What to do with all of these cards!

When I first signed on here I did tons of swaps. Now, I'm just bogged down with cards and card samples. And I have no idea what to do with them all.

What do you do with your cards you get in swaps?

Thanks!

I've heard that people donate them to the soldiers. I donate mine to womens shelters and to the Seamans Mission for the seamen that don't get to leave the port and go shopping.

Someone else asked the same question awhile back. Look in this thread and you will find quite a few ideas for donations.
....all these cards?

I use mine RAK them give to the soliders my hubby is deploying in July and his Battilon FRG will be collecting them soon so we can send them off with some! I have over the door show hanger the plastic thing with pockets and have each "shoe" spot labels b-day, x-mas, flower, etc and the ones that match slip inside for easy to find cards as I need them!

Thanks gals. Those are great suggestions. Didn't know if it was appropriate to RAK cards you did not make yourself. I'll check out other places to donate some of them.

You could always send a bunch to a new demo ;)
LOL!

I always put a note in with my swaps that its ok to either resuse or donate if they wish. I'd rather someone recycle over sitting in a drawer somewhere

This was posted in another thread a couple of months ago....

I got this in a swap, you see.
It really made me smile.
I cherished it and showed it off
And kept it for awhile.
And now its time to pass it on
With just a small boo-hoo.

Cards for troops

I collect cards for deployed troops and would love any cards people have to donate...I have on FOB that is just absolutely in love with the cards they get form all of us...they say in their PX there are only 3 kinds and none are good choices...if fact it is kind of a joke among their family and friends that oyu can tell where they are as everyone gets the card...Bruce said His wife said "Oh thanks for the cards that Debbie and Judy got too!"

If you would like to send them please just email me at
buckeye_teach@ hotmail.com

thanks

Assisted living and nursing homes would be another place to donate cards.

I sent you a PM about another thread asking for card front donations. Here is the link.

How about joining the RAK board and making someone smile?!? :D
It's always nice to open up the mailbox to something handstamped!

kimeboss 03-09-2006 11:53 AM

I make the cardfronts into full cards and send them to my son in Iraq for him to give out. :D It's been working great and they really appreciate them.

If you'd like to donate cardfronts or cards, here's my address:
Kim Boss
PO BOX 437
Vaughn, MT 59487

Thanks!!

i would also gladly take any donations as our church has card ministry for those who are unable to get out of their home for whatever reason. This way it just keeps them a little more close knit with the community.

address:

1100 Fleetwood Court #21
Fredericksburg, VA 22401

Thanks!!

Well,
I don't have many cards yet since I've just started so for now I have a cork board that I display some of the cute ones on and then I bought photo holders, the one with some sort of base and then wires coming up from the top that you place the photos in. But when I have a d day - etc I sometimes use them if I'm in a hurry but I guess if I got to the point where I had that many I would probally send them to the soilders.

I make my favorite swaps into "Set Samplers". I do them in sets of 4 and take them to workshops with the same set I demo with. The girls all like seeing the different ideas with the same stamp set. After a while change the cards out and send to someone for a smile or donate. Works well and you can change them as often as you like so you aren't showing the same ones year after year.

http://www.chemoangels.com/

is the link to Chemo Angels - if you send them your cards, they forward them to individuals who will send them to chemo patients during therapy. It is a supply of handmade cards, and saves those individuals committed to sending the cards the time of shopping and the expense of the cards.

If you send cards for publication and they were not selected, it is likely that your card went to Chemo Angels or a similar organization.
