Default Update on the CTMH gummy stamp issue!!!!

This is part of the email that was waiting for me when I got home:

Thank you for writing back. I do apologize for the information given in
the previous email. We will be able to replace your Uptown Girl stamp
set. Some of the early sets we produced have become gummy throughout
time without any apparent cause. None of the storing or cleaning
techniques you described would have caused this problem.
***************
HURRAH!!!, I am so very glad you guys encouraged me to stick with it.

Thanks for updating us. I was very disappointed that CTMH was not standing behind their product (I'm a former CTMH demo). That is great that they will replace the stamp set for you. Uptown Girls is one of my favorite stamps too.

Wonderful news! I'm glad they are replacing the stamp set for you and I really hope you will use it and consider future CTMH stamp sets.

Yeah! I'm glad they are replacing it. Everyone subscribe to this thread so if this happens to you, you have (although heresay) a statement from CTMH that they acknowledge the issue of gummy stamps and then will likely replace yours.

Was it a manager that e-mailed you?

I spoke with the Director's line yesterday telling them about this issue. I don't know if it helped or not, but, I'm glad they are replacing them for you. I've had nothing but good luck with corporate CTMH when I've brought things to their attention.

If these hold up and work well, I will be getting myself a current catalog and looking at this company once again. I love unmounted stamps--no doubt about that. But I love my stamps so much I don't want to have them not last for the long haul.

This is very good news indeed. I love their stuff and was sad to see the other post. It makes one afraid to buy things when a company does not stand behind their stuff. I am glad you updated us all and that things worked out for you.

I just wanted to add that a very generous CTMH consultant who is a SCS member has offered to send me a catalog so if the set works for me, I can look at this company once again. Thanks so much!

I did not see the original thread, was this a problem with an older set getting "gummy" over time? I have a couple sets like this. One that actually sticks to the paper now, and I am unable to use.

I don't know how to link another thread to this, but yes, I had a gummy set and was twice told they would not stand behind it. The third time was a charm. The threads were here Thursday and Friday so should only be a few pages over if you want the whole story and to see the original email.

They just arrived!! I have no idea if they will hold up better than the ones that went bad, but I am willing to give it a shot again! At least they came through with replacing them. Just wanted to let all of you know that they did follow through.

I just went to use one of my six CTMH sets, and found that they are sticky/tacky. They have been stored in the case CTMH sells in a climate controlled house (and not in the sun either). All bought at different times. I was suprised by this - not sure if I would describe them as gummy. I'm really not sure what I should do, I wonder if they will deteroriate more, becoming "gummy". Was this your experience Housefan? I even posted to this thread not thinking to check mine!

Mine were fine for about 6 months. Then I did not use them for about 3-4 months and when I went to use them they stuck to the paper even more than they had. They kind of stuck to cardstock almost from the beginning unless I really inked them heavily. It got to the point where I could only use pigment ink. As they turned more gummy they also began to turn yellow. By the time I checked them again, probably another six months, they were sticky to the touch and very sticky in the low areas. They felt like pulling kind of dry gum up off the CD where I stored them. I knew then that they were ruined. It took 3 tries to get the company to replace them, but they have and so far these seem fine. I have used dye ink successfully without that kind of suction feeling. I feel like I really won't know for another 6-9 months if they are going to hold up. My friend asked today if they are supposed to yellow because she read here that CTMH stamps turn yellow over time. I don't know the answer to that. I hope not.

Thanks for sharing your update. It's nice to see they are following through on this issue and not sweeping it under the rug.
