What is the best stamp set for one sheet wonders?
 

What are your favorite stam sets for doing one sheet wonders? I want to do a stamp a stack stamp camp next month and use the one sheet wonder format.

Well I am so glad you asked. When I came up with this idea I decided that sets with words in it works best. I only use one stamp set per osw. I do not want my customers overwhelmed with to much to soon. I also only choose two or three colors to use as well. I have been doing all my workshops this way for about 4 years now and It still is a big hit!!!

Karen's OSW is awesome. I have done it many times with Roses In Winter. Whenver I use this set I sell it to at least half the crowd. Even at one show a mother and daughter that lived together part-time. The daughter was in college and wanted her own set at school. I've also used the watercolor sets and sold them as well however the Roses always amaze they look so lush!

I just bought Roses in Winter for this very thing ... I want to do a one-sheet wonder at a workshop sometime later this winter ... or early spring, when people are starting to think about flowers!

I also think Shapes & Shadows and either Little Layers sets work wonderfully for OSW too. You can do a whole sheet with just the stamps in the set. I usually don't add words when I do OSW, though.

The Snowflakes set is very pretty; I used Ballet Blue, Pale Plum & Silver. That is a pretty seasonal set, though.
I also used the pinecone & branch from the Pines set. Good for "guy cards".

May I ask a "part 2" question? I like to do OSW too, but mine end up like they came out of a factory...how do you make your designs look "random"? I was told to make a triangle with the stamped images, but I don't get it right...

I use easy stuff, by the way~like Little Layers...I can't get the Roses in Winter to line up right, so it looks like a factory seconds reject...and I am too anal to like that look.

I like to use In Full Bloom. I usually use a couple of different sets for the look I like. I also always use some sort of word stamp.

I never go off a template. I dont' follow directions well. I just start whacking it up when it is done! Too much fun!

Me too! I look at the template for a baseline but end up trimming and cutting as I go - works better for me - I think its the fact that I am "line challenged" Can never cut a straight one and my square are never really "square" - gotta love using torn edge to get around that!!!

Make sure you "rotate" your stamps when you are stamping the images. Some right side up, some tilted left and some right, heck even some upside down. Since all the OSW pieces don't get used in the same orientation when you mount them on the card I think this helps create a random look as well.

My downline and I used Sketch It for a stamp camp we did together. It is nice and big. I can't figure out how to attach, but I will try to email the picture to you. (I tell my customers to make the design random, turn the stamp a quarter of a turn each time they stamp. I hope that makes sense.)

Hi everyone, I am so glad you love the cd from convention. When I listen to it I think to myself " did I really say that"
Now for the osw mystery!!
I sit and star a a blank piece of paper and than think, I always want some sort of scrap book element, a card, a gift bag topper or 2,4,6,8, bag and extra goodies. So when you know the sizes of these items you than mark those out of your blank card stock. What is ever left over makes the goodie items like book marks, post it note holders, sm baskets. Yes I do change my pattern every single month!!!

I really like watercolor minis and little shapes for OSW! There are so many great examples right here on this site!

WOW! Karen Gregorian! so nice to see you here! (if she ever reads this) I love doing OSW workshops. I'm so glad Karen was willing to share her great idea with us.
I love to do sets with smallish images and one word stamp. my favorite?? it'd have to be.......... ok I can't pick a favorite, but I really liked the one I did with Paris in the spring (just the flowers, Eifel tower, and "oh lala" stamps I believe).

As you are layering and stamping images, rotate the paper constantly.

Stamp in graduatingly tighter patterns, start with larger images first, and work down to smaller ones as "filler".

When you think you're finished, hold the paper out at arm's lengths and ever so slightly cross your eyes/allow your eyes to slightly blur. This helps reveal any gaps or holes in the overall pattern.

As far as which sets are best, I say ANY set can be used in this technique--but tiny ones, like A Little Love, will take a looooooooot longer to complete due to their smallness. :roll:

That said, I enjoy mostly using sets that have medium sized images, i.e. Little Layers I, II, Plus, Watercolor Garden I, II, Petal Prints, Botanicals, etc.

I am a laaaaaaaaaazy stamper and sorely impatient for finished results . . .

And, I can also see Karen's point about one that includes images AND words--this is especially beneficial for newbies who haven't had time to collect both a variety of image sets AND greeting sets to have as much versatility.

Has anyone done a OSW with Terrific Tulips. I just HAD to have that set and I haven't even used it! The problem I have with OSW is trying to use all those durn little pieces. I would like the kind where you stamp up a sheet and use it to make a whole bunch of the same kind of thingies. Like identical cards or bookmarks or something. Does anyone have any good ideas like that?

OSW is the best! All the "little pieces" force me to be creative. I like thinking, "ok, I have 2 one inch squares, how can I make that into a card?" I also only use CS scraps when I do these. It forces me to use up all the little pieces. I did one last month that turned out VERY cute. I used the crayon stamp from the Crayon Kids set. I stamped it in all the colors from an 8 pack of crayons. Layered with primary CS and ribbon and eyelets it was too cute! One page and lots of kids cards. I send them to my mom...she teaches 4th grade.

I'm wondering...could you do a OSW with Simple Shapes or Simply circle? I bet there is already some done with those huh? Maybe I should just go look! :)
