Default well worn words

So for all of you that have this background stamp....how do you get it to look good on a card? I love background stamps...pretty much can't stamp a card without one. But I am having the hardest time with this one! It just ends up looking really splotchy. Maybe that's the way it's supposed to look?! I mean, I know it's aged and all, but when I've stamped it you can't even tell what it's supposed to be! Any tips?

I've found that it does not work tone on tone. It looks best when stamped with a dark color on a significantly lighter (or white) cardstock.

Try Rose Red on Regal Rose cardstock, or something similar and see if you like that better. The way it seems to look clearest though is always on white. I love it with Eggplant, Hunter, or Not Quite Navy on White.

Stamp it on glossy! Now I will go read Jan's thoughts!
