Wink Turning the pages with my nose!

I got my new catalog today! BUT... I have this weird blistery, itchy rash thing on my hands and the only thing that makes it feel better (temporarily) is wrapping my hands in cold washclothes! How can I enjoy my new treasure, I've been waiting so long for??? AAHHHHHHHH not fair

Sounds like you have the sweat rash I got on my hands 2 summers ago. I was crocheting like mad in the 100 temp. It got to my hands, red little blister bumps and itched like crazy. Witch Hazel sure helps alot!

Think about what you have been doing?

I'll come turn your pages and write out your wish list! I don't want you to be impared!

LOL

All good ideas, but this whole thing is getting really scary. It has spread over my body, and to my feet. It flares up (the bumps) and subsides, but mostly at nite my hands are on fire with the itch. I went to the doctor two days ago, she gave my a prescription for some lotion and told me to take benadryl at nite, but NOTHING IS WORKING!!! Last nite I didn't sleep at all and when my lip started to feel it I thought I might have to go to the hospital. I'm calling the doctor when the open in 5 minutes. I'm scared because I know how difficult it is to figure out what is causing something like this. AND I have my new catalog workshop on Friday!! Can't miss that! Wish me luck.

Make a mental note of everything you have eaten in the last day or so. It could be an allergic reaction to food.

Red face

Sorry for the double post! I am back from the Doctor and am now starting the steroids. She took some blood as well, in case it is coming from internal cause. I hope this works. Thanks so much for all of your caring!!!

I hope it works for you! A couple of weeks ago my DH (currently in Texas) got tiny little bumps all over his body that itched like crazy and it was so bad he couldn't sleep very well the first night. He went to the doc the next day and was prescribed a short run of steroids (prednisolone, starting with 24 mg on the first day and tapering a pill a day for a total of six days) and some antihistamines as needed. Once he was on the steroids for two days he didn't need to take the antihistamines any more (which ws good because he basically napped/slept all day and night when on the antihistamines).

The doctor thought it might be a virus (although it was more itchy than a virus should have resulted in) or an allergic reaction (but DH did nothing different than his usual routine except eat some cherries, which he loves and has eaten lots of in his life).

I hope you are returned to vibrant health soon, and that you can enjoy your catty!

Just in case they have not checked for this -- my daughter had an infection of the hair follicles a couple of years ago. Antihistamines, of course, did no good. Went away when they prescribed antibiotics.

Please let us know how you are doing later today or this evening!

It's just too hard to turn pages with your nose! I can fly out tonight on my broom to NJ from CA!

Hope you get better!

A VERY good thought.......when Arm and Hammer changed their formula, it made me itch all over. When I figured out it was the detergent, I call their 800 number and they refunded me the amount I paid for the box.

Default You guys are the kindest!

My husband thinks I'm cukoo for spending so much time here on SCS "looking at cards" and reading posts about who knows what, but I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate all of your caring.

I took my first dose of the prednisone this afternoon when I got home from the doc and do feel a little better. It's still there, but not as intense. Hopefully tomorrow after the second dose I'll be even better. (Hope so since I have a houseful of sleepover company coming from out of state for two days
I wasn't too thrilled about this visit BEFORE the rash, so you can imagine how excited I am NOW:???:!

There is a possibility that my puppy might have rolled in something outside, as I started itching when I pet him when I got home. So, he's been washed as have all of his bedding, toys etc. Let us hope!

I have to take this for a week, tapering off as I go.
But, most importantly, I've been able to HOLD MY CATALOG!!!!!!

Thanks again! You're all great.

Good going baabteach!

I was just getting my broom fueled up!

Tell your company that Dr, Phillips says you must rest in the corner while reading the new catalog to obtain the best results from your meds! Take 2 chocolates, make a list and call me on Monday! LOL

Hugs - Glad you are doing better!

Default Thanks Karen

Great advice! At least I can't go out in the sun, so I can send them all to the pool and stay inside alone!:mrgreen::mrgreen::mrgreen::mrgreen :

One of my earlier theories was that I might be allergic to chocolate. How would I go on??

I am glad that the prednisone is working! I just ran across this thread, and I was all ready to tell you to go to the Dr. and get some predisone until I read thru the end of it.

Could you or the puppy have come into contact with wild parsnip? A google search gives this info:

"Wild parsnip is one of a few, unique plants that can cause phyto-photo-dermatitis. (Try to say that quickly three times.) What this means is that chemicals in the juices of this plant with the help of ultraviolet light can burn your skin. These chemicals are found in the green leaves, stems and fruits of wild parsnip.

The chemicals in the plant that cause this problem are called furocoumarins. When absorbed by your skin, they're energized by ultraviolet light, causing a breakdown of cells and skin tissue. This leaves you with a red, sunburn-like area. (Don't think you're safe on a cloudy day - you can still get burned since ultraviolet light is present even on cloudy days.) Once exposed, your skin will turn red within 24 to 48 hours. In many cases, after the skin reddens, blisters appear--some of them pretty big."
http://dnr.wi.gov/org/caer/ce/eek/ve...ildparsnip.htm(there is a picture on the web site of the plant)

apparently this is becoming quite invasive here in the midwest, and would also thrive in NJ, as well.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery, and give the puppy a hug from Syd (my avatar, a middle-aged aussie) and I!

My best friend has been having protracted problems with photosensitive eyes and skin. Her doc suggested a virus, as well. I personally think it might be the terrible housing she has been living in (mold and mice due to a leaky and filthy basement suite).

I hope it is not chocolate in your case, baabteach!!! I'm a chocolate addict (and an emotional eater!) so I could not fathom a chocolateless diet!

Just an idea, but my mom had a similar reaction to Lysine. She took it (vitamin) for years...then this weird rash thing, then welts. Anyway, she was taking it b/c it prevents cold sores. Anyhoo, no one could figure it out, finally the dermatologist figured it out. Just an idea.
