Default Need help with a card idea please.....

So, my sister got engaged at Christmas, and has asked me to do her wedding invitations. I am so excited.

However, instead of someting pretty/elegant for the invitation, she was thinking more along the lines of an invitation like a ticket to a hockey game - Ice hockey - she lives in Canada

I have no idea where to start with a request like that!

Please help!!!

The only thing that has come to mind so far is 'Face Off Time' for time, and 'Game Day' for the date.

How do I turn a card into a 'hockey ticket'? Any ideas will be eagerly welcomed!

thanks

Off the top of my head, you could use the ticket corner punch to give the invitations the right shape!

I read your post and immediately started thinking - Center Line. Isn't that where all hockey games start - with a face off at the center line?

Are you going to make a "typical" one page invite? or more like a card invitation?

How about:
Here are your tickets to the event of the season!
you could get an image of a hockey puck, attach like a pocket on the front, and have the tickets sticking out. Background could be crossed hockey sticks?

hmmm - what a challenge! I'm just thinking out loud here - I hope my ramblings help!

As soon as I saw that she wanted a hockey theme I knew she had to be Canadian. I would suggest a regular card with the "tickets" inside. The outside card could still be elegant and the inside could have a pocket to hold the tickets. She could even include tickets for each person invited. So if it was John + Guest, that would be obvious on the tickets. (Let her fill in the names). Most professional sports tickets seem to have a photograph on the top with the info beneath. If you have the computer capability, a photo of the couple would be really nice. Just my two cents.

I love your suggestion of an 'elegant' card with the tickets inside Marsha. All the suggestions have been helpful - if anyone has any others to add, please do so.

Thanks

I would lean your sister toward the elegant with tickets inside. As much fun as a hockey themed wedding would be it is her wedding. If she goes too casual on the invitations she likely to get that style atire from her guests. She might want to think about putting in a statement about what guests should wear to her hockey wedding. The other thing is if the invitations lack a certain sophistication she's bound to have comments from extended family and friends. Some people have a difficult time breaking from the norm. I love the photo on the ticket idea, and a puck for a pocket. It does sound like a lot of fun!

you can do the hockey theme for shower or engagement announcements,
and do something more elegant (but not too fussy) for the wedding invite.
colors?? in favorite teams colors??

Stampin' Up! has a hockey set called Just Hockey that sells for $12.95. It's on page 79 of the new catty. It includes a hockey stick, puck and the word SCORE. (Being from northern Michigan... I think this idea is awesome!) As far as how people may dress if the invites are casual, I know in this area of the country, casual dress is common at weddings, so I think that's maybe more a regional norm than anything.

I agree, the Ticket Corner punch is a must! Make it an elongated ticket with the hockey stick stamped along the long edge and the photo at one short end. Include a seating number, section number, etc... maybe even have the family get tickets with press box seats!

Have fun with this!
