I see a lot of you using the Canvas background stamp and I love it. I am brand new to SU so I don't quite "get" it yet. Do you use versamark on the stamp and stamp it onto colored card stock to get a watermark image of the stamp in a lighter color or do you use the same color ink as your cardstock?
Also, I see people saying that are going to "case" a certain picture and I have no idea what that means.
Oh, yeah - can you do spell check when typing posts?
Thanks.
p.s. Another question. I have had 3 background stamps from Michael's that I have never used. I LOVE SU stamps now and want to stick to them as much as possible so that I can do swaps etc. with people only using SU products (especially IF I become a demonstrator). So my question is should I keep the stamps (which I got for 40%) or return them and buy SU background stamps like Canvas. The three unused ones I have are a wood grain effect, a fabric type of design (hard to describe) and one that has words of friendship all over it. I paid just under $8.00 each but if I take all three back I could buy SU stamps. I kind of like the wood grain one but I don't know if I can use along wiht SU stamps - what do you think? Would it go well well with the farming sets which I plan to buy anyway and the Lovely As a Tree that I will buy this month. It does have knots in it looking like a tree. I also have a Mason jar that has never been used and I keep all receipts. I saw SU has a jar also so should I return it? Do you guys use the jar very much?
CASE means to "copy" a card. So if I like "Aunt Jemima's" card, I might say "Wow, your card rocks! Can't wait to CASE it" and what I mean is I'm going to copy it It stands for "COPY AND STEAL EVERYTHING"
You could do canvas background in any color... versamark or the same color would be great... or a complementary color, like black on red
It's kind of up to you if you want to return the stamps or not. Totally a personal call!
You can't do spellcheck -yet. I'm hoping that's part of the BIG Daven has up his sleeve. As for the backgrounds. do you have any intentions of signing soon? If so, since money seems to be an issue, I'd return them. If not and you like them, I'd hang on to them and be a hostess to get more free stuff!!
HOW DO YOU CASE SOMETHING? DO YOU SAVE IT TO YOUR HARD DRIVE OR IS THERE A PLACE ON SCS TO PLACE ALL OF THE CASED ITEMS? THANKS!

If you like a card and want to copy it later you can click on the add to favorites at the bottom of the picture. To view go to the task bar and select My Favorites. HTH!
you can save it to your computer or if you see it in the gallery you can click on "add to favorites" and it will keep them in a spot for you.
but what people mean when they say they will case a card is that they recreated the card itself (using the same or similar colors, stamps and techniques).
stampin_jen: I signed up at the end of Jan. and I have quite a few stamps from SU and from Hobby Lobby. My thinking is this... if you sign up, stick to your SU stamps. If you are just making cards to give to friends or mail to someone, use whatever you want. Your background stamps sound pretty neat. I have a hard time letting go of stamps that I really like.
Sometimes I make up several different cards and envelopes, tie them with a ribbon and give a set of these as a gift to someone.
Have fun and good luck with your decision on whether to sign up. I love it already!!

I am an English teacher and working on my MA in English, but I hate having to actually think when posting. So I hope that we do NOT get spellcheck. Boards like this are my escape (and I guess my rebellion) against convention. I try to just type my ideas, and if they happen to be grammatically correct - great. If they are not, oh well.
Anyway, it is great to have a new SU convert Amy!!!
Mel, you are a trip! My stuffy old English teacher would die to hear you say, I wish you had been my English teacher. However, I always spelled probably wrong before spell check came into my life and after seeing my mistake with the correct spelling a hundred times I finally got it  so for my further education, I hope they get it - doesn't mean you have to use it  .
I think I will become a demonstrator so back to Michael's the stamps go and SU stamps, here I come. But, I may keep the wood grain one because I like country scenes. I'll keep the 1/2 half $1.99 50 piece card stock that is one sale this week though to practice CASEing (now that I know what that means) LOL.
And Amy, just for newbies, if you type in all caps on the computer, it's supposed to mean you're yelling!!! LOL
I know you're not, just thought I'd pass that along....
Has anyone seen the anime film "Spirited Away"? It seemed like the lead character was always either yelling or mumbling (the girl who played her was not a very good voice actor), and that's what I think of when I see these excited posts typed in all caps!

Oops! I just now realized I typed that question all in caps. It is going to take a while to get used this this no caps thing. Just so you know I was not yelling.
