Unleashed!

OK, here's my version of "going crazy." I'm a super careful craft shopper, always watching my prices and making sure that I buy staples and things I'm going to use over and over again. I make do, buy used, multi-purpose everything, etc.

But it's my birthday on Tuesday. And I have been dying for this stamp set. I have a crazy, irrational, totally overwhelming love for this stamp set, which is obviously not an everyday one:

https://www.papertreyink.com/stamps/...ene-stamp-set/

I also usually try to talk myself out of matching dies. But I really don't like fussy cutting, and I have weak hands, so it can be difficult. And it's my birthday, and nobody should have to fussy cut on their birthday (unless they want to).

So I think I'm going to treat myself to this stamp set, the matching dies, and-- drumroll--pay the shipping without batting an eye.

Anybody else out there making an extravagant purchase just because? I need some company before I talk myself out of it :D

PS I also bought myself a box of assorted chocolates for Valentine's Day. I'm goin' crayzeeee! lol

Dotty 02-10-2016 05:50 PM

DON'T talk yourself out of it ~ treat yourself to the stamps AND the dies!! Plus, it's your birthday - so Happy Birthday to you!! Enjoy, and please share what you create!

harvestmoon 02-10-2016 06:43 PM

When you Fall In Love you need to follow your heart and take the leap. That's an adorable set....I have never seen it before. And those colorful cards they show are just darling!
Be sure to post your cards on this thread so we can all see.
Happy Birthday!

uncbballfan 02-10-2016 06:45 PM

Poppy, if you want it, you'd better order it before the 15th. This is Papertrey's anniversary month, and the release is on the 15th; orders will be backed up and shipping times will be increased!

You would be surprised at the use you would get out of this set; have you googled or searched Pinterest? Plus there's a mini ($5) Christmas sentiment set that goes with it.

And yes, there is a possible extravagant purchase this month - just because!

sprtchick 02-10-2016 09:32 PM

Hi Deanna! My birthday is 2/17! Watch your mailbox for a small gift I hope you can use!

HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Amber

You deserve a special treat on your birthday. Enjoy your new toys. Looking forward to seeing what you create.

DianeinSparks 02-10-2016 10:32 PM

Birthdays are special days and you should treat yourself. And that set is really cute! I treat myself for my birthday and Christmas; my husband and I each get what we want for ourselves instead of being surprised by something we really didn't want or need. Go for it! Happy Birthday.

jukie 02-11-2016 03:43 AM

Happy Birthday! and enjoy your new goodies when they arrive. Sometimes we need to take the time, effort, and money to indulge ourselves, it lifts our spirits and you cant beat new craft goodies :)

shazsilverwolf 02-11-2016 04:54 AM

Absolutely stop talking yourself out of it! You know you will use the stamps more if you don't have to face the chore of fussy cutting! :) I used this logig with the TH Bird Crazy & accessories stamps and die set- I hate fussy cutting, and simply do not have the patience for it. And the legs on those birds? Never going to happen. I'm going to use the same method of self persuasion on the Crazy Cats and the mini Bird Crazy set too :) Life's to short for sore fingers. :) :)
I forgot- Happy Birthday, have a wonderful day.

UnderstandBlue 02-11-2016 05:57 AM

omggggg i LOVE THAT!!

JBgreendawn 02-11-2016 06:31 AM

oh WOW what a cool set... :)

Happy Birthday to you!

Covington Crafter 02-11-2016 07:02 AM

Go crazy, order that great set and enjoy it thoroughly! Besides being your birthday, it fits all your criteria for being multi-purpose. My birthday is Saturday, I'm going antiquing with my daughter and who knows what extravagant purchase I'll make ;)

Happy Birthday!!

PinkKitty 02-11-2016 07:44 AM

Do it! You deserve to spoil yourself once in awhile.
Happy Birthday!

jeannemlehrman 02-11-2016 08:41 AM

By spoiling yourself with this beautiful and cool set with the accessories, you can spoil others with your beautiful creations. Happy Birthday and I do so enjoy reading your posts.

kimbee1556 02-11-2016 08:46 AM

Today is my birthday and I just ordered some new toys for myself! No one can spoil yourself like yourself! Happy Birthday and enjoy your new stamps and dies...they are awesome!!

Aastha 02-11-2016 10:21 AM

Happy Birthday!!! I recently got myself chalk pastels, even when I was already negative in my craft budget. My husband gave me the excuse that its a gift for the "Presidents Day"..
Imagine what a Birthday can get you away with!
Enjoy your birthday presents!! I hope you have a wonderful day!!

poppydarling 02-11-2016 11:28 AM

Happy birthday, Kim, Amber and Carla! And thanks to everyone for their good wishes and wonderful enabling :)

poppydarling 02-11-2016 11:38 AM

So funny: so here's Yana with a similar stamp set, showing loads of different variations and the fun in using the stamps and dies. I'll take this as a sign :-)

You didn't seriously think we would talk you out of buying such a cute stamp set with matching dies, did you??? The video makes me want to get out the jumbo clamshell box of wooden Amuse building stamps that I have (from before they changed the company to home party style) and make some "Congrats on your new home!" cards or something else fun!

melissa59 02-11-2016 01:18 PM

We are so similar! We both have wish lists of items we would like to buy. We weight the pros and cons and wonder if those items will be something we can get a lot of use from. And we both agonize over our spending, wanting to be sure that every quarter we spend is not frivolously wasted. It is a wonder that we don't both have matching ulcers!

First, let me say that birthdays are for splurging, a time to throw caution to the wind and buy or do something frivolous for yourself -- without GUILT!

