Versamark and Scrapbooks
I know Versamark is acid-free, but how permanent is it? Will it last in my scrapbooks? Asking more about the tone-on-tone aspect rather than chalking over.

YES!
Here's something from the FAQ section on the Tsukineko (makers of Versamark) web site:
Q: Is your product acid-free? A: Yes, all of our pigment and dye inks are acid-free. Q: Is your product archival? A: Yes, everything except Impresshttp://www.tsukineko.com/images/registered.gif and Kaleidacolorhttp://www.tsukineko.com/images/registered.gif. So, Yes! Anita |
Versamark
I've had several experiences with my Versamark fading after a short time on a card or scrap page. Maybe you should try it for yourself. Stamp it on a card and then save it for a few weeks and see how it looks for you. I'd hate for you to use it on a scrapbook page you are hoping to keep forever and have it fade away.

Me too... i did a page that i covered with mini paw prints on it as a background...when I went back a few monthes later...NO PAW PRINTS!!!! |
You can always clear emboss. That'll prevent the fading effect, though I know it's a pain!

I've been using Versamark in my scrapbooks for three years I think. All of my pages still look brand new. I haven't noticed any fading of the ink, or any change in cardstock color around the ink. I highly recommend using it!

Versamark Fading
I've done a card where the versamark has faded so personally I wouldn't use it for a scrapbook. I was really disappointed to learn that it would fade. I agree with the suggestion to stamp in a similarly colored ink.

Well, I was hoping that maybe I could buy a versamark reinker, ink up an empty cartridge and use it with my wheels on scrapbook pages, but it sounds like it could fade out, so better not. It sure would have saved me from having to buy a lot of cartridges for my wheels. Now to decide which color I would use the most.
