll just keep making them even COOLER and CUTER! :)

peggysue 06-29-2008 08:09 PM

Now a cupcake with an octopus on it . . . that would be something. :)

Texas-Scramper 06-29-2008 08:20 PM

gracious that is a lot of cupcakes! thanks! off to see if I can find them!

lutheran 06-29-2008 08:27 PM

I think flourishes will begin to fade out as people use them a lot now and will get over them soon, like doodles a few years ago. I think in their place will be more angular geometric shapes, kinda retro '50's to '70's.

I like looking at fashion and seeing how those trends affect home decor and then eventually cards. From what I've seen from the fall shows, it looks like gray will continue to big and of course brown will be back for fall. I *love* grays and browns better than black on my cards as accent colors! Also, like the spring, bold bright patterns seem like they'll stay into the fall with a more retro '70s feel.

I'm excited to see SU's new InColors. The new rich blue (I think it's called Pacific Blue maybe?) might end up being my new favorite. Sometimes I feel like I can never find the perfect blue cardstock even though SU already has a million shades!

I really like birds and hope they stay, I feel like I haven't gotten all the bird sets I want yet! Cupcakes and other sweets are cute for summer but I feel like once fall rolls around I won't be feeling it as much.

charkinsmom 06-30-2008 01:44 AM

Monkeys!!

Happy Heart 06-30-2008 02:16 AM

I think the octopus from SU!s Silly Sea Life is cute!

I'm hoping for martini glasses and more wine.
Did I just type that out loud?;)

mitzi 06-30-2008 03:06 AM

I think quotes are going to be the next big thing - quotes with small images around them or little flourishes or just framed up in some doodly way - but definitely quotes! I see a strong trend leaning towards simple cards with large quote stamps on the front and minimal layering and embellishments.

You're soooo right!

twinwillowsfarm 06-30-2008 03:14 AM

I'm guessing the 'next big thing' will NOT be the wall rub ons! I hope it's more verses for inside cards. Seems like they are getting hard to find.

annebarc 06-30-2008 03:37 AM

I hope the owls aren't on the way out - since SU's owl set isn't even available for sale yet!
