Default Unmounting Stamps

I have heard of some people who have unmounted wheels and stamps to use on the acrylic blocks. I'm thinking about getting the Amazing to Zany set but don't look forward to mounting it. Has anyone not mounted this set or EFP? What are the pros and cons?

You might get more responses over in General Discussion. Or do a search for "Amazing to Zany + unmounted" or something like that. I know I've seen it discussed....don't worry, though, lol! It's not as scary as all that! I've mounted both EFP's and lived. OK, well maybe minus some hair I pulled out...

I realized after I posted that I placed the message in the wrong forum.

Thanks!

I'll answer anyways, I unmounted my wheels and I love it. I was wheel challenged, even with the guide, and I seldom pulled them out. I like using them with the acrylic blocks, I have not however gone through the torment of unmounting EFP or such!

You can get the rubber off the wood by microwaving the stamp for a couple seconds... I dont know if this is what others would suggest but this is what I did when I needed to trim one better..

I have EFP and the Expressive Flexible Phrases (and Day-to-Day!) and I did not mount them on the wood. I used Alene's tack it over and over on the back and I store them on a heavy plastic storage sheet in a 3 ring binder. I could probably take a photo for you if you're interested.

I don't think cutting them out and putting the tack it on the back was really any less work than mounting them on the wood, but I can't say for sure.

Im mounted each word as I used it. Saved a bunch of time and heartache as I was "fresh" each time I mounted a new word.

I have never heard of unmounting the wheels. Nor have I heard of putting the rubber on the acryllic blocks. Are you talking about getting the acryllic blocks for each wheel or just one block like you would use for CTMH sets.

I may be wrong, but I think they are talking about one acryllic block just like CTMH.

I have both EFP sets and I mounted the stamps separately. I purchased extra wood blocks on line. I store both sets together alphabetically in the divided stamp cases (uses about 2-1/2 cases). I store my stamps rubber side up, so I just flip the box over (while closed) to find the stamp I want to use. By keeping them alphbetical, it is so much easier to find the words.

I, too, am "wheel challenged" and am SOOOO happy I read this thread. I never even thought about taking them off the wheel and mounting them. You just opened up a whole new world to me!!!! Thanks!

I will say that mounting EFP on the wood is a real pain. I am unmounting everything; due to storage space. I am trying to decide whether or not to sell this set, but the time it took me (I have been known to break out a ruler to get my stamps to line up perfectly with the sticker on the other side.) to mount the set and seal the wood is making me want to keep it. Even though I would unmount if I kept it.
It is a great idea to unmount the wheels, but I think they are just so much fun as they are. Plus I like not having to reink them over and over again. But I am not wheel-challenged so that might make a difference.