As for the stamp set itself, I think you will lots of use out of it. Cards you make from this set can be masculine or feminine, vintage or brightly colored & cheery. With the landmarks in this set, you can make cards representing three different countries or use a bunch of pieces to build a magical skyline.

All of the cards I've seen similar to this set have been on white cardstock. But I think this set would be PERFECT for a nighttime scene using the black magic technique, like I did with here with a much smaller CTMH stamp set: S2S16D Colorful Neighborhood by melissa59 - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers

shirlb19 02-11-2016 01:57 PM

Oh, I can see why you want it. Now, I want it too, lol.......And with matching framelits? Seriously, this is a no brainer. Oh yeah, and A very Happy Birthday to you!

Shirl the enabler!

wavejumper 02-11-2016 02:49 PM

This is a great city set! So many ways to use a city set. I did one last year for a wedding shower as I'm in a city with a little plane pulling a banner over the city. You can make it snow for xmas. This is an easy one to stamp approval on. :)

I hear you. I squeeze my pennies too. But there comes moments in time you have to recognize you are worthy of full price items!!! And I think if people are frugal-that's a lot of work in itself searching around, etc. So you have earned a treat!!

Plus, I look at bdays this way: Too many adults think they are just for kids. I dont agree. I am happy I met a person, and I am happy to celebrate the day they entered the world-no matter how old they are!

I am happy I have met you here, I look forward to your posts-so of course I am going to say get it and Happy Birthday to you!! ((hugs)) And I like you got some chocolates too! :)

How that's for shoving you at the computer to order it already?

Happy Birthday to Amber and Carla and Kim too!!! I hope to hear what you three get! ((hugs))

That's so sweet of you to say thank you! And that's a lovely way of thinking about it as well.

Wavejumper it's been great getting to know you as well! Thanks for all the support (and enabling LOL)

Yessss-- your card is so cute. What is that stamp set called, do you remember? I just might start collecting these LOL !

Yeah I feel like a Rockefeller: ordered the stamp set, the matching sentiment set and the dies :)

CottageBliss 02-11-2016 05:46 PM

DEFINITELY OR THE STAMPS AND DIES!!

I think they are very versatile and will make darling cards.

Happy Birthday!!

Dorie95 02-11-2016 05:47 PM

Congrats to all the February babies! Happy Birthday!

poppydarlin' Go ahead and get that stamp set, you deserve it. Sometimes even if it's not your birthday, you just have to reward yourself! I know about counting pennies and wondering if I really should spend it on my new hobby. You know what? It's okay.

Happy Birthday! Birthdays are for celebrating. You never know how many you'll be blessed with.
Obviously, you really like the stamps and have a valid reason for buying the matching dies also. DO IT! (Seriously, why do we, as women, seem to have trouble indulging ourselves?)
And when they come, you can stamp me some Big Bens & double decker buses, Lol! (I married a Brit whose father actually built double deck buses for London Transport)

I had already spent my allotted money for January (MY birthday month) when I FINALLY found a set of the Sue Wilson Elegant Poinsettia dies that seem to have all vanished everywhere else. Even though I'm a bargain shopper, I laid out the money for the set(not cheap), because I had wanted it for so long. I'm glad I did. They came today and they are gorgeous. I'm completely in love with Sue Wilson designs- her stuff just sings to me.

Oh that's great-- have fun stamping! I know I will. We deserve it :)

That's so cool about your FIL. Routemasters? My ex is British and I lived in London for years and spent most of the them on London Transport lol have leaped onto plenty of double decker buses in my younger days. I will definitely stamp some for you. PM me your address!

Im from the Delavan area...now live in Vegas! Thank you for the sweet birthday wishes!

Rnruns60 02-11-2016 07:29 PM

Treat yourself..sounds like you don't do it often enough. As someone else said, life's too short to always deprive yourself. I had a January birthday and was pretty extravagant too. I ordered the new Stamp of Approval kit which was very costly, but I love it,!

Allistamps123 02-12-2016 01:11 AM

It's my birthday and I won't fussy cut if I don't want to! LOL!

What a great set! I love PTI! I hope you got those dies. Have FUN!

Happy Birthday!

melissa59 02-12-2016 10:18 AM

I just watched the video all the way through. I love how she's created those towns with her stamps! I wish my set had more more than three houses. I wonder if those Hero Arts town buildings would coordinate? I guess I'll have to do some research to see if I can find some measurements.

BTW, Poppy, I'm going to blame you for this new addiction as well as the journal addiction you got me hooked on last year!

gregzgurl 02-12-2016 01:10 PM

Did you really think that anyone here would talk you OUT of buying something, poppydarling? "...and then you woke up...", lol! HAPPY TO YOU, I SAY - GET IT ALL!!! Not my particular cup of tea, but there are limitless possibilities with that set and it's timeless, to boot! And Happy Birthday to you other February babies, too... ;)

uncbballfan 02-12-2016 02:02 PM

Repeating Sue: Happy birthday to all the February babies! And I agree, that set is timeless. Nothing trendy about it!

loyce 02-12-2016 03:57 PM

Happy Birthday To All!. Seems as we get older fewer people celebrate us. This great stamp set will be a gift to yourself and everyone you ever gift with the cards made from it! What could be better? It is truly the gift that keeps on giving.

Soozie4Him 02-12-2016 05:05 PM

I just had a grandson born yesterday - I'm wondering if I should treat myself to some new goodies?! ;-o

I think it should be a rule that you get new goodies when you get a new grandson. After all, think of all the fun you'll want to have when babysitting and he's finally down for a nap. And all the extra birthday, Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day and just because cards you'll be sending to him.
