Default Is two step stamping not for me?

I've been working all night and I can't get the flowers from the summer mini (bud basics) to line up to my satisfaction. (And no, I don't have the wheel, and unfortunately - because I love wheels- I can't get it)

I've stamped ever off set I can imagine to see if I like it. I've tried lining them up with a positioner to get them perfectly aligned- but they still don't look good.

I'm beginning to think I just don't like them together. Because the outline will never be a perfect outline it always looks to me like it's wrong.

In the gallery it looks great, but on my paper it looks awful. Seperately I love them and will get a lot of use for them. But I just don't think I'm a two step stamper.

Does anyone else feel this way about this set or any other?

I never line mine up.....They look more freeform that way and I like them better than the perfect/cutesy/matchy/matchy flowers. Just my opinion....
Probably I learned to like them that way because I could never line them up either and I just gave up and went with it!

I don't think they are meant to line up perfectly! When mounting mine I tried every angle to make them line up--they didn't!!! So relax, this is art! As my sweet Dad used to say 'you aren't building a watch!' Have fun!

I always thought they were "meant" to not line up and look slightly askew. Thought that was how they were supposed to be. LOL. I like them off though!

I personally don't buy any Stampin up 2 step stamps for this reason. I only buy CTMH so I can see exactly where I am placing it

Thanks everyone for the replies.
They don't line up perfectly and I think that's the problem. Is it always looks like I did it wrong.

Lesson learned- I won't buy 2 step stamps unless I can use them seperately- which in this case, I can because they are both awesome stamps.

Then again, maybe when I have time I'll try to use them together again

Matchy Matchy bothers me, personally. I do have this "perfection issue", as some refer to it, but with these they just look so carefree and casual...I like casual much much better! Just me though.

If you don't like Buds together use them seperately. They look good apart.

I'm terrible at 2 step stampin. I think the trick is to either accept an image that isn't lined up, or use the stamp ma jig.

I think some sets line up a LOT better that others. Like painted posies lines up great, but then bold butterfly looks like they weren't even made to be used together. I have never made a card with bold butterfly with anything but the outline. It drives me mad. I really wish that you could buy just the outlines bold butterfly, I mean It would cut the price WAY down, and it just bothered me that I had to pay $30 for a stamp set, that I could only use half of the set. It looks to me on the big butterfly, that the shadow stamp was like 1/2 inch bigger!!

I like the effect of the 2 step, but I didn't like the effect I was getting!

I un-mounted all of my 2 step stamps sets for this reason.

I stamp my first image, figure out where I want to place my second image and make a small registration mark on the paper and on on the acrylic block where they should meet, has been working great for me.

HTH

I use the stampamajig. The imaging sheets are much cheeper at stores like AC moore then at su! If it's a set I use alot, I stamp it in staz-on and just leave it in the case with the stamps, like Heartfelt thanks. It saves an extra couple of seconds! Some I don't care it they are perfect, but some of them you do. HTH

I have the same issues with 2 step stamping as others have reported. There are only 2 sets that I have liked and used a lot - Petal Prints and Heartfelt Thanks. They are very different from each other, but both look great when "not perfect".

Any 2 step stamp has to be really tempting to get me to buy it -- seeing the samples in the gallery has helped a lot in determining whether a set is likely to stamp successfully.

I think the orientation of the large flower & outline is skewed on this set. I had to mount the outline slightly skewed to match the flower (haven't had to do this on other 2 step stamps). I really prefer not to have to use the stampamajig on 2 step stamping. So now my outline stamp matches the flower and when I stamp. I rarely can stamp one stamp on top of the other, but the skewed pattern produced now looks right. I don't know if this is making sense.

I love all the 2 step samples in the gallery, but have a hard time myself using them. I'm not sure that 2 step stamps are meant for those who have extreme perfectionism. You have to accept that they are not going to be perfectly lined up & that is harder for some than others. JMO.

I agree with this. I use the stampamajig. But I don't ever try to get the top stamp to lay over the other image perfectly--I like it better when it is slightly off.

It's a great idea to use stazon to permanently stamp the imaging sheets! I was wondering how to do that--the imaging sheets seem to wipe off so easily. Thanks for the great idea!
