I colored in a stamp last night and am pretty happy with it. However, this morning I noticed that I'm just a HAIR outside the lines at the top. In yellow. You can't see it without really looking closely.
With yellow, I would "probably" keep it, but if it was red or blue or a bright colour, it would really bother me and I just might toss it. I am very OCD when it comes to my colouring.
If I spent FOREVER coloring the image and find I went out of the lines somewhere, I either cut out the image, or mask it and sponge ink around it, or I'll outline it with a blue copic if it's a pale color. I am down right obsessive about coloring.
I never toss anything, lol. I either find a way to correct it, cut it out or find another way to use it. What did you use to color the image? If you used water based markers or dye inks, it's possible to remove the color outside the line.
If it's not a huge boo-boo, I still keep it - if the recipient happens to notice my boo-boo, I simply say that is is part and parcel of my "creative charms"!
Depending on how big it is, I try and cover it up with paper piecing, coloring another partial image and pop it up on dimensionals, or find some kind of embellishment.

It totally depends on what color, where, and how long I spent coloring the image. If it's a case like yours, I'd slap some Stickles on it and call it "on purpose" ;)
ETA: Like my grandmother says, "It'll never be noticed on a galloping horse." She's a wise woman.
that's when i pull out one of my trusty grey copic markers and outline my image. either that or make a "halo" of colour, as i call it, around the image using a really pale colour, and that usually gets rid of all of my boo-boos.

Depends on how bad and who I am sending the card to...if it's for one of my (semi) adopted teenage sons, I don't worry. If it's for my stepmother or mother-in-law, perfection is the rule of the day. ;)

here are my 2 thoughts on this
1. if it is "prefect" people don't believe you did it
2. my SIL says i'm CDO--i have it sooooooooo bad that it has to be in alphabet order!
I'm pretty picky about my coloring too! I've used a white gel pen before to cover up small boo-boos, but sometimes it smudges. I've found that my Galaxy white paint pen works really well if I pounce it lightly over the mistake. You can barely tell there was a mistake then.
I'll have to give it away quickly so it doesn't irritate me.
This makes me laugh because IF I did keep the card (not toss it), I would also give it away quickly so that it wouldnt irritate me for too long! Funny!
This particular one was a yellow sharpie. It's a pretty pale yellow, so I'm just going to use it and to heck with the mistake!
Since Sharpies are permanent, you can try a little alcohol on a q-tip or maybe even the Copic or Prisma blender pens. I'd put a little of the Sharpie color on a scrap of c/s and try it first.
I am pretty particular about my coloring. I use an Ottlight and I'm always checking for those "out of the lines" spots. I sometimes resort to a magnifying glass to help me check for those spots, too.
Right now, I am using my Copics a lot, so I would try the colorless blender with that yellow Sharpie on SCRAP paper first. If it worked, then I would go to the image itself.
All the other suggestions that you have received are very good, too, like cutting it out, creating the shadow around it, embellishing with a flower or something and even sponging ink or chalk to create a background.
Pencils, I erase with a white eraser. I use one of the Pentel ones that "click" to push up the eraser.
Then again, when all is said and done, how many people even would notice it?
Most people I send cards to don't really know what goes into making them (time and effort) and "toss them " any way, so I have to live with that.

I'm with you on this - there are no boo-boos just opportunity to do something else/new/or leave it and know you are not a robot.
There's a Japanese word for that, "wabi" which is a deliberate error so you don't offend the gods by making something perfect. "It's wabi," you say with a straight face if anybody asks.
If it were Prisma pencils, you could use an eraser on the error. Or leave the wabi.
