Default Unmounting mounted stamps

I'm on a tear, I swear! I'm having a great time unmounting wood mount stamps. Some of them come off easily, some not so much.

If the cushion only comes off the wood in parts, and parts are stuck to the rubber, how can you get all that gunk off? I don't want to get surgical on it, LOL! I've thought about using WD40 to help loosen the adhesive, but I'm wondering if that would damage the rubber?

I've been unmounting mine and I put them in the microwave for a few seconds (10-20) and they mostly just come right off the wood.. I think the heat must melt the glue or something.

I usually start with liquid detergent. Really work the soap into the foam part and try to rub some of it off the rubber. For the stuff that won't come off that way, I take a knife and -- NO don't cut it -- scrape the foam part off. It takes quite a bit of pushing and pulling sometimes, but I can be just as stubborn as a chunk of rubber, so it usually gives up in the end.

I use Undu. It works great! The key is to let it soak in and you may have to do it twice but the foam that is stuck on extra tight comes off much easier and you can use the 'tool" that comes on the container to help you loosen it up. Also, if there is a lot of sticky stuff left than I use Goo-gone.

Hope that helps!

Another vote for Un-Du. I used it to get some stamps off the red rubber cushion TAC used to use, and that stuff must have the same adhesive as duct tape, but thicker! Even had threads running thru it for reinforcement.

Oh, just so you don't think I'm completely obsessive-compulsive - I was trying to get them off the cushion because I bought them used and the previous owner had undercut them pretty badly in spots. I didn't think they'd stamp evenly.

When letting UnDu soak in, don't wait too long or else it will all evaporate and then you're back to square one.
